I'm reserving judgment until I see what the exact charge turns out to be, what the justification for the warrant was, and what the evidence turns out to be.

It's possible for the government to hunt and hunt through the personal life of somebody they don't like, until they finally find something. That's not good.

It is also possible for an elected official to do something that's actually illegal, or to have done something illegal before they were elected to office. (I remember VP Agnew, for example.)

Once the charges and evidence are made public, we'll be in a better position to discern which of the two situations we're in. Bergstein's column seems overblown, but let me get back to you in a month or two when I know more.

That's an argument from silence. You can't make a positive case of the intention of the person. To do so would mean you can read their thoughts. You are the one invading here as if to say, "I demand that I can participate in all the threads here even though I don't fit the scope of what this forum is about."

I wouldn’t hold my breath for anything of substance to materialize. What has panned-out from any of the other wild goose chases, remember the Mueller witch hunt? Dems got caught on that one and January 6th isn’t going anywhere, so they just needed some new implied wrong-doings to hold over Trump’s head during the mid-terms… and it will still be on-going at the 2024 election, and thereafter.

Or people who just don't want to fight. I admit whenever people posting start sounding like they just want to fight I tune out anymore.

Too much fighting since 2015, and that's just honest. Sometimes people just want to share an opinion without having to defend it to the death. Discussion is one thing but normal discussion pretty much ended 7 years ago.

Two points...

1. All of those things could be true, they exist as possibilities in reality.
2. There's probably no real evidence for almost every claim made in that article.

That said, sure...I also feel like the Democrats have overreached on issues of freedom of speech....particularly online.

And sure, this seems like a poorly timed move to take the focus off Democrats and put it on Trump that may backfire completely....if they don't have any evidence, it could get ugly fast.

But on the other hand....

Should any evidence of a crime exist....Trump should be held accountable. I don't know what they're looking for, I don't know if it's there....I just know it better be good, because this looks like dirty politics and that's how about half the nation will see it if they don't have something serious. A dead body. Love letters to Putin. A secret plan to unleash a virus killing millions....
