I'm not supposed to feel like this but sometimes I want a break from going to church

I like Mass in general. It is fulfilling (unless the homily is subpar), even though I have some things that are bothering me about it ("minor" issues). But sometimes I just want to take a break from going to church, but that's a no-no, I get that. That's not to say I wouldn't feel bad as a result of not going to Church on a particular Saturday/Sunday. I know I would...

One option is to go Saturday or on Sunday afternoon. Do something different Sunday morning, a picnic or a swim or something. Or go visit a different parish. In any case it will change things up so you feel like you had a break.

I've been going Saturdays, but I'm not sure if it will be that way indefinitely. I visit different parishes, but I feel miserable after the services because I don't know anyone there. I don't mean to be obtuse here, but I'm going through some hell right now.

((((hugs)))) the best way to get to know people is to stay in the one parish that is best for you and then reach out to others via fellowship after the service and maybe getting involved in church activities.

If I hear you correctly you want to know people and be known by people. For that a long consistent effort at one particular mass would work better.

You're right but I can't decide where I want to be; it's been this way for many months now. I wish I could be more decisive.

I don't know if this is an option for you, but what I have found is that the week day masses have a smaller attendance, and it's easier to get to know people there. Worth a try?

I feel for you LadyBug, I really do. Seems like you want to make friends at Mass, and you feel hurt that you can't. I grew up most of my life lonely, and I know what it is like to be lonely in a crowd. Mass is where we go to meet Jesus, and He gives Himself to us Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. It is very important as the Eucharist cleanses us from venial sin and decreases our desire for sin.
You may be under spiritual attack, as Satan and the evil spirits do not want us to be near the Lord. They will take you away from Mass if you let them.
First thing to do when hurt is ask your Mother for help. Do you pray the Rosary? Have you studied Marian devotion? A simple Memore?
Then I would look for other activities in Church such as a Bible study or prayer group. There should be a number of apostolates that you can check out. If not at your church, maybe in your town. I couldn't find one at my church, so I started my own. We get together and talk about different aspects of the Catholic Faith and encourage each other. You need fellowship and encouragement; you are in my prayers
