I don't see how those questions were of any help until the police asked them...

It didn't help when Dave Yost or Jim Jordan were asking -- but to be fair, they never planned on helping her.

Similarly, Kristi Norm was looking to score points with her constituents; Jesse Walters and Emily Compagno were looking for ratings; verily, they have their rewards.

If you think about it for a few weeks, the reason might eventually start to show.
Could be that the story going viral and people asking questions motivated the police to make an arrest.

The weird thing is that the police would have been asking them on June 22nd or 23rd....and would have had an arrest warrant for the rapist the same day.

Columbus man charged in rape of 10-year-old that led to abortion

Detectives knew about the case on the 22nd.

Yet it appears this girl was sent back home to live with her rapist.

When the Ohio AG started asking around about this case after the story broke....all he got was crickets. Nobody knew anything. Thankfully, he went on Fox News to cast doubt on the whole story.

At this point, Columbus police couldn't possibly hope that the case would go away, so they promptly did what they should have done 3 weeks earlier and arrested the rapist.

Now....maybe they're the slowest and dumbest police force in history. I doubt it. Columbus is a sanctuary city....and they probably didn't want to let an illegal child rapist put all the other illegals at risk.

So no....it doesn't appear that Columbus PD was doing their job. It appears that for completely political reasons, they were willing to ignore a child rapist in their city. They only moved when they absolutely had to.

Thank goodness Roe v Wade was overturned or this girl would just be left at the mercy of her rapist. Thanks to the Ohio AG and all the representatives that you mentioned for shining a light on this case.

No thanks for all the soft hearted liberals who allowed this to happen. You know those crooked cops the left keeps complaining about? Pretty sure we found some....go get em.

What helped her was all the people who said "What about the rapist? Has he been arrested? Is he still free?"...Without that, she'd be going back home with her mother after the abortion....to live with her rapist.

The weird thing is that the police would have been asking them on June 22nd or 23rd....and would have had an arrest warrant for the rapist the same day.

That is doubtful. Police investigations take time. Seldom are arrests in these kinds of matters made on the same day. I've made reports with video evidence that didn't result in same day arrests. My experience has been that police take preliminary reports, talk to the prosecutor's office to see what charges the evidence will support so that charges stick. Only then is an arrest made.

DCS, on the other hand, is different. Children's Services can do an emergency removal on the spot to protect a child. I have not read any tell-all reports about what DCS did and when they did it. We are unlikely to see such reports due to privacy. So, the assumption that she may have gone home to a rapist might not be correct depending upon whether DCS put safeguards in place immediately once reports were filed. For all I know she might be in foster care or a relative placement, or have been in one temporarily until the arrest was made. There is still a lot we don't know--and may never know.

That's nice.

Meanwhile, the rapist got caught, and he, not the ten-year-old, is the criminal. All's well that ends well.

Here's the problem then....

If you're claiming that she had to leave the state....then you're claiming that you have the knowledge that she wouldn't be harmed by the pregnancy (and therefore wouldn't be able to get the abortion in Ohio).

If she was going to be harmed....she could have gotten it in Ohio.

See how that works?

I'm not 'claiming' that she had to leave the state. She actually did so, to get an abortion. You stated quite categorically that she didn't have to. With zero information to back that up.

That's not 'how it works'. That's what actually happened.

For some reason a lot of foolish people were more concerned about her getting an abortion.

Well, here's the thing. I don't know about the rest of the guys here but I can chew gum and walk down stairs at the same time.

I was concerned about her because she was a ten year old girl that had to leave her state to get help for a pregnancy that was caused by her being raped. Even IF she didn't suffer 'permanent bodily harm', does any reasonable person think that a ten year old rape victim should not receive all the help that she needs and that carrying a pregnancy to term would definitely have negative consequences (not necessarily enough for the Ohio AG to ban it)?

I for one never mentioned anything about her mental health after all this. And the effects on her family. And the trauma of actually going through with an abortion. Does that mean I'm not concerned about them? Does that make me foolish?

Could be -- but if the people who accused her of faking it are waiting for a thank you note...

You're concerned about her health?

All true. This situation is difficult to prove as having actually happened (would you like your daughter's name spread all over the media world wide?). But please...let's not kid ourselves. Situations very much like this are going to happening in very many states from now on in.

I mean, seriously...what did you really think was going to happen. It wasn't that long ago that hypotheticals like this were presented to those who supported an abortion ban and they were asked what could be done. And we got...crickets. A deathly silence. It went straight into the Too Hard Basket.

