Just another note, listen to God’s word. Don’t listen to people if what they say is the opposite God’s word. They didn’t write the Bible. Understand what Paul say the reason is. Men uncover their heads because they are the glory and image of God, and in honor of Christ and in honor of being the head. Women are not the head, and Paul explains she covers her head because a woman is the glory of man, and was made for the man. And a woman covering her head during worship has something to do with having power on her head because of the angels, 1 Corinthians 11:10 KJV, “For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.” So without the head covering during worship, the woman has no powers, and is not protected.

There are reasons that we don’t always understand.
I realize, but also we have to remember that Paul said things that later he went back on, like it seems good to avoid food sacrificed to idols, then later he says dont raise question about food from idols

Why not? Doesn't the Scripture say not to wear a hat while praying or prophesying? Paul is talking about praying and prophesying in church. Unless you around praying and prophesying at home, at work, or walking on the street, you can quite happily wear a hat. I take off my hat while at home and at work and when I go into the church service, so there is no problem there.

i never said i dont want to or be dissobedient? I was legit asking because you left a verse there and didn't elaborate. If i didnt ask i would probably go the rest of my life thinking you told me to never wear a hat...

It takes more than just saying scripture to convince someone we need to be a community that communicates. I need guidance not guilt, and right now im not wearing my hat and haven't been for a while because of people basically saying Paul said never wear a hat.

Please dont assume i dont want to be obedient if you knew me irl you definitely wouldn't say that, if i didnt care i never would have posted this question to begin with
Well if some think that the big thumb will come down from the sky on them if they wear a hat, so-beit for them. As for me, I am bald, so wearing a hat outside or driving in the car prevents me from getting skin cancer on my head.

Apostle Paul taught Jesus Commands, not his own. Just like all the prophets and desciples. They all spoke the word of God.

You have to read those chapters to understand them. He did not go back on the issue of eating foods to idols? The issue of eating foods sacrificed to idols was for conscience sake. To not cause harm to a weak brother’s conscious.

Studying the verses will give you a deeper understanding behind the issue. Read 1 Corinthians 10:28-33 KJV and 1 Corinthians 8:4-13 KJV.

You’re right. I think I saw me in that question because I fussed about it. I did not want to wear a scarf. I was disobedient until I finally understood. So my apologies.

I’m sorry, but I had to laugh cause you said people told you not to wear a hat because Paul said it. See how well meaning people do us? They might think they are really right, and they fuss and argue, yet sometimes they have truly misquoted the Bible’s meaning.

It’s just during worship that men don’t wear a head covering and women do wear a head covering!

I had to just make a decision to follow up with scripture when someone told me something and pray for understanding myself.

We are under new commands under the New Testment, not the Old Testament where the Mosiac law was followed. However the commands from the old that applied, Paul addressed them in the new. So we must follow the commands under the New Covenant.
This is not a command.

Well since I can read it in the Bible, then it’s what God wants us to do.
I read the words "if your right hand offends you, cut it off", in the Bible - it doesn't mean that's what God wants us to do.
The words "I wish all men were as I am" (i.e. unmarried) are in the Bible, that doesn't mean God wants me to be single.
The words "when you come, bring my cloak and my scroll" are in the Bible; how are you going to obey and take Paul the items he wants?
And the OT talks about stoning Sabbath breakers to death, and it also says "do not murder". Which of those are you going to obey?

If your right hand offends you cut it off means if there is anything in your life that would cause you to end up in the lake of fire, cut it off, meaning get rid of it.

I wish men were like me was Paul talking about himself, and he did say it was him speaking by permission and not a commandment from God.

Bring my cloak and my scroll - so wait a minute. Are you really using this as an argument for what’s a command or not a commandment in the Bible?

The Old Testament laws did require that a person be stoned if they broke the Sabbath, but that’s because the person became unholy before God. This law was for Israel under the old covenant. We are no longer under the law, we are under grace. And God said thou shall not kill which is one of the 10 commandments. This law we obey under the New Testament as it hangs off of “Love God with all thine heart, and love your neighbor as your self.

It is God Who establishes laws and commandments based on His Own Righteousness. He is the Creator, we are His creation.

I'm asking a question based on your words "since I can read it in the Bible, it's what God wants us to do."
You can read the words, "bring my book and my scroll" in the Bible - does God want you to do that?

You didn't answer the question. You quoted what I'd written and said "wait, are you really using that for what's a command from God?"

Your words were, "since I can read it in the Bible, it's what God wants us to do." I gave you several examples of other things that you can read in the Bible. You had answers for most of them - which are your ways of interpreting them - but not the example about Paul's books and scroll.

In ancient rome, the symbol of being a free roman citizen was the pileus hat. Paul was telling them to take it off (which was shocking at the time, because they wore them everywhere, at work, during dinner, in the shower. Yay we are FREE!) So in taking off the symbol of there freedom, and in turn, looking like a slave, they were showing themselves to be slaves of Christ.

So we still take our hat off in church in respect to what was said to the 1st century church.
I haven’t done any research on it, but this would sound like the right answer to me if correct. Is there a similar understanding of the instruction to have women cover their heads?

I understood it was because, in those days, having short hair was a sign of being a prostitute.
I don't understand why it's because of the angels, though.

That sounds right. I think I have heard that before.

This was commanded by God in God’s word, and has nothing to do with the Roman symbol of being free.

The command for man to not wear a head covering during worship has to do with respect for God’s Holiness and that the man not dishonor his own head, so a man praying or prophesying should uncover his head, 1 Corinthians 11:4 KJV, “Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.” And man should uncover his head during worship because [God says] man is the image and glory of God, 1 Corinthians 11:7 KJV, “For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.” The Bible says a woman should cover her head because a woman is the glory of man and should have power on her head because of the angels, 1 Corinthians 11:7-10 KJV, “…but the woman is the glory of the man. 8 For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. 9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. 10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.”

I want you to know i very much commend your commitment to the Truth and The Bible. It can be easy in this day to try and explain away the simple, and i want you to know Jesus sees your effort to try and convince people of what the Bible says, and i know you are valued by Jesus. I have read what you said and consider it. Currently i dont wear a hat in church at all, and i try and remove it when praying most of the time. It's not an easy matter for me because I like wearing a hat, but i also know that its not always about what i like. Im currently praying about this matter if i can wear a hat in general, and I dont want you to think you're going unnoticed. I made the post and i appreciate and notice your responses.

So what i'm trying to say is:

Thank you. May Jesus be with you always

I think you will find this podcast on the female head covering very informative.

Thank you, and God bless you!

I didn’t want to wear a head covering and resisted at first. But when I saw the scripture “For this cause aught the woman to have power on her head because of the angles, I became afraid. I didn’t want to leave myself open to Satan’s attacks during prayer. I feel comfortable knowing God’s angels watches over me during prayer. I’ve been doing this for a while, and when I don’t have a scarf on during prayer, I feel naked.

It’s just during the times of prayer and worship. Other times it’s not required.
