Have any of you heard of the book and movie called 'Redeeming Love?" It is based on the Biblical story of Hosea, when God orders His servant to marry a prostitute. This novel takes place in the 1850s California gold rush, is about a man of God, Michael Hosea, a farmer, who prays for God to bring him a wife. The woman he sees in town that he believes is the one God sent, happens to be a prostitute at the local brothel.
This unfortunate woman has a tragic history, she was forced into prostitution as a child after her mother died. Her mother was the only person who ever showed her real love, and she died while the woman was a young child. The prostitute went by the name Angel. Angel had a hard time with real love, she mocked Christian faith and marriage. Michael showed her true love, most of all he showed her God's love. The book and movie is about Godly, spiritual love that is forgiving and changes, redeems hard hearts and that married love that is pure and kind is better than animal lust that has no deep feelings and compassion. Marriage is not slavery, prostitution is slavery, and God rescues her from an evil pimp who is a wicked cruel pedophile who terrorizes little girls. Angel helps out other young women who are prostitutes and want to reform and live a better life. She goes back to Michael and they have a little boy and one on the way, it shows her fishing with Michael with a pregnant belly and a little 3 or 4 year young boy.
I like the book by Francine Rivers, and I was delighted when I discovered there was a movie. it encourages me to write stories of my own and keep reading Christian authors.
