Hi, just as a preface, this is not role-model behavior, but I've been derelict on going to confession for the second consecutive week, for a couple of reasons. One being that my "favorite" confessor is on vacation until August 13. He knows my sins already and I don't feel like I have to explain as much to him. The "runner-up" confessor has only two one-hour time slots during the week for confession, which is odd considering how large his parish is. The commonsense solution would be to make an appointment, but I've been lazy in this, giving the excuse that I have to make sure I have made a thorough examination of conscience (which is not a bad excuse and for me has a lot of truth to it, but I'm kind of using this excuse for the wrong reason). I want to shape up and not become like this for the following week, because I want the Eucharist again.

I cant relate to what you're saying because I have never been to a catholic confessional. I never understood why people think its a good idea to tell a stranger your sins. it doesn't make sense. If Jesus Christ is our mediator why do we confess to a human who has sins just like us? what good does this do?
Also, If we have repented of our sins, in basic terms if we feel sorry and turn away from these things, why do we continue in the same sin, only having to return to the same old dude behind a screen? I have never asked a catholic these questions so sorry if i come across as rude or something i dont mean it like that. Anywho God bless you my friend! much love and blessings.

HI Lady Bug, you need to check me on this but I believe that you can accept the Eucharist as long you do not have a mortal sin because all other sins are confessed and given absolution in the mass itself.

just to give you a quick answer, when a priest hears confession and gives absolution he is acting "in persona Christi" Christ Himself is acting through the priest as if the priest is Christ. Hope that helps you.

Great link WA. I'll try to find some time this weekend to comment on it.
I would make time to read it, it is excellent and won't take long at all, I think it will help you, especially the 2nd suggestion.

Talk with your confessor +/- confession, if possible. IT sounds like you are dealing with scrupulosity. It's no fun, I also have it.

God bless you and keep you!

Take care

Although I do have scrupulosity issues, I still have some mortal sins :|

Go to confession ASAP if there are mortal sins involved.

God bless
I found a confession time at 5:30 this afternoon at this one church. I'm not sure I liked the priest, because I kind of lingered on an certain issue and I couldn't help but disagree with him and I can't tell whether he liked a question I asked at the end (though I tried to appear respectful of course). The problem is now, the jury is out whether or not I can go to Mass tomorrow. The morning one is out of the question but there is an evening one, but the way I am, I can't guarantee even that one. What the heck is wrong with me these days :|

Whether you can receive the Eucharist is just one question, but don't let that stop you from going to mass.
To do that would be compounding your problem.
I think that the first problem to work on would be making your heart available for God to work on.
Ask God for His help.
Tell Him that you are stuck, and that you want to be with Him.
That's a big hurdle, but if your heart is missing Him, the first thing to do is to check the direction of your head:
Is it facing Him, or are your eyes, your heart, your feet, and your body all turned away from Him?
So work on that first.
Become available to God.
There is a hymn, the chorus of which begins thusly:
"Here I am, Lord.
Is it I Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart."
