You ARE allowed to display a swastika in your house yes?

Here's another example:

It sounds like he's pretty big on free speech. And it does seem like he's going back on his word.

In your house?

He said that some people have complained to Town Hall, although there's little authorities can do because flying the Nazi flag is protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution, which guarantees free speech.

As well as outside of it upon your flag pole, bumper, hat, tee-shirt, flesh, hand held flags while marching with the full protection of the law though a neighborhood containing a significant number of holocaust survivors....

So I'm a tad confused at the responses to this.

Elon said he'd allow for more free speech on the platform, which he has by reinstating certain accounts

...but said that there will still be rules that will be enforced in the way of things that incite violence.

"We don't like Elon, he'll allow extremism"
(blocks extremism by banning Kanye and refusing to reinstate Alex Jones' account)
"See, Elon is a hypocrite! So we're still justified in not liking him"

Seems as if some folks have laid out a "no-win" situation for him here where no matter which way he goes, they see it as justification for "why he's bad"

It'd be refreshing if some folks would just cut through the drivel, be honest, and just say the real reason why they don't like him "He'll allow a little more in the way of conservative punditry and satire than Jack Dorsey and Vijaya Gadde did, and we liked the previous arrangement better"

In a way, the behavior of some on the left (regarding Elon) resembles the behavior of some on the evangelical right when their values were no longer being placed on a "special" elevated pedestal in major institutions...and conflated "removal of preferential treatment" with "detrimental treatment".

Or to put it another way, a person on the left complaining about Elon gives me the same cringe factor as a person on the right complaining about another religious symbol getting set up next to a nativity scene on the City Hall lawn.

this guy is just....what is it with the right and these people becoming so unhinged, or was ye this way all the time and just better at hiding it? Apparently he also did an insane rant on alex jones wich I haven't seen yet.
This is the unpleasant upshot of using political anger to spread one’s message.
Angry people tend to be a bit less circumspect in their communications and can go off on weird, wild tangents.

I am so sick of America’s hypocrisy. There are a million or so people on Twitter who uses the N* word and possibly say damning things regarding Blacks. They have not been banned. It’s all so hypocritical and shows why America is the harlot of Babylon. Gives animals more rights than blacks. Why are the Jews more important than every other culture? Blacks die daily from police shootings. No one says the police incite violence. America sickens me.

I have no idea why he reinstated Kanye's account.

I'd like to know what rules have changed since Elon took over and how the rule change resulted in some accounts being re-instated.
Anyway, Kanye deserves to be banned here, and I'm glad Twitter has some standards that are above simply permitting everything that is not illegal.

But so much for the "Free speech" and just stick to what is legal and only ban what is illegal, some far right wing members of Christian Forums have been touting lately.

He put himself into the situation. I doubt many people ragging on him actually care much. I think a lot of the "outrage" is generated by Musk himself to distract from his very real problems with Twitter.

Twitter Keeps Missing Its Advertising Targets as Woes Mount
Under Elon Musk, the company has cut its financial expectations as some advertisers request discounts and are offered incentives.
In tandem, Twitter was rapidly cutting its revenue projections. The company previously forecast that it would generate $1.4 billion in the last three months of the year, down from $1.6 billion a year ago because of the global economic downturn. But as Twitter kept missing its weekly advertising targets, that number slid to $1.3 billion, then to $1.1 billion, two people said.

Based on some of the previous statements from Dorsey, sounds like it was acknowledged that there were some pre-existing problems that were going to come to fruition soon whether Musk acquired the platform or not.

One may be able to make an argument that his "Bull in a China shop" approach could be exacerbating the issues, but the large layoffs at other industry giants (that haven't had leadership changes) like Meta and Amazon and DoorDash would suggest that a lot of companies made some hasty decisions based on the more lucrative environment for them that existed during the covid era, but wasn't sustainable in the long run once some things started getting back to normal.

If you're running a platform/service where the model is "the more a person is in front of the screen and seeing ads - or - buying stuff online vs. in-store", then the 12-18 months of people staying home a lot more was a booming time for business, but it wasn't going to last forever, and if you staffed to that peak period, you were basically setting yourself up for having to do layoffs down the road.

Twitter added almost 1,000 staff in 2020, and another 2,000 in the first 3 quarters of 2021. The recent layoff basically took them back down to 2018 staffing levels.

Sort of agree that to much expansion was done under Covid, but in the return, Amazon's market definitely changed as did
Google's, Titter not so much.

From a scaling standpoint, it did...maybe not in exactly the same ways as the other two you mentioned.

But more people on the site constantly (which requires more servers and more people to manage the servers) combined with more people doing more posting (meaning more people reporting, and thus, more people needing to review content) basically leaves them way overstaffed what was needed after people started going out and doing other things.

During covid, my company (my as in the company I work for, I don't own it) consulted with lots of companies to get them on secure WAH solutions, which involved hiring a lot of support people to be able to satisfy demand, when a lot of them went back to on-prem, some people did need to be laid off as it doesn't make sense to have 30% of them sitting around doing next to nothing.

However, we did take a slightly different approach, before we started hiring more Level 1 & 2 support people, we made the offer to a lot of existing employees to work extra hours and extra shifts for cash bonuses so that once the "mad rush" was over, it'd just be a case where they'd go back to working their regular 40 hour work weeks negating the need for as many layoffs.

That's not to completely take the blame off of Twitter leadership... Some of it may have been self-inflicted. As when a platform starts handing out the "discipline for petty reasons" too often, some people leave and take long breaks or never come back, that's fewer targeted ads reaching their intended target and thus, less revenue. Like with any business endeavor, taking a political stance is a risky endeavor. You run the risk of alienating half the customer base if you don't have a product/offering that people really like.

For instance, Amazon offers convenient online shopping & shipping on a variety of products, so they can get a little "woke" if they want, and conservatives are still going to use their service...cuz, hey... "cheaper price on this thing I wanted with free 2-day shipping". Twitter's product offering isn't all that enticing.

In America yes! How many police get off for shooting blacks?
After breaking down the body into meat, consuming it and mounting the skull on their wall? Zero.

Because if black people had less rights then animals it would be out in the open with no sanction. I can hunt and consume animals legally, I cannot do so to my fellow citizens who are of African ancestry.
