Do most Democrats support BLM?
Defund The Police

BLM means both the idea and a large number of specific organizations. Speaking for myself, I support BLM the idea, but none of the specific organizations. So it may be hard to measure that. But since you bring up 'Defund the Police'.

A (slim) majority of Democrats say they are more likely to vote for a candidate "who supports funding the police".

That's good. Maybe they are realizing that defunding the police is not the way to deal with the problems they want to address.

It was only in the feverish fear dreams from some on the right that 'most Democrats wanted to defund the police'. Democrats have not had to 'realize' anything.

Hopefully the Republicans will not beat around the bush and immediately start passing legislation that outlaws all other political parties so when Trump rightfully takes his position as undisputed leader of the world things will go a lot smoother.

Yes! I like your confidence that Trump will rightfully take his position as undisputed leader of the world! Don't forget to vote in 2024.

How can a hashtag riot?

Then I guess the rioters had no idea what they were doing when they carried signs around with the words that BLM stands for, or when they spray painted the words onto the remains of buildings they destroyed, or why they even chanted the words hundreds of times. They must have just been rioting for the sake of rioting.

If/when the Republicans take over the majority in Congress in November, I suspect the feelings about who likes which agencies will shift again once investigations by the Republicans into actions by the other side get going. And trust me, there will be quite a few investigations on the way.
<Looks at the Benghazi investigating>

We believe you. Maybe you can highlight the Durham investigation? I hear it is looking into the horrible corruption of anyone who had the audacity to investigate trump.

Sure, they say that now. Or at least 5 months ago when the poll you reference in your link was taken. Go back a year or more when that wasn't the case, shortly after George Floyd, etc. happened. I think those who were for "defund the police" are now seeing the increase in crime and are re-thinking their position.

That seems to be the case in the Seattle area, where after events like CHOP happened, a lot of officers left (including the Chief of Police at the time). Now, Seattle crime is up and officers are still leaving faster than can be replaced. As a result, the City council is increasing hiring bonuses for officers.

They knew what they were doing but the rioting wasn't organized by any group. I and a dozen people can get together and call ourselves whatever we want. Does that mean that whatever hashtag we used was responsible for our behavior?

The people who wanted to create chaos did that, and the people who wanted to protest peacefully did that. Does the hashtag they used to describe themselves make their cause the same? Obviously not. The moniker was picked up by anybody that wanted to use it for their own purposes.

There is no BLM think tank coordinating riots across the country. It's a boogyman that the right uses to spread fear and fill the ballot boxes. "Only we can save you from the boogyman BLM," "Only we can save you from the Taliban," "Only was can save you from Communism." Only we can save you from gay indoctrination," and on and on.

BLM is a t-shirt manufacturer who coined the phrase the fastest. Many other "activists," write blogs and tweets under the hashtag but nothing unites them into a comprehensive program.. of action.
