Dear Brothers and Sisters,

All the Mass readings today are beautiful and hopefully you will take time to listen with the ears of your hearts and ponder all the Lord says to us, that by God’s Grace we may learn from Him and do His Truth as Mary our Mother did.

It seems the Alleluia Verse and the Gospel are always first in my heart so I post them and trust the Lord will give us each His Grace to receive the Truth He gives that we may do His Truth, remaining in Him throughout this day, and every day He gives us.

Alleluia (See Lk 1:76) - “You, child, will be called prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare His way.”

Gospel (Lk 1:57-66, 80)

When the time arrived for Elizabeth to have her child she gave birth to a son. Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown His great mercy toward her, and they rejoiced with her. When they came on the eighth day to circumcise the child, they were going to call him Zechariah after his father, but his mother said in reply, “No. He will be called John.” But they answered her, “There is no one among your relatives who has this name.”So they made signs, asking his father what he wished him to be called. He asked for a tablet and wrote, “John is his name,” and all were amazed. Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed, and he spoke blessing God. Then fear came upon all their neighbors, and all these matters were discussed throughout the hill country of Judea. All who heard these things took them to heart, saying, “What, then, will this child be?” For surely the hand of the Lord was with him. The child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the desert until the day of his manifestation to Israel.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your Faithful. Kindle in us the Fire of Your Love. Increase in us Your Gifts that we may hear and do the “Fullness of Truth” that the Father and Jesus sent You to bring to the Church. Fill us as you filled Mary with Jesus Who is our Way, our Truth and our Life. Enable us to grow in Holiness today and evey day, for Your Glory. Amen.

Dear chevyontheriver,

Thanks for listening to the words of this post and hearing God's Truth when He speaks to us through His Holy Scripture. Please let us pray for one another and for God's Holy Church: Clergy, Religious and Laity. We have been given much; may we continually seek His Grace to do the Truth we hear from Him. Amen.
