It just hit $4/gallon here in Kansas which I realize most around the country would drool for but I never thought I'd see gas so high here. At this time last year I think it was around $2.50/gallon.

Time to start biking or running to work, all 20 miles!!!

More motivation to get an EV. It's really the only way to go for the future. Oil will eventually run out and before it does, it will to too expensive for most people to drive. I just need the prices to come down before I can get one. More EVs on the road will bring competition and drive prices down. Can't wait until they are affordable. I'd love to say goodbye to gasoline.

California has had some serious trouble providing electricity in the past few years, and then there is the Texas electricity debacle that left lots of Texans in the cold. Not sure we as a country have sufficient electric power to be ready for such a switch. Some states sure aren’t ready. I think EVs are great, but expensive, powering them doesn’t work in all parts of the country, and then there’s brownouts.

I spent $127.00 the other day to fill my tank; $4.61 a gallon here in northern Michigan. I have never seen gas this high before, not even under Obama.

It won't happen in our lifetimes, I'm afraid. We simply do not have the infrastructure for it, and EV's currently cannot replace fossil fuels in such things as passenger aircraft and long-haul semis.

Exactly; I'm waiting for the first major traffic jam on a southern California highway in August when it's 110 degrees and batteries start to run down because there's no way to get juice to them. Maybe they'll just abandon them all, walk home, and turn the Ventura Freeway into a used-car lot.

Plenty of electricity where I live. Those other states should catch up with the demand or suffer.

We DID see these prices when GW was in office though. Sounds like you need a smaller car.

For now. The demand on the grid isn't as massive as it will be if huge numbers of people switch to EVs.

Those other states should catch up with the demand or suffer.

And how would you suggest they catch up with the demand? Build more power plants? The Left isn't too keen on building more power plants; it's bad for the environment. Wind, water, and solar can't keep up with demand, nuclear is a danger no matter what you do, and so that leaves burning fossil fuels to produce enough electricity to meet the demand....and if you're gonna do that, you might just as well stick with good old-fashioned gasoline.

Plan ahead and you'll be fine

I have planned ahead. I have plenty of food stockpiled, plenty of fresh water available, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and more than enough weaponry to keep the city folks at bay when they run out of food and come foraging into my rural area.

Sounds like you need a smaller car.

Won't work where I live. I'm on a gravel side road that is infrequently plowed in the winter; at times I may be looking at three feet of snow that I have to drive through to get to a plowed, paved road. I have to have a large SUV with 4-wheel drive.

And no, I am not going to move into a suburb just to save on gas money. My closest neighbors are coyotes, and I like it that way. ;)

Good to know you can kill thousands of people if need be

I guess it sounds like a personal problem. You can move or pay the price. The market doesn't care about your delemna. But I do. I'm sorry you have such a high gas bill I really am. I would like to see lower gas prices but the oil companies are milking us for whatever they can get.

I have often wondered what they do with all of those spent fuel rods and other detritus....all of those plutonium slugs and tubes that are no longer useful as fuel, but are hotter than a nickel-plated revolver and going to remain so for approximately the next 40,000 years. They just sit there in swimming pools, until the water gets so hot that it has to be pumped out and replaced every few months or so.....and they have to keep building new pools, because those spent rods just keep collecting...and collecting....and collecting.....

What do they do with all of that stuff? Does anybody in the name of God know what they're doing with all that stuff???

Good to know you can kill thousands of people if need be

Nah, not thousands. None, hopefully, truth be told. But if the societal situation descends into apocalyptic scenarios, well....Boy Scout motto: "Be Prepared".

I guess it sounds like a personal problem.

That is precisely what it is. :)

You can move or pay the price.

Correct. And I'm not moving, so I will have to pay the price. And I accept that. Everybody has to make their choices.

The market doesn't care about your delemna.

No reason that it should.

But I do.

No, you don't. If you did, you'd be campaigning for old Joe Stalin (whoops---I'm sorry,) Biden to open up all the pipelines and let me burn gasoline. ;)

I'm sorry you have such a high gas bill I really am.

I can send you my address if you'd like to start sending me money to offset those prices.....after all, I don't want to make you feel bad for me. :)

I would like to see lower gas prices but the oil companies are milking us for whatever they can get.

Oh, they're not milking us any worse than the vaudevillian tribe of mentally-challenged circus clowns who are currently pretending to be our government. If we could get all of those morons out of the way and allow the People to have an actual, real election that isn't controlled and manipulated by the D.C. Junta, we might be able to straighten this country out. But that isn't going to happen. They're not about to allow the American People to be governed by the Constitution and have themselves lose their grip on all that cash and power.

State-of-the-art storage facilities until we get the tech to consume the spent radiation.

"Be prepared to kill people" I'll have to change my view of the boy scouts. I thought they liked to help people not kill them.

