When I was a new Believer, I would binge read the Bible. I would finish entire books in a day such as the Pauline Epistles, but those are quicker to read I find.

I would read up to 30 Chapters of Genesis in 1 day. Look up multiple Bible studies, I was even interested in learning the Greek and Hebrew. The history of Israel.

I have come very far I believe.

I am still as strong as a believer as I was when I first believed, but I am not reading the Bible daily or as frequently anymore. I am not tired of it, and I am not uninterested, I just sort of want to slow down.

I ask myself, how is it I believe the Bible is the word of God, yet I am not reading the entire Bible or even finished reading it?

I do know part of it has to do with the time commitment, I am a little overwhelmed if I read it for hours a day.

Now I'm starting to slow down. And read portions of it a day or weekly. With a hour long Bible study about once a month.

What helps me is listening to sermons from preachers I trust to speak the truth and think about the verses they quote or ask the listener to turn to.
another thing I do is to memorize verses over time. No big hurry, just read the same passages daily for months until it has become part of my psych, part of the way I think. Christ in me. :amen:

What is the point of reading if it is not retained? Read for wisdom when needed. I find this more fruitful rather than read for the sake of reading. The power is in His Holy Spirit. His inspired word tells us so.
Blessings.

I don't think there's any real value in reading just to read. Read when you're hungry for the Word. Far more important than reading is following through on what you have learned in your study of the Word. Serving God by serving others is the best way to move closer to God.

When you were a new believer you were building your foundation on the rock, now you have a solid house and are adding new treasure when you read bits here and there. You will go through phases of being more hungry for scripture but the verse that you reminded me of is, "Therefore every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old." Mathew 13:52

You have the old treasure which you read hungrily at the beginning, and the new which you read each day. Both are treasure and both are good. if you want a hunger for more pray and ask to be led by The Holy Spirit to verses

One habit that I've done for the last 37 years is to memorize God's Word daily for five minutes. It's not a lot, but through that I've memorized 10 Books out of the Bible. Right now I'm memorizing the Book of Deuteronomy. The main key here is to be faithful with it. Remember God's Word is your very Life. It's not an idle Word to you. In Deut. 6:6, It says to store God's Word into your heart. The Hebrew Word for heart here is LEVAV, which means your thoughts. There is nothing you can do about the past. It's gone. But continue in God's Word.

I used to smuggle Bibles onto ships from communist countries and saw people cry. Then I saw how important it is to have God's Word memorized... Start with a small Book like Philippians. If you memorize It for five minutes/day faithfully, you'll be amazed how far you come. Also read Psalm 119. There is great Instruction in there.

P.S. If you speak Spanish, we went to the studio and recorded Scripture Songs. This is one way that you can memorize large portions of the Bible. We got top notch musicians to sing them. Here is a sample. You're welcome to download them. They are meant to be given to churches.

The Dead Sea has fresh water flowing into it - but nothing flows out of it.

The Christian life "lives only to give to others". It cannot simply hoard truth into itself -- A believer cannot simply expand more and more and yet remain healthy... spiritual life will die out.

The Gospel is both transforming and revolutionary in its nature. It is not stagnant. Once you get the basics... share what you know. Find ways to learn more. Iron sharpens Iron.

I guarantee you - there is a vast field of truth to explore that is just beyond almost any truth you think you know on that very same topic. Share with others... compare notes.

Some study groups --- get into devotional style studies, but never "move".

When Moses met the Israelites in Egypt and lead them out of Egypt their theology expanded quite a bit.

When Christ met the Jews - the disciples of Christ experienced rapid growth in their theology.

When the NT church encountered the Apostle Paul - their theology expanded quite a bit.

Stagnation was never part of the plan.

Read Bible in a few days too. But get more out of it by taking a few verses and concentrating on those. There's so many resources available.

Awesome to think that our Creator has shared some of His wisdom with us. No matter "where we are" in the scheme of things, those gems are there.

Here's a quick example. Read '"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine..." (Pro 17:22) many times and didn't even really consider it, But when looking at ways to improve immune system, there it was.

God 's Word is living, active, truth. Just waiting for us to avail ourselves of Him and His Word.

The Word of God is our Spiritual food. When you pray ask the Lord for guidance in what scripture he wants you to feast and meditate on.
