This line of discussion reminds of the total miserableness of recent R presidents. Its like you either get:

a. colossal useless war built on lies, or
b. a guy who would sink the republic to further his own prospects.

Its not like the D alternatives have been objectively terrific. But by comparison just muddling though makes them look golden. Even considering that idiotic Clinton-intern thing.
Yeah I've got to admit Biden is tearing it up, his brilliant withdraw from Afghanistan that emboldened Putin to invade Ukraine, his brilliant handling of supply chain issues and inflation and more people dying of Covid under his watch than Trump's. Let's not forget his eloquent speeches and press conferences. Democrats should be in power for the next 50 years

....and after Jan 6th, I thought the consensus was the GOP would find better candidates for 2024. Yet, here we are....a party that as I write this is actively voting for and nominating election deniers (at all levels) to represent their party.
Me too.

Even Kevin McCarthey was visibly freaked out by how far things had gone after Jan 6. But when it became clear "the base" was still firmly in the grip of the delusion, he snuggled back up with them.

Lots of people dont like the way things are. Few can actually say what should be done differently.

*except for the "culture wars" issues, which is why those are so front and center in R discourse. Those can be 'won' by installing the right judiciary.

Seems to me it's the Democrats who have rallied support over the issue of abortion and are even improving in the polls

I will admit, Trump walked all over Joe when dealing with terrorists. Trump negotiated so well with the Taliban and all Joe had to do was follow the time line that Trump and the terrorists agreed to and sleepy Joe couldn't even stick to the script that was approved by Trump and the Taliban.

As for covid deaths, that too is true, but I had to take my shoes off to count up how many months Trump dealt with covid and how many months Biden dealt with it.

And who can forget the Biden toilet paper shortage of 2020? (And paper towels, and sanitizer, and, well, everything)

I'm going to have to get a hamberder and some covfefe before I can comment on the rest.

To be fair gas prices did come down some but we'll stop releasing from the strategic reserves right before the midterms and as demand goes up I look for gas prices to climb even higher than they were. Then there is this U.S. inflation at 9.1 percent, a record high
But this bill that just passed is going to fix that, right?

Yes but they are even more freaked out about us all losing the republic to the next madcap "alternate electors" type schemers the Rs are throwing up for consideration lately.

Probably not, I have never seen Inflation go down. And I lived through the 70s and 80s when it was a lot worse.

This one is so dumb.

Who could possibly think Afgh would end up in the control of anyone other than the sole party the Trump admin saw fit to negotiate our withdrawal with.

In the 80's I was working 3 jobs so I didn't have time to notice.

I only had one job, $3.35 an hour, 38.89 hours a week. When I got my first raise of 15 cents I realized that my check purchased less than it did 6 months prior.

People do not “hate Trump” so much as “think what Trump did was wrong”.

This is exactly what “hate the sin, love the sinner” looks like, only this time some think the sinner is just fine the way they are.

Metaphorically throwing rocks at Trump and everyone associated with him for the past 2 years is not what , "hate the sin, love the sinner” looks like.

Ha! She’s Dick Cheney’s daughter and this apple did not fall far from the tree. Her political career is not over.

And we know how Dick Cheney was treated by the MSM when his daughter wasn't in the spotlight being hailed as a hero for hating Trump.

But now that his daughter has made it her life's mission to incite hate against Trump, her father is suddenly seen in a different light.

She thinks it's Trump's fault she was defeated because he endorsed her opponent who won, so now she's playing the victim with Trump the center of her victimhood, and cause of it.

There's nothing the left loves more than playing the victim and hating Trump. ✔️ ✔️ On both.

She's right on target with the party of her heart... She's hoping for democrat votes, so hopefully she'll get a clue, decide to be honest and change her party affiliation. God knows the far left loves her.

If she switches parties, it will be fun to watch her opponent bring up the fact that she voted with Trump 90% of the time. That's assuming the DNC allows her to have any opponents.

I see the Republican Party as having a split personality. One side are Trump loyalists and the other are those that will never vote democratic. The later are slowly but surely looking for options besides Trump. As usual it will be the centrists who will swing the vote one way or another.

Cheney’s defeat was no surprise, but it is an especially bitter pill to swallow for the Never Trump former Republicans (as Charlie Sykes and I discussed in a podcast today) who saw Cheney as the last outpost of the party they once knew. Cheney nodded to the GOP’s free fall in her concession speech. “I believe deeply in the principles and the ideals on which my party was founded,” she told her supporters. “I love its history, and I love what our party has stood for, but I love my country more.”

Notice the use of the past tense there.

The idea of Liz Cheney ever running as a Democrat is even more laughable than when you all were saying Biden was going to alley-oop the presidency over to Harris within the first few months of taking office.

Don’t forget that thread about the Democrats throwing the 2020 election so that AOC would have a clear shot as soon as she was old enough to run for president.
