For new Christians who are interested in astronomy and physics. Interesting info. This type of info can be useful in apologetics.

I agree it is an interesting idea but does Hugh ever reconcile the fact that the Bible hard-wires the 7 day week of Gen 2:1-3 to the literal 7 day week of Exodus 20:8-11??

===========================

In Ex 20:8-11 we have legal code - very clear, exact and precise.
9 For six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord your God; on it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male slave or your female slave, or your cattle, or your resident who stays with you. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and everything that is in them, and He rested on the seventh day; for that reason the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

Gen 2:1-3
2 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

And in Gen 1 each day is one single "evening and morning" rather than one eon or one age.

As noted in the OP -- the phrasing above is not how evolution's opposing view is stated in any science text that I know of.

God is going by the light of the first day, we're going by the light of the fourth day. So the basis of comparison for God and man is not congruent.

I like how Lisle concludes about the new earth, " i hope it doesn't take millions of years to make that". Jason lisle continues to defend unavoidable facts about creation from the standpoint of the bible. And unfortunately Hugh ross leans to appeal to secular reasoning.

For some reason he thinks we're still in the 7th day.?

Yeah, that's what I've heard him express before.

His compromise has some holes in it. I for one agree that Gen 1-2 does not limit the entire universe to just 6000 years.

But it does limit life on Earth to that - and our sun and moon to that ... in a literal 7 day week. And it does not argue for evolutionism in the rest of the universe. Rather it implies that God created in other areas just as He created here on Earth.

Dear Wyatt: do NOT ever challenge the Word of God! Atheistic scientists deny deity and our Holy Bible --so who will you choose to believe? I pray you will choose God --before it is too late (note John 3:16; John 14; etc.). One might not be on earth even tomorrow.

For new Christians: There are diverse opinions among Christians. Some Christians are Young Earth Creationists, some are Gap Creationists, some are Theistic Evolutionists. And this has always been the case, even in antiquity there were diverse opinions on how to interpret and read the creation stories in Genesis. Don't let anyone tell you that you have to be a Young Earth Creationist to be a faithful, Bible-believing Christian--they are wrong.

Uh, did you watch the video? One guy defends the book of Genisis as being able to fully trust what God says. The other guy calls himself a Christian but tries to prove millions of years and somewhat evolutionary stance. The book of Genisis wins. Thats why I posted it.

I just thought it was interesting how you can always rely on what God says no matter what man claims he can prove using science. There's a big attack on the book of Genesis these days...
