No. It's not effective, and you can't defeat sin by sin. We can, however, say with a clear conscience "The Lord rebuke you!" or "Jesus has defeated you!" or something to that effect. We don't get to curse Satan, but God has defeated Him, and we can confess that truth in simplicity.

Thank you, that was helpful.

You should read the book Deliverance Prayers for the Laity. It is very detailed on the authority of the laity and what we can pray and how to do it.
The good news is that you have the authority to drive Satan from yourself and your house.

Its worth the read

I can't help but ask this, but can you directly tell Satan "blank you"? ("Blank" being a particular cuss word)
What did Jesus do when Satan temped him....do the same:amen:

As this is OBOB I would be most grateful if non-Catholic posters would read the SoP for this area Statement of Faith - OBOB Statement of Purpose before posting

Your co-operation with this is greatly appreciated

That sounds like a good book :)

Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”
I have not been looking at the NT for years :|:| I've been preoccupied with reading the OT that I forgot what the NT says about certain things.

I'd rather not engage with the devil. Just simply pray a Hail Mary or St. Michael Prayer IMHO.

Unfortunately I've done countless of those prayers and I don't feel they're working. :|

We need prayers, but we also need the sacraments. Don’t you see that Satan is trying to keep you away from Mass to weaken you?

He tells you that Mass is boring and people there are not friendly, you are better off not going, but you are not better off. Your spirit is greatly weakened without the Eucharist.
If you are having struggles, I would take the advice of someone else in this tread and go to daily Mass. Pray to Mary to find Jesus in the Mass and in the sacraments. Receive Him as she did, with reverence and love.

the Our Father has us ask God to give us this day our daily bread. I can’t help but think that is referring to daily Mass. Satan wants to weaken you, don’t let him

I actually do, in a few ways.
He tells you that Mass is boring and people there are not friendly
I don't find Mass boring. I can't decide about the people.
If you are having struggles, I would take the advice of someone else in this tread and go to daily Mass.
That's possible right now, but once I work, I don't know how I'll be able to do that :|
I can’t help but think that is referring to daily Mass
I saw someone else say this too. This might be correct.
