I just wanted to ask for prayers for my Dad, that he would come to know Christ and be saved. He's 81, his name is John, and he's really my only social contact, although we only get together once a week and then don't talk about much when we're together. I guess I'm about his only social contact as well. We're both basically loners.
Anyway, I've prayed many times that the Lord would show me an opportunity to breach the subject with my Dad, and that He'd give me the words to say. But whenever I think an opportunity comes up, my mind just goes completely blank. It's almost as if God is saying, "I have nothing for you to say." Long ago, I've said things, but my Dad couldn't be less interested in such things. He's not hostile, but rather indifferent. He's of the "Ok, that's fine if you believe that. Everyone's different" mentality. So I've been praying for my Dad, that the Lord would influence him to become interested in spiritual things, to come to Christ, and be saved. I figure God knows what to do. But then again, He works through people, so I'm not sure where I fit in, assuming I do.
So that's why I'm taking this step in asking other Christians to pray for my Dad. Perhaps Christ's "wherever two or more are gathered" rule will be what it takes. He also said that whatever we ask according to His will, He will do. Since He's not willing that anyone should perish, I can't imagine how He would not answer a prayer for someone to be saved. That certainly should apply if two or more are praying for that, right?
