You seem to always say that you have problems understanding posts shared with you that a full of scripture that might be in disagreement with you while pretending I am saying things I have not said (if your saying this and that arguments building strawmans of things I have never said). Perhaps you should pray about it.
Not always. Sometimes I understand what you're saying. I don't disagree with any of the scriptures that you post.

I don't pretend that's what you are saying, that's why I prefaced it with *if*.

It's a good idea to always pray about all of these things!

I prefer what the scriptures teach. The scriptures do not say that gentiles know Gods law without Gods' law and by not knowing God's law if you referring to Romans 2:14. As posted earlier you need to consider the scripture context of Romans 2:14 written in Romans 2:12 that says as many has have sinned without the law shall perish without the law and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law. For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. So Romans 2:14 does not delete the context of Romans 2:12-13. Romans 2:14 is contrasting the law written on the heart using a gentile as an example to a Jew who teaches the law but breaks it *see Romans 2:14-19. Paul in Romans 2 to Romans 3:9-20 is showing both Jews and Gentiles are all sinners and have broken Gods' law therefore in need of God's grace of forgiveness that we receive through faith. I do not think your considering that the context of Romans 2:14 does not support your interpretation of it.
The scriptures are great! It's true that gentiles who do not have the written law don't know the details of that written law. But they can still sometimes do some of the things in that law.

As posted earlier there is no scripture. Not a single scripture that says Gods 10 commandments ended at the cross. This is a false teaching of lawlessness (without law) that sadly many are caught up in that is not biblical and against God and His Word that is leading many away from God and His Word to break the commandments of God leading many into sin.

According to the scriptures those who continue in known unrepentant sin will not enter into the kingdom of God according to Hebrews 10:26-31. As posted earlier it is not about following the letter of the law it is about believing the letter of the Word. This leads us to the Spirit of the Word as shown in John 6:63 that we receive through faith *Romans 10:17 as we believe what Gods' Word says *John 3:36. We receive the letter of God's Word by reading the bible or hearing it (Romans 10:17).

We receive the Spirit of the Word of God by believing what Gods' Word says. Therefore if you do not know the letter of God's Word through the spoken or written Word of God then how can you have faith in God's Word according to Romans 10:17 and James 2:16-26 when it is the letter we are to have faith in before we receive God's Spirit? Obedience to God's Word is the fruit of genuine faith according to the scriptures. *see also Matthew 7:21; John 10:26-27; Hebrews 11. God's Word we receive by the spoken or written Word without faith are the letter but with faith become the Spirit and are not separate from each other.

The letter of God's Word leads us to faith *Romans 10:17 so that we can receive the Spirit of Gods' Word *John 6:63. So your argument about the letter without faith and the Spirit it leads to in not relevant.

Take Care
Starting with this part:
As posted earlier it is not about following the letter of the law it is about believing the letter of the Word.
Will a person who believes the letter of the word follow the letter of the law, in your view?

Brother, happy Sabbath! No, we keep the law like Jesus,...
It is misleading / incomplete to say Jesus kept the Law. Yes, in many instances, He did keep the Law. But, in others, He clearly challenged / violated it:

- He refused to stone a woman caught in adultery;
- He encouraged violation of the prohibition of work on the Sabbath
- He overturned the kosher food laws.

No doubt, we will hear objections to these claims. Fine, we can discuss.

Jesus knows that God's redemptive plan is about to reach its climactic moment at the cross. This explains why Jesus promoted obedience to the Law while at the same time signalling its imminent retirement.

Starting with this part:
Will a person who believes the letter of the word follow the letter of the law, in your view?
Let me ask you some simple questions and provide you with the scriptures that answers these questions, so you can see your questions answered through the scriptures. If you love your neighbor as your self, will you kill them (answered in Romans 13:8-10)? If we have faith in God's Word will we obey God's law or disobey God's law (answered in Romans 3:31)? I provided the questions so you can see them answered for yourself in the scriptures so they are answered with Gods' Word not my words. The letter of God's written or spoken Words are powerless without faith in those who read them. The letter of God's Word leads us to the Spirit of God's Word as we have faith in it *see John 6:63; John 17:17; John 8:31-34. This is what it means to abide in Christ *see John 15:7 also John 15:1-7. Without Jesus and faith in His Word we can do nothing but we can do all things as he strengthens us and works in us *see Philippians 2:13 and Philippians 4:13. The answer to you question therefore is that the person who believes in the letter of Gods' Word will obey God's Word because they walk in God's spirit through faith in what God's Word says *Romans 10:17; 1 John 5:2-4; 1 John 3:4-9; Revelation 12:17. Doing this they no longer follow the letter of the law but are born into the Spirit of the law through faith in Gods' Word. This is God's new covenant promise in all those who believe what Gods' Word says *see John 3:36; Hebrews 8:10-12 from Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Ezekiel 36:24-27. There is no scripture dear friend, anywhere in the bible that teaches God's 10 commandments ended at the cross. This teaching is unbiblical and has no basis in scripture and pretty much disagrees with the whole bible.