No, the government doesn't set gas prices, the oil companies do and they will gouge you as long as they can. We got rid of the Junta, now we will get some progressive policies that will help the little guy, not just the corporations I hope.

Riiiiight.

"Be prepared to kill people" I'll have to change my view of the boy scouts. I thought they liked to help people not kill them.

Well, the Boy Scouts went south a long time ago. First they started letting girls be Boy Scouts, then they decided it was a good idea to let predatory homosexual pedophiles be scoutmasters; probably next they'll require transgender sex operations for both girls and boys before they can join. Who knows? I know it sure isn't the same organization that I once belonged to, long, long ago. :(

Uh-huh. The oil companies may be the hairy guy smoking the cigarette in the bed, but the government is the loose floozy with her head on his chest. They go hand-in-hand.

Ah, things become clearer. I discern: dislike for Trump, and a willingness to believe what the State Organs For Propaganda and Disinformation say about him. Also, a belief that socialist policies ("progressive", if you like) will actually work this time, as opposed to the last 900 times it was tried in virtually every country that experimented with it. And lastly, a belief that capitalism is evil and wrong, especially corporations. Check and double-check.

Keep watching that mainstream media. They'll never lie to you. ;)

Keep believing Trump he never lies

Trump is a cypher. He's out of office, and likely never coming back.

However, if you want to know who the real enemies of American liberty are, ask yourself these questions:

1. Who is it that pulls the plug on virtually every form of domestic energy production, thus rendering the United States vulnerable to the whims of foreign energy producers?

2. Who is it that adamantly refuses to secure our borders, thus allowing millions upon millions of illegal aliens to flood into our country every year, where they become a burden on the taxpayers and add to our criminal element?

3. Who is it that routinely ignores our homeless veterans and allows them to freeze or starve on the streets, but never fails to come up with enough money to slaughter innocent infants, both here and abroad?

4. Who is it that works continuously to revoke the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution, thus leaving innocent, law-abiding citizens defenseless, while they do virtually nothing to curb violent gangsters in our streets, and in fact even aid and abet them by allowing drug cartel members over the border as previously mentioned, and even arm them with American weapons, as Obama and Eric Holder did in 2009?

5. Speaking of supplying arms, who is it that botches a withdrawal from a foreign area of operations in order to meet an arbitrary withdrawal date, and rather than removing billions of dollars' worth of state of the art weapons and equipment, simply pulls out and leaves said arms and equipment to a sworn enemy of the United States to use against us and our allies?

6. Who is it that dreams up fictional Russian collusion fantasies and leaks them to a compliant media, thus bringing on a political debacle costing the taxpayers Lord alone only knows how much money, which ended in precisely nothing, because there was never any collusion to begin with; and all of this in an attempt to discredit a sitting president and win an election for the purveyor of the false narrative?

Those are only a few. We could come up with myriads more, if we sat here long enough.

Lord knows, I have little use for Republicans. But they look like sainted angels next to the Democrats, who are so corrupt that they make Al Capone look like Captain Kangaroo. Everything the Democrats do can be counted on to harm America and to enrich themselves and consolidate their grip on power. Their party has drifted so far to the left in the last 40 years that they're rapidly approaching Soviet levels, and they would love nothing better than to institute a police state with them in charge.

Okay, I think we've both established where our personal perimeters are at; we could go back and forth like this forever, but I'm not going to play. I have provided you with solid examples which you don't address; instead you flip out partisan one-liners which requires no analytical thinking and answers nothing. I am not going to convince you of anything, and I can assure you that you won't convince me, so at this juncture, I will disengage and wish you well. Vaya con Dios.

You are correct, I didn't want to go around and around the same logic circle. Instead of just disengaging, I tried to make a joke out of it. Apologies for any offense. God bless

Plenty of electricity where I live. Those other states should catch up with the demand or suffer.
Bloomberg is forecasting grid problems from the Midwest to the West Coast this summer and worsening through 2024. Drought is lessening hydro power in the West, utilities are shutting down coal plants, the wind doesn’t always blow consistently, and power plants sometimes have to go down for scheduled or unscheduled maintenance. A few very hot days could make for a big mess. Would the cars get charged? Would the gas pumps even work?

I'm fortunate that I live in a state that has always had a huge need for energy. I don't know all the ways they obtain energy but there doesn't seem to be a lack of it any time of year. There was a grid problem once when we had a month and a half of record temperatures. Now they put a regulator on all A/C units that will allow the power company to cut your air when the grid is overstressed. I'm sure they have a computer figuring out what to cut where and for how long but it hasn't kicked in on us yet.

I say Nukes all around. Power up the place. The tech we have now makes it very safe.

TO answer your question though yes I think that as long as there is enough power for the home, there's enough for your car. It will hit the electric bill but it's cheaper than gas, especially with a solar suppliment.