So to say 'Hey, but it might not have happened' is to miss the point entirely. And to switch the discussion with a few comments about law and order and 'what about the rapist?' is to ignore the point entirely.

You said "what about the rapist?" misses the point....entirely.

The point for you isn't about the fact that she's being sent back home with her rapist....it's about making sure she gets an abortion.

Don't kid yourself, because you aren't kidding me. She has been used as tool to advance a political narrative. People who don't care about her health or safety....at least not enough to concern themselves with a child rapist.

Uhhh...we're talking about a child rapist here. He was identified, by the child, to the detective.

I've made reports with video evidence that didn't result in same day arrests. My experience has been that police take preliminary reports, talk to the prosecutor's office to see what charges the evidence will support so that charges stick. Only then is an arrest made.

Well lets see....we've got a pregnant 9yo, so we can prove rape, and an aborted person, so we can undeniably prove guilt....on June 30th.

But they waited until 2 days after the Ohio AG brought attention to the case to make an arrest. Also, they forgot to tell him about it when he asked....you know....those forgetful cops.

So, the assumption that she may have gone home to a rapist might not be correct depending upon whether DCS put safeguards in place immediately once reports were filed.

Upon the question of setting bail, the defense attorney pointed out that his client, the confessed rapist, could live at his own residence instead of the child's where he lived for some time.

It ends well when her negligent, rapist protecting mother gets booted back to wherever she's from....

You know what the best part is? He's Guatemalan, so he probably has no idea what's going to happen to him as a 5'4, less than 150lb Guatemalan in big boy prison. He better learn how to say "protective custody ".

You're concerned about her health?

There are those who are concerned for her health and well being. All aspects of both. And there are those who want to use that concern as an excuse to claim that her tragic position is being used as political grist for the mill. And have not indicated any compassion for the girl whatsoever.

I say shame on them.

Nice try. You said she did not have to leave. There has been nothing shown to indicate that to be true. You've been asked for any reason why you know that to a fact. You have come up empty.

You said she did have to leave....

If you are as depressed as most people that a child has to travel interstate to obtain an abortion after she has been raped then it's not something you can blame on anyone else.

Good grief man...

You have been shown the exact terminology of the Ohio laws. She did in fact travel interstate to get an abortion. It is beyond doubt that the wording of the law does not specifically say that potential damage to a woman (a child in this case) would allow an abortion. Either why not specifically say it? It already says that potential mental damage isn't covered so it is very probable that it wouldn't.

You've said your piece. I've nothing to add. You've made your position crystal clear.

I say shame on them.

Let me state this as simply and slowly as possible....

Child protective services, and likely Columbus PD, either covered this up because Columbus is a sanctuary city....or they used her as a political tool.

The only reason why this girl didn't get an abortion in Ohio....and then get sent home to be continually abused by her rapist....is because of the change in laws and the people who brought attention to the story.

Do you understand that now? She'd still be getting raped if it wasn't for the change in laws.

I read it as slowly as I could. And that was the only part that made any sense.

If you're struggling with the rest of it....go back and read my previous posts.

Or just check the time-line and try to think really hard.

What day did the mother initiate contact with cps in Ohio?
What day was this information given to Columbus PD?
What day was the first article about this written? The one completely ignoring the rape?
Why did Columbus PD deny knowledge of the case?
How many days went by before AG Yost and others began to cast doubt on the narrative? Is it likely that Yost contacted Columbus PD, who I assume work across the street from him, regarding the case?
Why would it possibly take 3 weeks to remove the victim from the home of the offender? Especially since they had 100% proof of his guilt at least after the first week?

There's really only one obvious reason....this woman is also likely here illegally and her negligent behavior should get her removed....and she can take her 5 kids with her. Have we even checked on whether or not he was raping the other children? Columbus is a sanctuary city....and people tend to change their minds about those things when they realize that they are giving sanctuary to child rapists....but that's the reality of it.

Just in case there's any doubt in anyone's mind....this is what a child rape case investigation typically looks like...

Austin Stovall Georgia man charged with child rape in Kennesaw | 11alive.com

They didn't even know who this man was...and they secured an arrest warrant under 24 hours. Basically everyone prioritizes these crimes....normally.

For some strange reason....Columbus PD didn't bother finding out the identity of the rapist until the beginning of June, well after being informed of the crime, and after her extremely important abortion was secured. Once they had his identity....they sat on it....and waited until national attention brought heat to the case. It took at least another week before they secured the warrant (after that national attention) and arrested the rapist.

Sanctuary cities.