Yes please, ask all the questions you want. However, my question ended with "in your view". So while I can read all the scriptures that you post, it may not tell me what your view of them is.

If you love your neighbor, you won't kill them, generally speaking.

If we have faith in God's word we will obey the principles of God's law.

If you don't want to talk about the letter of the law, that's fine. If you would like to just agree that we are to keep the principles of all of the laws, that would be great!

################
Edit: I see that you made extensive revisions to your post. But I had already hit reply and was in the process of writing my response, so I'm leaving your original message up since that's what I was responding to.

I gave you answers to your questions directly from scripture and if you read the rest of my post you will see I also gave you my view supported by scripture so I guess I did not leave you much wiggle room this time to claim I did not answer your question directly. Now what is it you do not believe in the post you are quoting from but did not address but simply chose to ignore?

(as of the time of this writing)
that you say that those who walk in God's spirit no longer follow the letter of the law.

That's close enough for me, it looks like we agree!

(Unless of course that's not what you meant, in which case feel free to add more details.)

The early church. Can you imagine the confusion. Jews coming to believe in Christ. Gentiles wanting to believe in Christ and worshipping with Jews who converted, and finally more and more gentiles on their own. Obviously Jewish law and customs are at first on the table. Christianity started as a Jewish sect. At what point did Christianity differentiate from Judaism? Tensions rise. Need to differentiate. How did this happen? What is involved in their separation? It doesn't happen all at once. It does not happen in the same way in different places, nor does it happen at the same time. But Jewish laws becoem less an issue for gentile Christians. By the 4th century John Chrysostom, complains in a series of eight sermons to his congregation, that "you must stop going to the Synagogue, you must not think that the Synagogue is a holier place than our churches are."

The New Testaments is a product of the very early church. Can we accept the possibility that The Holy Spirit continued to guide the Church beyond the 1st century? Assisting it to adapt to the entire world beyond Jewish Torah and customs? I think we must unless we want to be stuck as a Pharisee.

I think Expo is on the right track with an evolving salvation narrative, If I understand him/her correctly. Such a view gives more respect to the Holy Spirit as a living dynamic influence in the life of God's people. Simply quoting the New Testament is not enough. On going discernment is required. And a fuller appreciation of the Tanakh as a literary masterpiece filled with figurative presentations of reality bring us closer to the inspiration of the living Spirit.

Luke 18
9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Hi Akita Suggagaki,

Lots of good points there!

The early church was definitely in transition, arguably the church never stops being in transition. The four rules arrived at in Acts 15 (if one sees sexual immorality as Temple prostitution) are a baseline for how Jews and gentiles can get along.

And I agree that the Bible is an evolving narrative. Protestants tend to see it as stopping there. Catholics/Orthodox, I believe, see the evolution as continuing at least to the end of this age. I'm undecided myself.

the end of this age.
Whatever that may mean.

I think also that interpreting the creation account as a figurative work rather than a literal account helps us to understand its function in community cohesion and identity. I think that goes for the Sinai account of the Ten Commandments as well.

Well that depends of course if what you mean by not following the letter of God's law means that we are now free to break God's law. The Spirit of the law is obeying what Gods' law says from the heart through faith in believing what God's Word says, which is God's new covenant promise given to all those who believe God's Word and have been born in His Spirit to love *see Hebrews 8:10-12 from Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Ezekiel 36:24-27; 1 John 3:4-9; 1 John 5:2-3; 1 John 2:3-4.

I think it’s important to note that God separated His laws from the very beginning. Many want to lump all laws and commandments as one, when God did not. This is an important distinction because once we get to the New Testament we see what exactly ended when Christ became our sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins we won’t make the mistake of claiming “all laws” ended, when they did not.

When we get to the New Covenant God writes His laws in our hearts and mind- so they didn’t end in the New Covenant. Jeremiah 31:33 Hebrews 8:10-12

I hope and pray for those seeking to do the will of God if you are going to write out obeying God’s commandments you would have clear scripture stating so, if one is seeking to do the will of God and not our own.

