Hi All,

I'm having an incredibly difficult time in my life. I'm moving overseas and my four precious pet rats cannot come with me, they are not allowed on planes and the shipping company would cost $6000-8000. I tried for a week but chickened out with a loan.

The boys have been rehomed since Friday at around 3:20pm and every single day I cry and sob for them.
I keep in touch with the new owners a lovely couple who care for the boys, but I see my beloved pets who LOOOVED me sooo much completely heartbroken. My favorite one barely opens his eyes, it's half open, the light and luster from his joyous eye is gone. The other one sleeps and looks sooo hurt inside, as is my favorite one, completely broken inside.

I left a voicemail message so the boys would hear my voice but I'm not sure it was ever played for them. The new owners won't let me come over to visit them a last time. I asked to be in the park, waiting for reply but it might be a negative as well. I honestly WISH I had euthanized my boys this is sooo hard, difficult. For the pain, emotional pain they are going through. I asked them back on Sunday so I'd stay for one more year, I was told no, they had invested a lot in the boys, they have 14 pet rats altogether at the moment.

Is there a way out? Will I see my beloved and heartbroken pet rats, animals, in Heaven for SURE one day? Or after Friday afternoon, this was the absolute last time I saw them and touched them, felt their warmth. This came out to be way more difficult than I ever thought and wished I'd stayed for one more year at least. I wish I could see more in the future.

Please let me know of NDEs, people who are not lying or polishing the truth, did they see their beloved pets in Heaven?

Thank you in advance. My pain is sooo much I can barely take it, I can't focus. I love my boys a HUGE lot.

Thank you,

M

Miss you forever on this Earth boys. I will always love you. See you in Heaven, if I'm allowed into Heaven. We will worship God together and with the family forever. <3

From what I can tell about the after life pets don't go to heaven because they do not have spirits according to Scripture. The Good news is if you love animals they should be part of things at some point when God restores the Earth, "In the New Jerusalem", where "the lion will lie down with the lamb" etc.

I of course am aware that people sometimes claim "heavenly visons" and near death experiences that contradict this, and I could be wrong. But then again, these experiences themselves may be some kind of hallucination from the brain and not something really taking place metaphysically.

Hi @Melinda2022 ,

I'm very sorry for your loss.

I myself am an animal lover, and so I know the sorrow over losing a pet that we love. And sometimes it is the more difficult thing to do, to rehome them.

I've needed to rehome a pet twice, and the last time I did, it was very very hard for me to do. I loved that sweet, special cat very much. But I rehomed him because I knew it was what was best for him.

It was a very loving and unselfish thing that you did, to find a new home for your boys.

Your boys do probably miss you too, and probably wonder what is happening to them now, but I do believe ... with some time ... that they will adjust to their new environment with their new brothers and sisters. Most times, as long as animals are being fed and taken care of properly, it does seem that they will eventually adjust.

... and I think it will be very helpful to your boys, that the four brothers were rehomed together. Being together should help them alot during their time of readjustment.

Many of us do wonder if we will see our pets again in heaven ...

I personally do hope to see mine again, though there is no clear evidence of this in the Bible. But God loves us, knows what is important to us, and so why not expect that He might surprise us with seeing our pets again, when we get to heaven! It would be just like the Loving God that He is, to surprise us in this way!

I have a friend who has studied this subject in the Bible, because he, too, is an animal lover. This is the response he posted on his website, when asked this question. Maybe something he has written will be an encouragement to you:

20. WILL OUR PETS GO TO HEAVEN? - GOD's ARMY, CONTENDING for the FAITH (armyofprophets.com)

Again, I am very sorry for your loss. You really did the best you could do for your boys, even though it hurts so much right now. I will be praying for you, that God will comfort you and give you the strength that you need to get thru this difficult time.

:rose:

They have the spirit as every living creature. And the spirit will return to God who gave him.

Whether the animal spirit can keep the personality (soul) of your pet without its body, we do not know. You can either ask for it or let God to do the best.

It will be a worthwhile thing for you to finish mourning your pets and move on. It seems like many treat their pets as children and children as pets. They keep their pets with them and send their children away any chance they get. I'm not talking about you particularly, but acquaintances of mine.

But I'll give my opinion about your topic. Since there seems no distinct delineation between the serpent in the garden and his spiritual entity Satan, it makes me wonder if angels and animals might be inextricably linked. So while I don't believe the animals are resurrected, which I think is necessary for an earthly creature subject to death to "be" in
heaven, the spirit of the animals that so please us on earth might be--not a ghost of the pet, but the general spirit of like-ability and congeniality, perhaps through an angel, that might have been provided by God temporarily during a time of heartbreak or depression to keep us from harming ourselves, that indwelt the pet, which angel, doing God's will, no doubt will still be with us in the resurrection. But just like we won't be married to our spouses then, we also won't be dependent on our pets then, because we will have realized that all our needs are met only by the Lord--something he is currently trying to teach us.

Hey Melinda2022 :) This as we know we can't find a verse for. That being said what ever God creates is life. So do animals have a soul? We read everywhere they don't. Now go search into how do they know this? Lol yeah they don't. Did you know everything in creation is alive? Christ said "Jesus replied, “I tell you, if these [people] keep silent, the stones will cry out [in praise]!” Now if you search on that we find most will say no stones are just rocks no life. Well we look at a rock and.. yeah there is no life in it. God does not create death but life. Christ said the stones will cry out. He says what He means and means what He says. Its the same as if you have faith as a mustered see that MTN if you tell it to move has to move. Man comes in and ..no no what Jesus aka GOD...hello GOD.. really meant was MTN in your life. No that tree died He told it to.. and that MTN? With FIATH it will move. So those stones would have cried out in praise..

