Desperate and terrified

I've been suffering from severe depression on and off since my mum died 4 years ago. I'm trying to come closer to God and read his word more but Satan is attacking me more and more ferociously to try and turn me away from God. I'm also hideously lonely. I work from home and live alone and I only know my dad who is a true Christian and the only other 2 friends I have aren't believers. Im terrified Im going to be left alone when my dad who is 74 dies. I need a Christian bible study group to attend but I keep suffering horrible attacks of depression and terror when I think about joining one. I've also prayed for a devout Christian husband but God hasn't brought a man forward to me yet. Please can you all pray for me because I feel so horribly alone and God feels so far away. Another problem I have is that I'm not very sociable and I have real difficulty trying to make friends. I've never felt so isolated and lonely as I do now x

Yes, I agree, a Christian Bible study group would be very good for you.
Just make sure that the group is attached to a church that you would feel comfortable attending.
Another thing to watch for is that the group is studying the Bible, and not just a social group.

Hi Louise,

Yes, when we are alone, we can become easier targets for the attacks of the enemy.
So to find a good Bible study group could prove to be very helpful to you.

In the meantime, it's nice to see you here at CF, where you can easily log onto the website at your convenience and make connections with other believers that are here fellowshipping online.

Fellowshipping online is not the same as 'in person' fellowship, but it surely can help to make one feel better, to be able to connect with other believers, at least in some small way, when feeling lonely and isolated.

And though it may 'feel' very alone to you ... though you may not always feel that God is near ... please know and remember that He is. He has promised to never leave us or forsake us, He is with us always. In the times when we do not 'feel' it is so, we just need take Him at His Word, and believe.

I do not always 'feel' the presence of God with me, but by faith, I know He is here.
And He is there with you now, also.

I see on your profile that you're from Manchester. I don't know that much about Britain, but isn't Manchester a big city? Are you unable to find a church there? I'm just wondering what's going on

Hello, thanks very much for your concern for me. Me and my dad would attend a Lutheran Church if we could, because we agree with Martin Luther's theology. The trouble is, they're all really liberal in Manchester and they don't teach biblical truth so we can't attend them. My dad has already looked into them. It feels lonely with just the two of us x

Any other kind of church you would consider other than a Lutheran? A Baptist maybe?

I'm friends with lots of different people here on CF, but I probably disagree with each one of them on some point or another.

Thanks very much for all your prayers. I've been physically and mentally exhausted with my mum's death and this pandemic and having to endure severe loneliness from working from home. Please pray that God will also give me greater strength and a larger measure of his Holy Spirit x

In my experience, make a covenant with ones you trust. Big self (sincere League and Union) can comfort Small self. larger the heart is, Stronger the heart is.

Praying for you. If you have not already done so, then create a program for spritual renewal that you can use as or before you start your day off. Get some profesional Christian counsdelling in person or online. aproach God's word as if it is Jesus himself speaking to you through those pages.

Hello, Ms Louise... You are not alone. The account of Jesus feeding the 5,000 is recorded in all 4 Gospels. I guess some of its themes had quite broad appeal.
One thing stands out in my study of this miracle. He had helpers. His blessings were carried to the masses. He did not physically bring a plate of food to every person.
He still uses others to reach out. Please trust Him. Waiting is a difficult thing. Don't set your eyes on what lacks. There's beauty inside of you..Be encouraged to join a Bible study. Don't look at 5,000 hungry people.Set your eyes on the Master who satisfied them all.

To everyone who is praying for me, thank you for your prayers. I'm beginning to feel more hopeful gradually but it will take persistence reading God's word daily. 4 days ago I started praying daily with my dad. We say the Lord's prayer and also Martin Luther's morning and evening prayers depending on the time of day. God hears all our prayers and is delivering me from this evil spirit of sadness that had taken over my life. x

There are online groups that have bible studies. That may be a good starting point and ease your loneliness. Precept Ministries offers them year round.
