Baby Formula located--much is being sent to illegal immigrants at the border

Democrats in control could have gone to other countries for supplies, the problem did not just pop up today...

Quite a reasonable point. Albeit cans are currently being imported from Ireland:

'Abbott said on Friday it has shipped millions of cans of infant formula powder into the United States from its Ireland facility, particularly to serve consumers who use the WIC program for low-income families.' Biden says baby formula shortage to ease in weeks as U.S. imports more

Maybe everyone could concentrate on the supply problems instead of people trying to make policial mileage from the legal requirement to give (literally) a few cans of formula to babies on the border.

If they're American, then yes. If they're being brought over illegally through biden's open border, then no.
I hope that answers your question.
Pro Life is for American babies only?

Where are they from? Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, etc.? They can get their baby formula from their own country.
Inconsistent with a Pro Life worldview. Would Jesus distribute formula by nation of origin?

From your linked article:
"the administration scrambled to reverse a shortfall that hits lower-income Americans particularly hard."

and

"The Biden administration this week has come under increasing pressure to address the problem, which has roots in a February recall of some formulas by one of the nation’s main manufacturers, Abbott Laboratories."

The Biden people need to be "pro-active." Instead they are "reactive" after a problem they created has spiraled out of control and enough people complain.

I agree. They dropped the ball on this one. If there's a shortage of Cheetos or bluberries then I think we can see it through. But formula is important. As soon as the factory in Michigan was closed down then an alarm bell should have rung somewhere and immediate steps should have been taken to increase supply from existing factories or make arrangements to import the stuff.

Now...isn't that a better discussion? Arguments made simply as a means to criticise the current admin will only polarise opinion. And if the claim being made doesn't even stand up (as this one does not) then the argument is always going to be lost. So Cammack and all the Republicans who jumped on the bandwagon have actually diverted attention away from the lack of formula and onto a nonsensical diatribe about illegal immigrant babies seemingly being more important to Biden than good ol' American ones.

Look, any administration has problems. Every single administration has something that they could do better. And this one is no different. Hopefully (for all of us), the mistakes will be relatively minor and easily fixed. But there'll be enough genuine ones to occupy any given Republican 24/7. But picking a nonsensical so-called scandal such as this to highlight tends to make any impartial observer think 'Is that all they're worried about?'

It makes Cammack look desperate for anything to criticise.

Formula is far less important than people in the US think.

There are women who need it to feed their children because they don't produce enough breast milk, but their percentage is far lower than the number of mothers in the US who buy it.

As in many cases, the reason for this huge amount of formula needed is aggressive marketing and falsified health studies, which easily dupes parents worried for the health of their children. That is where the US government should have gotten involved many years ago. But instead, you got stuff like this:

Just a heads up, but regardless of the reason why a woman isn't breastfeeding, once they aren't anymore and their milk dries up, any disruption in the supply of formula becomes an emergency situation.

While some women have successfully achieved relactation, the process is time consuming and can take weeks to accomplish.

When you're looking at the supply of formula for an entire nation, it's a national emergency to run out, or even low, for any amount of time.

Sure, this needs to be adressed now, but the american public also needs to be informed about the way they are getting fleeced by the industry in the mid term.

Sadly, breast milk has no lobbyists, so I doubt anything will happen.

I agree that the best option - by far, is breast feeding. But as @Hazelelponi says, it is what it is.

I don't know. The amount of new mothers "needing" formula is probably about as high as the amount of mothers actually needing formula when arriving at the border, if not higher. Judging by this thread, that's a significant amount.

I realize we're getting border crossers at the Mexican border from nearly every country on Earth, including Russia, Afghanistan, Iran, and any other country that is hostile to us. It's an indication that everyone in the world knows that if you want to illegally enter America, the Mexican border is the place to do it.
Too bad our own federal government hasn't realized it yet.
Weird the govrenment is using baby formula on babies they don't know exist.

Something in this narrative isn't adding up.

All of it doesn't add up. What is being supplied to evil aliens at the border is not the baby formula that is in short supply, but a product called Nido, which is a milk substitute for older children,

One result of pretending the border is secure while in reality there is a massive surge of illegals, and more to come, is that supplies like baby formula are being diverted to the border. Likewise there are reports of doctors from the veterans administration to be sent to the border. I personally think that American moms should have at least the same access to baby formula as do those illegal moms at the border. What do you think? Combined with all of the other problems of this administration what is our future?

Only American babies matter, why am I not surprised.
Not true at all. We have an administration creating more and more problems without preparation to deal with the consequences. In nine days, if Title 42 is allowed to lapse, we will have the largest humanitarian crisis that this country has ever seen. There is not enough baby formula, not enough doctors, and not enough medical supplies to deal with it. Those in power are concerned about Peleton memberships, and their constituencies are far too passive--after all, it is their own political party in charge. More deaths and more disaster will follow.

And a plague of frogs to follow. Better stock up on MRE’s.
Try getting some actual balance here. Remember the topic of Title 42 is being addressed elsewhere.

Just a heads up, but most pediatricians recommend breastfeeding if possible. My stepsons wife has breast fed all three of their children, and the youngest is only two so we are talking about a young modern mom.

The reasons that many women don't breastfeed usually has to do with having to go back to work after having a baby, and the convenience bottle feeding provides for working moms.

The economy is what it is and most households now require two incomes. It's not because breastfeeding isn't well understood as being good for babies.

Shaming young women for their choices isn't good, as each woman is doing her very best.

I'm not shaming women, I'm shaming the formula industry aggressively marketing towards women. This isn't about individual choice, it's about a multi-billion dollar industry putting their profits over health and expedience.
More than half of parents and pregnant women exposed to aggressive formula milk marketing