See its not God saying they are soulless, spiritless its man. We know there are horses in heaven.. what soulless in heaven? So be of good cheer.. I truly believe with no doubt our pets will be in heaven. Pray and ask Him if you still doubt. You will get a peace about them being in heaven.

Good, yet a peculiar question. While Scripture says that we are waiting for a new heaven and earth (2 Peter 3:13), there is no clear indication that our pets would follow us there. It is a bit odd coming from a biblical perspective, since animals were not given the same social status in those times as they are today. When you think about it like that, it is very likely that such a thing didn't, nor would there have been a reason, to come into the mind of the biblical writers.

Thank you so much everyone, especially mourningdove, GoldenKingGaze, myst33, Derf and Blade.
Yes, I've always called my favorite one :) my angel and told the new owner he is an angel in disguise. (But he might have thought that about me...) but just the hurt now in his eyes. He always, always, always faced me and looked at me with such love in his eyes...even when we were in separate rooms, he'd face me. Only him of the four would do this. I had 13 pet rats, all boys, total, I have 9 that passed away but rehoming is much, much harder than them passing away. I always told them they'd do go to Heaven. They know what die means, and I told them soon, very soon, I will die inside. I kept telling them this for the past little over a month now. But that we will be together in Heaven once again, one day. I love the three younger ones too but him, he is my angel...whose heart I shattered...and then I because doubtful and wanted to ask, because breaking his heart and shattering it is one thing, and the other three boys' as well, but to just cease to exist afterwards would be heartbreaking for me to process.
Many thanks for your truthful, promising replies. Unfortunately I might have to wait long decades to find out the answer, if I get there, but even if I would one day, wait for so many decades. :( I wouldn't even mind death anymore, to be honest.

Many thanks.

xx,
M

I also know pets, animals, even insects, as Blade said, everything alive has a spirit, a soul. I know my boys do, and all of them did. The fact that they love me, and are so excited to see me at home, are now heartbroken, if this is not a spirit, a soul, then I don't know what is. They are completely innocent beings who can't sin. They are light. God called them GOOD. I was just so very sad that I genuinely questioned it, in case heaven is just for humans...humans' souls. But the grass, flowers, trees there, the water being alive there. Then why not animals, pets and non-pets?
Thank you once again.

I'm still mourning their loss. No response yet from new owners. I will never give up a pet in the future, if I ever have one in the future. No way. Nor will I ever move without a pet. I'm staying in one place now. I have experienced this, this is and was too much for me. I will not wish to experience this again in my life. I wanted to cremate my favorite one like I did my previous favorite one in September 2020. I can't cremate him now and have his little ashes. I wanted to hold him when he was going to die, like I held 7/9 of his brothers as they took their last breath and heart gave out. The fact that I won't ever be there for when he is sick and deadly ill, and will die, also breaks my heart. The abandonment. Extremely hard to live with. I learned never, ever, to give away what I have, to a stranger, or strangers. Never ever. These are my boundaries.
xx

sorry, for the many replies. Just received a new photo <3 we're good, and my precious second oldest one's eyes are barely open too. He used to always, always, always audibly voice his joy, his excitement, rather, sheer happiness, when we all played each night, the voice of hu-hu-hu, if you ever had pet rats, you'll know what I'm referring to. <3 They give that sound when they are happy, telling you how much they love you and do that when they play and chase each other too, play tag, for example, until someone will go sideways ^_^ with arched back...^_^
But now, his eyes as he is eating too, is barely open. He too, is crushed. They do have souls, they do have a unique spirit each.
First night I'm going home from work to an empty apartment without the boys. :( Thank you all for your help in this.
This is also helping too.

The Bible doesn't address the matter of pets being in Heaven. But Scripture does tell us that in Heaven "the wolf and the lamb shall feed together." Isaiah 65:25. So we know that animals will be there. Why not our furbabies?

BTW, Martin Luther said "If, when you get to Heaven, you want your dog there, it will be there."

So I have four rats, all boys, and I can only imagine your hurt and pain. They have a reputation as pests, but honestly I find them (at least my four) to be more expressive of love, appreciation, and tenderness than even dogs are.

I tend to think if God goes through the trouble to grant such distinct, magical, unique spirit to them, then there is a purpose for their souls and a chance for being reunited.

I also think that if they mourn you as well, it’s a testament to how well you loved and nurtured them. I know it seems hard, but they will recover and settle in with time. They’re social animals who build strong community bonds and they will turn to each other to get through this change, just like I’m sure they did when the other 9 rats who were with them passed. I’m sure that doesn’t make it easier, but I hope it gives some level of hope.

Ephesians 1
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace
8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding,
9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,
10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

I don't think Scripture can provide us with a clear answer to such a question.

That said, Scripture affirms in many places that when God makes all things new that it is for the whole of creation; even more, animals are specifically mentioned in several places. Which is to say animals will without a doubt be part of the future age.

Will my doggo be there? I hope so, I pray that this is so. But I can't know so. But I am inclined toward the depth of God's mercy, and to the affirmation that nothing truly good shall ever be lost. The relationships which we have with our animals are meaningful, and I don't believe that what is good and lovely is destroyed, but it beatified and made whole in Christ. It's why I also believe that things like art won't be lost.

What does that mean, exactly? How does that play out in the details? We don't know and can't know.

Whatever that is truly good of this world will remain good in the future world. Otherwise Paul's statement in 1 Corinthians 15 that our present labors shall not be in vain becomes vain. What we do here matters, what happens here matters. The Age to Come is not hitting the reset button on the universe, but a transformation by the power of God's love and grace; there is an eternal continuance of what is good even as what is not good is cleansed or burned up in fire.
