Revelation 1:1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must quickly take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.3Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.

apokálypsis – properly, uncovering (unveiling). See 601(apokalyptō).

602 /apokálypsis ("revelation, unveiling") is principally used of the revelation of Jesus Christ (the Word), especially a particular (spiritual) manifestation of Christ (His will) previously unknown to the extent (because "veiled, covered").

Why can’t the universal Church agree on the meanings of the multiple visions in the book of Revelation, if it is an “unveiling” or an “uncovering” or a “revealing”?

Why are there hundreds of different and disagreeing interpretations on this eschatological forum alone, if revelation is an “unveiling” or an “uncovering” or a “revealing” of truth?

The Book of Revelation is our best and the Bible is the true information about what God has Planned for our future.
People with an open mind and who prayerfully seek the truth can understand it, but those who have believed unscriptural theories and doctrines may find it impenetrable. As Isaiah 29:9-12 says.
Also; God has hidden these things from the wise and learned......for that was His good choice. Matthew 11:25-26

God has made it difficult, so as when the great Test of our faith comes, 1 Peter 4:12, people will not know which way to turn, Luke 21:25-26, as the terrifying cosmic forces strike the world. It will be the winnowing of the chaff from the wheat. Matthew 3:12

Number 1 reason - Because there is an almost universal lack of knowledge among Christians regarding what Judaism believes regarding the messiah.

Mainly because of timing," the things that must quickly take place ", is written in the first sentence. Most ignore this and I'm not sure how but I do know why. $.
Blessings.

Because some people think the “must quickly take place” and “for the time is near” statements have not been unveiled. The time element of when that these things happen is still covered to them, hence the many failed predictions.

See OP. The Greek word for revelation means “revealing” or “uncovering”. Revelation doesn’t mean “hiding”, that would be the polar opposite of its definition.

It seems the “revealing” or “uncovering” was that the events of revelation were to occur quickly for the time was near.

Yes the destruction of Temple Judaism in 70AD. The end of the age.

Evidence for this?
By people thinking the concept of the Antichrist is some end times evil dictator, but not as being the King of Israel, Son of David.

And that the Jews believe he will be a great politician and military leader who will fight battles on behalf of Israel. And that he will be anointed king by a known prophet. By a known prophet is something I was told by the Jews over at their Messiah Truth countermissionary site. Where I have had discussions with them since 2004, and over 10,000 posts. Most Christians do not have that kind of exposure.

I wish I could pour that knowledge into everyone here's head - and a lot of the debate and friction in the discussions would go away.

From a Jewish (Judaism) site, Judaism 101 FAQ, about what they believe regarding the messiah.

"The mashiach will be a great political leader descended from King David (Jeremiah 23:5). The mashiach is often referred to as "mashiach ben David" (mashiach, son of David). He will be well-versed in Jewish law, and observant of its commandments (Isaiah 11:2-5). He will be a charismatic leader, inspiring others to follow his example. He will be a great military leader, who will win battles for Israel. He will be a great judge, who makes righteous decisions (Jeremiah 33:15). But above all, he will be a human being, not a god, demi-god or other supernatural being."

Since the time window of parable of the fig tree generation is closing, I expect that person to come on the world stage at any time.

I am currently having an eye on Zelensky - who was just named NY Times person of the year. And is a worldwide noted politician, who is a military leader emerged because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. And that Ukraine is on fast track to being made into a full membership EU state.

OIP.jpg

232.jpg

The other guy who has emerged to possibly be the false prophet is the Yanuka in Israel that has gained such a large following among Hasidic Jews - who is into Kabballah and Zohar.

32.jpg

...and with Putin's aggressive moves - he could be the Gog personality. Which there appears to be a scenario shaping up where Ukraine gets full EU membership. And a ten leader group of EU leaders form a defensive bond to oppose Russian aggression. And Zelensky could be selected to be the head of that group as the little horn person.