I have yet to see one verse that says when Jesus died all laws have ended at the cross which some teach.

This is what ended from scriptures:

Col 2: 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

The gentile's gospel:

Colossians 2:14-16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]:

2 Corinthians 3:7 But if the ministration of death, written [and] engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which [glory] was to be done away:

From the bible...

GOD'S TEN COMMANDMENTS REPEATED IN THE NEW TESTAMENT
  • 1 You shall have no other gods before Me.
It is written: You shall worship the Lord your God and Him only you shall serve. (Luke 4:8; Matthew 4:10; Revelation 14:7)

2 You must not make for yourself a carved image, a likeness of anything in heaven, on earth, or under the sea.
God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:24; Acts 15:20; 1 Corinthians 6:9; Ephesians 5:5; 1 Peter 4:3; 1 John 5:21; Revelation 2:14)

3 You shall not take the Name of the Lord your God in vain.
    (1 Timothy 6:1, James 2:7)

    4 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. – Binding on all Christians today -Hebrews 4:9 The Sabbath [seventh day] was made for man, not man for the Sabbath, so the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath. (Mark 2:27-28, Hebrews 4; Matthew 12:8; Matthew 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56; Matthew 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56; John 2:6; Matthew 16:24; 1; (After the death of Jesus) Matthew 24:20; Matthew 28:1; Acts 13:14; 13:27; 13:44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4; Hebrews 4:1-5; 9-11; Revelations 1:10 (see Matthew 12:8)

5 Honor your father and mother.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. (Ephesians 6:1; Colossians 3:20; Matthew 15:4; Matthew 19:19)

    6 You shall not murder.
I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:44-45; Matt. 5:21-26; Romans 13:9; 1 Timothy 1:9; 1 John 3:15; James 2:11; Matthew 19:18)

7 You shall not commit adultery.
I say to you whoever even looks at another in lust has already committed adultery in their heart. (Matthew 5:28, 1 Cor. 5:11, 1 Cor. 6:18, Galatians 5:19, Hebrews 13:4, James 2:11, Matthew 19:19, Romans 13:9)

    8 You shall not steal.
Neither thieves, the greedy, or drunkards and robbers will inherit the Kingdom. (1 Corinthians 6:10, Romans 2:21, Mark 7:21, Ephesians 4:28, Romans 13:9, Matthew 19:18)

9 You shall not bear false witness.
For by your words, you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned. (Matthew 15:19, Ephesians 4:25, Col. 3:9; Matthew 19:18, Romans 13:9)

10 You shall not covet your neighbors possessions.
Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist of the things he possesses. (Luke 12:15, Romans 7:7, Ephesians 5:3, 1 Timothy 6:10, Hebrews 13:5, Romans 13:9).
..............

God's Word does not teach lawlessness. According to James we break anyone of them we stand guilty before God of sin.

Take Care now.

Colossians 2:14-16

THE MEANING OF COLOSSIANS 2:16

As to Colossians 2:16? Yes many take this scripture out of context to the rest of the bible to try and teach that Gods' 4th commandment is a "shadow law" pointing to Christ. However, this teaching is not biblical. I have spent a lot of time prayerfully asking God and studying this topic for myself and I am happy to prove Colossians 2:16 is not a reference to Gods' 4th commandment by Gods' grace through His Word if you are interested.

The scriptures say
  • Colossians 2:16 [16], Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day (Feast day), or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days (plural): [17], Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. [KJV]
If you prayerfully look at this topic in detail and not surface read the scripture and separate it from context like many do, you will find Colossians 2:16 is not a reference to Gods' 4th commandment of the 10 commandments but is a reference to the ceremonial "sabbaths" plural in the annual Feast days connected to the meat and drink offerings and animal sacrifices that are shadow of things to come pointing to Jesus.

Paul here is actually quoting old testament scriptures in regards to the annual Feast days and ceremonial laws and sabbaths that were connected to these Feast days. I will show you examples of these shortly but let me ask, did you know that there was many different kinds of sabbaths (plural) in the Old Testament?

For example the annual Feast days included annual ceremonial sabbaths (plural) that unlike Gods' 4th commandment that is every "seventh day" *Exodus 20:10 on a continuous weekly cycle, the annual sabbaths in the Feast days could fall on any day of the week depending on the yearly cycle and were connected directly to the meat and drink offerings and animal sacrifices and sin offerings pointing to Jesus. All these shadow laws of remission of sins including the meat and drink offerings the new moons and the annual sabbaths (plural) in he annual Feast days for example included;
It is all these sabbaths (plural) that were connected to the old covenant earthly Sanctuary that were all shadows of things to come pointing to Jesus as the promised Messiah and Savoir of the world.

