Was the choice of Mathias as Apostle 12 Kosher?

  1. Acts 13:2
While they were serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set Barnabas and Saul apart for Me for the work to which I have called them.”
  2. Acts 14:23
When they had appointed elders for them in every church, having prayed with fasting, they entrusted them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

If you want to use Acts for doctrine for the Body of Christ, why not also use Acts 16:1-3 in the meantime to push for physical circumcision? =)

Can we then comment on the appropriateness or otherwise of casting lots.

Is this something we should be doing today if you think it is appropriate.

If you think it is inappropriate - is this because it is akin to divination ???
Is it authorized for the church in the NT?

So the question that remains is how do we determine what activities are acceptable - if drawing straws or throwing sticks is OK after prayer - what about pendulums, i Ching, astrology, tea cups, palms, divining rods?

Please define divination.
Has God ever commanded that these be used?
Then they are not authorized by God.

Was Mathias God's choice given that casting lots is a doubtful way to ascertain God's will ?

Was No. 12 actually Paul ???
Paul wasn't number 12, he was the continuation of the sign of Jonas, and in the era of "the twelve" he was like a Joshua assisting in greatly expanding their borders.

Don’t do it.

So what is acceptable and what is not ?? (after prayer)

Fleece on the ground - OK

Casting lots - OK

Position of the Stars - OK

Divining for water - ???

I Ching - ???

Reading Palms - ???

Pendulums - ???

Tarrot cards - you say NO

So what is the rule behind all of this ???

So what advice do you give a believer that prays first and consults tarot cards?
There is nothing occultic about drawing lots. Tarot cards are another matter.
Also, we are not Apostles. It would be better to ask the elders in the Church for their opinion and let them cast lots if necessary.

1 Corinthians 7:19
Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God.

So back to the point, in Romans to Philemon, can you find any instruction or commandment from Paul, regarding fasting?

Once again:

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

A good topic for another thread...

So, likewise, drawing of lots is something only the nation of Israel does.

How do I know that? Paul never instructed us in Romans to Philemon, to draw lots to find God's will for our lives.
