Click on your name on the top bar - go to preferences and scroll down to the wee bit that says Holiday styling [ or something like it ] Click in the box and all these annoyances will be gone

The snowflakes have caused me to put on my electric woodburner (in flame effect mode only, got to save on the electric bill).