It is impossible that Colossians 2:16 to be talking about Gods' 4th commandment for God's 4th commandment has never pointed forward to things to come but points backwards to the finished work of creation *see Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11. Gods' 4th commandment was also made before sin and before law when mankind was sinless and there was no need for a gospel pointing to Jesus because there was no sin when God made the Sabbath for all mankind (see Mark 2:27; Genesis 2:1-3) only Adam and Eve created. Gods' 4th commandment points backwards to the finished work of creation (Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11) not forward to things to come so cannot be a "shadow law" of anything.

Paul in Colossians 2:16 is actually quoting old testament scriptures..
  • Colossians 2:16 [16], Let no man therefore judge you in (1) meat, or in drink, or in respect of an (2) holy day (Feast day), or of the (3) new moon, or of the (4) sabbath days (plural): [17], Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. [KJV]
from..
  • Ezekiel 45:17-21, It shall be the prince’s duty to furnish the burnt offerings, (1) meat offering and drink offerings, at the (2) feasts, the (3) new moons, and the (4) sabbaths, at all the appointed (5) feasts of the house of israel: He shall provide the sin offerings, grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings, to make atonement on behalf of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel. Thus says the Lord God; in the first month, in the first day of the month, thou shalt take a young bullock without blemish, and cleanse the sanctuary: and the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering, and put it upon the posts of the house, and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar, and upon the posts of the gate of the inner court. and so thou shalt do the seventh day of the month for every one that erred, and for him that is simple: so shall ye reconcile the house. in the first month, in the fourteenth day of the month, ye shall have the passover, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread shall be eaten.
  • 1 Chronicles 23:31 and whenever (1) burnt offerings were presented to the LORD on the (4) sabbaths, at the (3) New Moon (2) feasts and at the appointed festivals. They were to serve before the LORD regularly in the proper number and in the way prescribed for them.
  • 2 Chronicles 2:4 [4] Now I am about to build a temple for the Name of the LORD my God and to dedicate it to him for burning fragrant incense before him, for setting out the consecrated bread regularly, and for making (1) burnt offerings every morning and evening and on the (4) sabbaths, at the (3) New Moons and at the appointed (2) festivals of the LORD our God. This is a lasting ordinance for Israel.
  • Numbers 28:8-10 [9] And on the Sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a MEAT OFFERING, mingled with oil, and the DRINK OFFERING thereof: [10] This is the burnt offering of EVERY SABBATH, beside the continual BURN'T OFFERING, and his DRINK OFFERING.
  • Isaiah 1:10-14 [10] Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.[11] To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I AM FULL OF THE BURNT OFFERINGS of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.[12] When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?[13] BRING NO MORE VAIN OBLATIONS; incense is an abomination unto me; THE NEW MOONS AND SABBATHS, THE CALLING OF ASSEMBLIES, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.[14] Your new moons and your APPOINTED FEASTS my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.
  • Hosea 2:11 [11], I will stop her celebrations: her (2) yearly festivals, her (3) New Moons, her (4) sabbaths and all her (2) appointed festivals.
KEY POINTS TAKEN FROM THE SCRIPTURE
So what you can see here is that Paul is directly quoting old testament scriptures from Colossians 2:16 that are referring to the annual ceremonial sabbaths connected to the Old testament Sanctuary and meat and drink offerings and animal sacrifices and old covenant laws for remission of sins linked to the annual Feast days not Gods' 4th commandment which was Paul's custom in keeping according to the scriptures (Acts of the Apostles 17:2).

