What do you think of these films, from a Biblical POV?
Why did Hollywood decide to make this trilogy about the antichrist. According to historians of theology the whole Biblical teaching about the Anti-Christ had dropped right out of view during the 19th century. Then in the 1970s there was the Rapture movies such as a Thief in the Night and its sequels, and from Hollywood - The Omen Trilogy. I think the latter are just a horror, suspense franchise - with a Bible verse or two thrown in, not intended to accurately reflect Biblical teaching.
Watching the first Omen at a fairly young age I found it very disturbing. Particularly I didn't like the idea of Damien being pre-ordained and just having to accept that destiny. That is one thing I would like to discuss, if there is going to be a anti-christ in the sense of a single individual - (which some theologies such as protestant historicism would disagree with - believing that the Man of Sin doesn't refer to one individual but a dynasty). But if there is going to be a single individual is there any choice of their own involved, or must they just accept that is their destiny?
