One nation "Under God"

A while back there was a post concerning "Under God" being taken out of the pledge of allegiance. I had a remark, I believe, about if there was a war they would suddenly be putting God back into the pledge. I was watching television last night. They were showing the words to the pledge of allegiance and they included "under God" in the pledge. It was advertising support for our soldiers. It is pitiful that so many people suddenly remember God only in a time of crises. As soon as the trouble has passed they go right back to denying God. it reminds me of Moses leading his people out of Egypt. God set them free from slavery then they turn around and make a Golden Calf to worship and turn away from the very one who saved them.:(

Well, I have noticed that Christians are not being ridiculed quite as much at this time either. *sigh*, think that will last any length of time after the war ends?:sigh:

i get so aggrevated about this whole "under God" thing.people say it offends them that the words "under God" are in The Pledge of Allegiance.i have a few ...."opinions" about this:

1.)why hasn't it offended them until recently? The Pledge of Allegiance was ORIGINALLY written with "under God" in it and they are JUST NOW getting offended?????

2.)are they going to quit spending money? because our money says"In God We Trust".

3.)What about those of us that would be offended if they took"under God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance and "In God We Trust" off our money?

It sounds to me like there are a bunch of "out of work"(so to speak) protesters that are just looking for something to get them noticed.

Heaven knows I'm with you three on this issue, but I feel we should get our facts straight. The phrase "under God" has only been in the pledge for about 50 years or so. That's why the annoying little atheist trying to attack the pledge screams at the top of his lungs for people to "restore" the pledge.

Personally, I think if the phrase "under God" were to be taken out of the pledge, given it's an adjective to describe the position of the United States, it would seem to be the American government saying that we are no longer "under God." I think it is a good reminder that even though the U.S. is the only Super-Power in the world, we're not at the top of the food chain. To remove that phrase is to remove that reminder, and pretty soon you just might see people making the same claims about the U.S. that they claimed about the Titanic: "God himself could not sink her."