Application to other new covenant scriptures
  • Hebrews 9:1; 9-12 [1] Then verily THE FIRST COVENANT HAD ALSO ORDINANCES of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.... [9] WHICH WAS A FIGURE for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;[10] WHICH STOOD ONLY IN MEATS AND DRINKS, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.[12] NEITHER BY THE BLOOD OF GOATS AND CALVES, BUT BY HIS OWN BLOOD he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
  • HEBREWS 10:1-9
[1], FOR THE LAW HAVING A SHADOW OF GOOD THINGS TO COME, AND NOT THE VERY IMAGE OF THE THINGS, CAN NEVER WITH THOSE SACRIFICES which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
[2], For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
[3], But in those SACRIFICES there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
[4], For it is not possible that THE BLOOD OF BULLS AND GOATS should take away sins.
[5], Why when he comes into the world, he said, SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS YOU WOULD NOT BUT A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME:
[6], IN BURN'T OFFERINGS AND SACRIFICES FOR SIN YOU HAVE HAD NO PLEASURE.
[7], Then said I, See, I come in the VOLUME OF THE BOOK IT IS WRITTEN OF ME, to do your will, O God.
    [8], Above when he said, SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS AND BURNT OFFERINGS AND OFFERINGS FOR SIN YOU WOULD NOT, neither had pleasure therein; WHICH ARE OFFERED BY THE LAW;
[9], Then said he, See, I come to do your will, O God. He takes away the first, that he may establish the second.
All the above new covenant scriptures link in with Colossians 2:16, the meat and drink offerings, and the sabbaths in the annual Feast days and the earthly Sanctuary and its laws for remission of sins. Colossians 2:16 is not telling us that Gods' 4th commandment is abolished.

SUNDAY KEEPING COMMENTARIES ON COLOSSIANS 2:16

I am not one for commentaries but for what it is worth these Sunday keeping scholars are all in agreement here in regards to Colossians 2:16 and what has been shared with you here.

Albert Barnes Notes on the Bible

“... Or of the Sabbath days - Greek, “of the Sabbaths.” The word Sabbath in the Old Testament is applied not only to the seventh day, but to all the days of holy rest that were observed by the Hebrews, and particularly to the beginning and close of their great festivals. There is, doubtless, reference to those days in this place, since the word is used in the plural number, and the apostle does not refer particularly to the Sabbath properly so called. There is no evidence from this passage that he would teach that there was no obligation to observe any holy time, for there is not the slightest reason to believe that he meant to teach that one of the ten commandments had ceased to be binding on mankind. If he had used the word in the singular number - “the Sabbath,” it would then, of course, have been clear that he meant to teach that that commandment had ceased to be binding, and that a Sabbath was no longer to be observed. But the use of the term in the plural number, and the connection, show that he had his eye on the great number of days which were observed by the Hebrews as festivals, as a part of their ceremonial and typical law, and not to the moral law, or the Ten Commandments. No part of the moral law - no one of the ten commandments could be spoken of as “a shadow of good things to come.” These commandments are, from the nature of moral law, of perpetual and universal obligation. ...” - Albert Barnes, Colossians 2:16 Commentary. E-Sword App.

Adam Clarke, states on the same passage:

There is no intimation here that the Sabbath was done away, or that its moral use was superseded, by the introduction of Christianity. I have shown elsewhere that, Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, is a command of perpetual obligation, and can never be superseded but by the final termination of time. ...” - Adam Clarke, Colossians 2:16 Commentary. E-Sword App.

Jamieson, Fausset and Brown Commentary states:
“... the sabbath — Omit “THE,” which is not in the Greek (compare Note, see on Gal_4:10). “SABBATHS” (not “the sabbaths”) of the day of atonement and feast of tabernacles have come to an end with the Jewish services to which they belonged (Lev_23:32, Lev_23:37-39). The weekly sabbath rests on a more permanent foundation, having been instituted in Paradise to commemorate the completion of creation in six days. Lev_23:38 expressly distinguished “the sabbath of the Lord” from the other sabbaths. A positive precept is right because it is commanded, and ceases to be obligatory when abrogated; a moral precept is commanded eternally, because it is eternally right. If we could keep a perpetual sabbath, as we shall hereafter, the positive precept of the sabbath, one in each week, would not be needed. Heb_4:9, “rests,” Greek, “keeping of sabbath” (Isa_66:23). But we cannot, since even Adam, in innocence, needed one amidst his earthly employments; therefore the sabbath is still needed and is therefore still linked with the other nine commandments, as obligatory in the spirit, though the letter of the law has been superseded by that higher spirit of love which is the essence of law and Gospel alike (Rom_13:8-10). ...” - Jamieson, Fausset and Brown, Colossians 2:16 Commentary.

2 Corinthians 3:7 But if the ministration of death, written [and] engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which [glory] was to be done away:

WHAT DOES 1 CORINTHIANS 3 MEAN?

Lets look at the scriptures and add the context back in...