Which in the not too distant future, Russia is dragged into a middle east conflict between Israel and its muslim neighbors, named in Ezekiel 38. Which Zelensky, a Jew, would be motivated to try and help Israel.

And then after the Gog/Magog smoke clears, the Jews think Zelensky is their messiah, and he is anointed the King of Israel, by the Yanuka.

_______________________________________________________________________________

So persons like us here in the eschatology forum must be aware of what the Jews (Judaism) believe - because of Israel's and the Jews central role in end times bible prophecy.

So take some time and go educate yourself about what the Jews are looking for in the messiah. And then be on watch for anyone who could possibly meet their expectations.

What the Jews believe is of no consequence. They will be virtually all gone after the Lord's Day of fiery wrath.
Paul states it plainly : Of Israel, [referring to Jewish people] only a remnant will be saved.
Yes the destruction of Temple Judaism in 70AD. The end of the age.
The Book of Revelation was not even Written before then.
None of the Prophies described in Revelation, other that the first five Seals, have happened yet.

There are two views on when the date of Revelation was written. The 95AD
date has always been in question.

keras, Paul said that the Day of the Lord does not begin until the Antichrist goes into the temple, sits, claims to be God.

You wrote that would happen on the mid-point day of the 7 years.

So does the Day of the Lord begin before the seven years (which you are claiming the Jews will be gone because of the fiery wrath) ?
Or in the middle of seven years, as you also said ?

Agreed. it seems what was being “uncovered” or “revealed” was that the events of revelation would occur quickly and soon.

It seems less likely that the revelation was “uncovering” or “revealing” hidden truths, considering it consists of symbolic and apocalyptic visions to which the church can’t seem to agree upon how to interpret.

The prophecy in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3, refers to the forthcoming terrible day the Lord sends His fiery wrath.
THEN all the ungodly peoples in all of the holy Land, will be gone. Zephaniah 1:14-18, Ezekiel 30:2-5, Jeremiah 12:14

Yea, I think that’s spot on.

One other thing I find interesting is that some people use current news events in an attempt to show some portion of scripture being fulfilled or possibly fulfilled. I rarely see these same people even consider the news of the first century, Josephus for example, even though this news aligned with many of the visions and in multiple ways.

If some of the things Josephus said was reported by several news agencies as events that just happened, I’m quite sure that this forum would have a large amount of posts declaring that prophecy is being fulfilled before our eyes.

But it wasn't, so the 'soon; refers to God's timing.

I summarize Revelation with: Look out! It’s all going to happen and we should be aware and prepared for it. Be not in the dark as Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:3-4
Actually the first Five Seals were opened at Christ’s Ascension, as per Revelation 5 and 6:1-11 and Zechariah 6:1-7

Proved by the terrible wars, famines and plagues we have experienced since then.

The Fifth Seal is obviously open and all the souls of the martyrs since Stephen are kept under the Altar in heaven.

Then the Sixth Seal: the terrible Day of the Lord's wrath, is the next prophesied event we can expect, with its dramatic cosmic and world shaking things prophesied, triggered by an attack upon Israel. Psalms 83, Micah 4:11-12

This worldwide disaster will cause the nations to combine in a One World Government, but we Christians will be motivated to go to and settle in all of the holy Land. We are seen there by John in Revelation 7:9-14 and when the Great Tribulation of the 7 Trumpets and 7 Bowls starts: in Daniel 7:25, Revelation 13:7 and in Revelation 12:14-17. We see how some Christians are taken to a place of safety for those 1260 days, but the rest must remain in the holy Land while under the control of the 'beast', Revelation 13:5-7. Daniel 11:32-35 tells how the Lord’s people are divided at this time. Zechariah 14:1-2 describes this conquest.

All this information is given to us before it happens so we are without excuse if we fail to take note of and understand God's Plans for the end times. Amos 3:7, Revelation 1:1-3
