I don’t follow the news but perhaps the documents were classified as secret or below. Almost everything that the President gets is probably classified to some extent.

1. Why would that make a difference?
2. They were not. According to the inventory provided to Trump's lawyers after the search, there was at least one file marked Top Secret - SCI, which means that only certain people with Top Secret clearance or higher can view it - and only in special, highly-secure facilities.

Not a "Trump Supporter" myself (I voted third party in 2020) but this is exactly what my father told me. He said, more or less, "All the presidents do it. They are just looking to bust Trump." Seemed reasonable to me.

Trump didn't pack any of his own boxes. His aides did. And if Trump did happen to leave with secret documents, why did it take the government this long to figure it out and retrieve them? They had full access to his house in June and could've taken whatever they wanted. This is just perfect timing and a smokescreen. Biden is doing poorly, the Jan 6 commission is getting bad ratings on TV, so let's spice things up with a phony raid just before the elections and make him look REALLY guilty about something.

You know, the left has been doing this the entire time. They are sure they have proof of something. Something BIG. THIS is going to be the time Trump gets taken down! This one unknown source heard some hearsay that is definitely true! Oh wait, another disgruntled person wrote a book. It must be 100% factual! *rolls eyes* and all the lefties eat up every morsel because it fuels their hatred.

Donald gave his word that he would release his tax report. And it seems that he did not. Therefore, Trump supporters might not know everything or much about Donald, if they have not seen his tax record.

Likewise, they might not have a clue about documents at Donald's place. He could be keeping things secret from his supporters.

If he really is holding documents illegally, why might any former president maintain illegal papers? A person could possibly use the information for business purposes.

There is no reason, no motive. Now President Trump has a habit of keeping mementos, while you could see that when Melania and Trump left the White House that they were not carrying briefcases his aides must have packed up boxes. There would be no motive for President Trump not to declassify those records. It also preposterous for the President to steal the nuclear codes, it's not like that is something easy to fence. The Bidens and Pelosis have made tons of cash in dealing with the Chinese and other countries, look at the amount from just their sons. If you wanted to make money that is much safer and lucrative as is writing a book, giving speeches, documentaries, etc.

You do know that oddly enough, decassifying documents, doesn't make it legal to have them. Plus despite what trump thinks, thinking, "This is declasified." doesn't make it so.

Despite what you think the President has authority to declassify documents. Neither you nor Liz Cheney nor the National Archives has the power to override the President of the United States.