2 Corinthians 3:3-18
[3], For as much as YOU ARE MANIFESTLY DECLARED TO BE THE LETTER OF CHRIST MINISTERED BY US, WRITTEN NOT WITH INK, BUT WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD; NOT IN TABLES OF STONE, BUT IN FLESHY TABLES OF THE HEART.
[4], And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
[5], Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
[6], WHO ALSO HAS MADE US ABLE MINISTERS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT; NOT OF THE LETTER, BUT OF THE SPIRIT: FOR THE LETTER KILLS, BUT THE SPIRIT GIVES LIFE.
[7], BUT IF THE MINISTRATION OF DEATH, WRITTEN AND ENGRAVED IN STONES, WAS GLORIOUS, SO THAT THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL COULD NOT STEADFASTLY BEHOLD THE FACE OF MOSES FOR THE GLORY OF HIS COUNTENANCE; WHICH GLORY WAS TO BE DONE AWAY:
[8], HOW SHALL NOT THE MINISTRATION OF THE SPIRIT BE RATHER GLORIOUS?
[9], FOR IF THE MINISTRATION OF CONDEMNATION be glory, much more does the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
[10], For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excels.
[11], FOR IF THAT WHICH IS DONE AWAY WAS GLORIOUS, MUCH MORE THAT WHICH REMAINS IS GLORIOUS.
[12], Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
[13], AND NOT AS MOSES, WHICH PUT A VEIL OVER HIS FACE, THAT THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL COULD NOT STEADFASTLY LOOK TO THE END OF THAT WHICH IS ABOLISHED:
[14], BUT THEIR MINDS WERE BLINDED: FOR UNTIL THIS DAY REMAINS THE SAME VEIL NOT TAKEN AWAY IN THE READING OF THE OLD TESTAMENT; WHICH VEIL IS DONE AWAY IN CHRIST.
[15], But even to this day, when Moses is read, the veil is on their heart.
[16], NEVERTHELESS WHEN IT SHALL TURN TO THE LORD, THE VEIL SHALL BE TAKEN AWAY.
[17], Now THE LORD IS THAT SPIRIT: AND WHERE THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS, THERE IS LIBERTY.
[18], But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the LORD.

Taken from the scriptures above...
  • God's new covenant promise of God's Spirit and His law written on the heart - 2 Corinthians 3:3; see Hebrews 8:10-12 from Jeremiah 31:31-34; Ezekiel 36:24-27.
  • Ministers of the new covenant (see Hebrews 8:10-12 from Jeremiah 31:31-34; Ezekiel 36:24-27) not of the letter but of the Spirit written in the heart *2 Corinthians 3:6.
  • The ministration of death is done away (not God's 10 commandments) by the ministration of the Spirit - 2 Corinthians 3:7-8
  • The ministration of condemnation is now exceeded by the ministration of righteousness (right doing Gods law written in the heart to love) - 2 Corinthians 3:9.
  • The ministration of condemnation and death is done away through the ministration of the Spirit and God's forgiveness of sins through Christ which is that Spirit *2 Corinthians 3:11-17
.....................

SUMMARY: 2 Corinthians 3:3-18 show that it is the ministration of condemnation and death by the letter that is done away by the ministration of the Spirit through God's mercy, grace and forgiveness through faith that works by love in fulfillment of Gods' new covenant promise (Hebrews 8:10-12; from Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Ezekiel 36:24-27) that is done away not God's 10 commandments. All God's 10 commandments do under the new covenant is to give us the knowledge of good (moral right doing) and evil (moral wrong doing); sin (moral wrong doing) and righteousness (moral right doing) *Romans 3:20: Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4; Psalms 119:172.

An interpretation that 2 Corinthians 3 is talking about abolishing Gods' 10 commandments has Paul in contradiction to Paul when he says in Romans 3:31 that faith does not abolish Gods' law it establishes God's law and again in Romans 13:8-10 where Paul says we love our neighbor as our self by being obedient to those laws in God's 10 commandments that show us our duty of love to our fellow man.

Indeed the ministration of the Spirit is greater the than the ministration of the letter because while the letter brings death and condemnation while the Spirit brings life and forgiveness through Christ and writes the law on the heart through faith that works by love which is Gods' new covenant promise in all those who have been born again to believe and follow God's Word and walk in newness of life *John 3:3-7; 1 John 3:4-9; Hebrews 8:10-12 from Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Ezekiel 36:24-27; Romans 6:1-23. It is not therefore God’s 10 commandments that have become obsolete it is the ministration of condemnation and death through the ministration of God’s forgiveness and His sacrifice for our sins.

God's Word does not support your teachings of lawlessness (without law).

Take Care now.
