I cannot feel pain, or feel emotions in dreams.
I can however wake up startled.

I only remember the extremely disturbing dreams, which were the result of watching horror.
Oh really? I have had disturbing supernatural encounters so I am very sensitive to horror. Plus when attacked my dreams make a horror flick look like a gogurt commercial. That was before God strengthened my faith, glory to Him- but once in awhile a strong negative entity will test me. It is literally terrifying but rare. Trust me, I am of full mental capacity, am psychologically sound and do not hear voices ever or have delusions.

So is it a reoccurring dream that happens the same way every time or is it always different? Try this- it works. Before you go to sleep, with one finger, trace a letter "C" on the back of your other hand a bunch of times before bed. In your dream, you will look down at your hand and see a black "c" on your hand connecting your subconscious mind to reality and will realize you are dreaming and that you can act in any manner you want because it's a dream. I swear it works!
It happens rarely. Maybe once or twice a year now.
It was never exactly the same twice just the same theme.

That makes sense. I have those some times. Hey what's with these ads that pop up now?

I was wondering if you feel pain in your dreams. Also is it normal to be able to remember all the dreams you have ever had? I could fill a catalog with all the dreams I can remember having.

Only when I say a Women's name while sleeping and my wife hits me.

I've never felt pain in a dream, and I can remember a lot of dreams, even some dreams from childhood, but I don't remember EVERY dream. How would you know that you remember every dream though? If you forget the dream, you don't know you dreamed. LOL

Yes I can and it is quite the interesting experience

Really? Yikes! Do you dream in color? I thought everyone dreamed in color till someone said they didn't dream in color. I see colors in my dreams.

Well, I remember most of my dreams.
Many times I wake up with the feel of the dream I had, but no details. (Kind of like having a joke to tell, or something important to tell someone, but can't remember what it was.)

Well first I think that dreams are part of the spiritual realm, I don't think our soul will travel outside of our bodies or anything crazy like that but I do think our souls will often take a trip while dreaming. I sometimes get spiritually attacked in dreams quite often actually because the devil has been trying to take me down since childhood. When I was in sin I would quite literally in the spiritual realm be beaten by demons. Glory to God that this has not happened ever since I've deviated from my old sins however I still get these occasional types of dreams, they no longer scare me because it's just the enemies way of trying to attack me. I must somehow be very spiritually susceptible to these types of attacks or open. However there is no fear when you have God to protect you, fear will flee you because it is afraid of Jesus.

The enemy will often utilize dreams to attack believers especially if you are sensitive to the spiritual realm but God will always have the last say. As long as you avoid sin and quite literally flee from it at all cost and do not actively engage in it, whatever the enemy does his attacks will become extremely limited or better yet non existent.

I'm the same and thought everyone else dreamed in colour too until a family member told me he dreams in black and white like those old films. He is in his 70s. I'm in my 40s. I wonder if it due to him having been brought up as a young child with mostly (90% of tv) black and white tv (this was in britain)

It sounds like sleep paralysis.
Sleep paralysisis a state, during waking upor falling asleep, in which a person is aware but unable to move or speak.[1][2] During an episode, one may hallucinate (hear, feel, or see things that are not there), which often results in fear.[1] Episodes generally last less than a couple of minutes.[2] It may recur or occur as a single episode.[1]

The condition may occur in those who are otherwise healthy or those with narcolepsy, or it may run in families as a result of specific genetic changes.[2] The condition can be triggered by sleep deprivation, psychological stress, or abnormal sleep cycles.[2] The underlying mechanism is believed to involve a dysfunction in REM sleep.[2] Sleep paralysis is commonly experienced by lucid dreamers; some lucid dreamers use this as a method of having a lucid dream.[3] Diagnosis is based on a person's description.[2] Other conditions that can present similarly include narcolepsy, atonic seizure, and hypokalemic periodic paralysis.[2]

Treatment options for sleep paralysis have been poorly studied.[1] It is recommended that people be reassured that the condition is common and generally not serious.[1] Other efforts that may be tried include sleep hygiene, cognitive behavioral therapy, and antidepressants.[1]

Between 8% and 50% of people experience sleep paralysis at some point in their life.[2][4] About 5% of people have regular episodes.[2] Males and females are affected equally.[2] Sleep paralysis has been described throughout history.[1] It is believed to have played a role in the creation of stories about alien abduction and other paranormal events.[1]
