In the USA constitution is the concept in inalienable rights.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness"

The wording is a bit dated and off considering the separation of church and state (mentioning a Creator) is awkward and can only be taken metaphorically.
But essentially the USA Constitution recognises that USA people have some rights that ought to be protected. One would think that privacy, and choice (a.k.a. liberty) fall under this.

Yeah, but the constitution applies to USA citizens. A fertilised egg isn't a USA citizen.

Your quote is from the Declaration of Independence, the US constitution makes no mention of a creator.

I never said support abortion. I said support a pro-choice view. That does also include choosing life. It is the ability to allow others their freedom to make their own decisions. But as you said, you tell other Christians what they should think.

You think murder should be permissible in Yellowstone National Park?
You can rape someone at Yosemite consequence-free?
And of course, military installations are subject to federal, not local or state, jurisdiction -- I predict a lot of officers' wives visiting the doc at Fort Dix...
Those parks are in actual US states, correct?

Well, Missouri seems to think differently, since their proposed law will use Texas-style enforcement to allow anyone to sue a Missouri resident who gets an abortion... even out of state.

Missouri wants to stop out-of-state abortions. Other states could follow.

I was going to edit the poll to include this option, but it's so close to the "Nationwide Texas Plan" that I said never mind...

I would suspect once one state finds a way to outlaw out-of-state abortions, almost all the states that outlaw it will follow. Once they find a way that is not overturned by courts that is.

Yeah, I suspect they'll find a loophole.

Speaking of loopholes...

Emergency abortions are legal in TX, but 'emergencies' are harder to define

According to the article, the Texas law allows abortion in the case of a "medical emergency," and leaves it to the doctor's discretion to determine what constitutes a "medical emergency."

The doctors are nervous that their decisions will be second-guessed by someone willing to cash in on a quick $10,000, but what if they tried a different tactic, and used their discretion for other purposes?

"Ok, miss, you say you have medical concerns about the pregnancy resulting from your rape....what seems to be the problem you're worried about?"

*takes off her shoe*

"Goodness Gracious! An ingrown toenail! We have no way of knowing what kind of complications could occur from this condition! A medical emergency in my professional opinion... here's your Plan B pill..."

Obviously this is an extreme example, but the point is, what happens if Texas doctors decide to flood the system with "medical emergencies"? Pity the poor bureaucrat who has to follow up on them all.
