'A racist and anti-Semitic manifesto and a Twitch livestream were attributed online to the gunman, but authorities have not verified those accounts.'

The manifesto contains a Q and A, including the question, “Why did you target those people?” The answer: “They are an obvious, visible, and large group of replacers. From a culture with higher fertility rates and strong, robust traditions that seek to occupy my peoples lands and ethnically replace my own people. It would have eased me if I knew all the blacks I would be killing were criminals or future criminals, but then I realized all black people are replacers just by existing in White countries.”

----

Linkable story

Saturday’s attack was live-streamed on Twitch and screenshots from the recording showed horrific scenes, including a woman who is shot in the head as she walks outside the store. In other screenshots, victims can be seen on the floor of the supermarket.

A 106-page online manifesto, believed to have been uploaded by the shooter, explained that he was motivated by a conspiracy theory that white people are being replaced by other races. In the document, he says he is 18 years old and a self-described white supremacist and anti-semite.

----

see also El Paso Walmart 2019.

The threat of the "great replacement," or the idea that white people will be replaced by people of color, was cited directly in the four-page screed written by the man arrested in the killing of 22 people in El Paso over the weekend.

Paranoid nutcase with a lethal weapon.

You're not officially a nutcase if your delusion is widely shared.

On Wednesday night, [Tucker Carlson] declared that the Biden administration is intentionally trying “to change the racial mix of the country” through immigration.

“In political terms, this policy is called ‘the great replacement,’ the replacement of legacy Americans with more obedient people from far-away countries,” Carlson exclaimed. “They brag about it all the time, but if you dare to say it's happening they will scream at you with maximum hysteria.”

The so-called “Great Replacement” theory is a white-supremacist belief in a conspiracy among liberals and wealthy elites to demographically and culturally replace the white population of majority-white countries with immigrants of non-European descent. In recent years, the theory has served as the inspiration for racist mass killings in El Paso, Pittsburgh and Christchurch, New Zealand.

Yet, despite its overtly racist and antisemitic roots, the conspiracy theory—thanks in large part to Carlson’s embrace of it—has become more acceptable and normalized within the Republican Party, with numerous GOP lawmakers and officials openly citing it.

Allegedly from the alleged manifesto

Was there a particular event or reason you decided to commit to a violent attack?
Before I begin I will say that I was not born racist nor grew up to be racist. I simply
became racist after I learned the truth.
...
That person was Brenton Tarrant, and after some searches I found the 17 minute
livestream of him attacking the Al-Noor mosque. I eventually found his manifesto and I read it,
and I found that I mostly agreed with him.
...
I then found other fighters, like Patrick Crucius, Anders Breivek [sic], Dylann Roof, and John Earnest.
These men fought for me and had the same goals I did. It was there I asked myself:
Why don't I do something?

Let's just put these two comments back to back:

“In political terms, this policy is called ‘the great replacement,’ the replacement of legacy Americans with more obedient people from far-away countries,” Carlson exclaimed. “They brag about it all the time, but if you dare to say it's happening they will scream at you with maximum hysteria.”

'“They are an obvious, visible, and large group of replacers."

And what is a legacy American?

And what is a legacy American?

The group that wiped out the original Americans. Whether this is all "white people" in the US or just the British-descended ones and not the later Irish, German, Scandanavian, Jewish, Polish, Italian, Czech, Greek, etc. other non-British, "White" Americans.

That's a pretty direct path.

So many hate crimes have taken place, look at New York City and San Francisco, Asians are being targeted. We have to reverse the course of the last year and strive for a colorless society. Start with the children--no more CRT.
Nothing in this even comes close to addressing the OP.

He would have done better to join the military and deploy to Yemen. At least he would have been rewarded for doing what he did.

What he did was kill innocent people. I don't think they pin a medal on you for doing that.

And what is a legacy American?

I'm guessing by that, they mean "White Conservative Christian" (or someone who's willing to kowtow to what White conservative Christians want).

This topic gets extremely messy in the US.

US is a unique country in that it's a nation founded on a set of ideas rather than on some sort of ethnic or racial identity. For instance, one can "become an American", I could move to Japan, live there for 20 years, and nobody would consider me to be Japanese.

Incidental overlap obfuscates the situation. Some Americans see people from other countries coming here (with different sets of values), and fail to make the distinction between the values themselves vs. the immutable characteristics the people happen to have, and start to treat them interchangeably or attribute one to the other.

That's one aspect that other countries (even ones that are far more progressive than the US) have understood is that without some sort of common social fabric or shared set of ideas, it's going to be a rough road. Which is why a lot of the more progressive countries have far stricter immigration requirements than we have.

The rub is that those countries don't have any sort of claim to being a "melting pot" or a "place where anyone can come and live how they see fit"...that still is our "claim to fame" so to speak. If we implemented the type of strict immigration requirements that places like France, Finland, Sweden, or Japan have, a lot of people would be opposed to that and say "that goes against what this country was founded on!" (and they'd be right)

It's tough to balance the "open door"/"anyone can come and be a part of this" mentality with the type of social cohesion a nation needs in order to function with minimal conflict.

CRT causes white supremacy? That’s a twist.

Could have done well in the elite Russian infantry, I suppose. But then he couldn’t help the vanishing White race.
