The guy has his political opponents killed and the state run TV jokes about it... I think you are thinking of a different Putin.

Also this from 2020 shows he was never a fan of investigative journalism and freedom of speech. He wants to control the image coming out but we're not (all) that easily fooled?
Next week he's addressing the Netherlands, we're curious to see what he brings up.

Not a good way to start your threat with a blatant untruth.

Yes, if you attack a country, many things suffer, including individual liberties. There was heavy censorship in the USA during WW2. It would happen in any wartime country.

That's a fair point. Russian media has been blocked here (Netherlands) and a lot of news is blatantly anti Putin (which may well be fair). I just really hate all this misinformation, hate being lied to, hate feeling manipulated even though I know it's part of war.

Completely understandable. But even if it takes a bit more time than usual to get to the truth of matters and if truth is the first casuality of war, as the saying goes, I don't think its hard to see who the agressor in this conflict is.

Zelenskiy's push for NATO to get involved in the war is a push to end the world. And we're allowing him to address parliaments around the world and influence "public opinion" daily in the media.

We haven't done this for any persecuted or invaded group of people in the world, ever.

Either the West is going to be following him to the abyss of nuclear destruction or we are misleading him by a superficial show of approval for the purpose of advertising Western weapons at the expense of Ukranian blood.

When war happens, everything changes.
Whether it's war on infections, or war on a neighboring Country, all sorts of boundaries are challenged.
Some are broken, some change temporarily, and others change forever.

But war of any sort always leaves an indelible mark on history.
The course of Time is forever changed, and only rarely is the recovery completly restored to the way things were before.

Most invaded nations will ask for help from the nations of the world... the nature of the players in this particular conflict makes it more interesting and newsworthy for the western governments and populations, so it's more publicised.

NATO is an concept expressly formed to counter Russian expansionism, so it seems like an appropriate situation for them to be involved.

So how do you know that it is misinformation?

As for banning political parties with ties to a nation that has invaded yours, I'm struggling to see the problem?

Did you have the nerve to say 'If Putin ever did anything like that'? I think most people might note a difference in banning Ukranian parties with Russian links from policial activity until the end of Martial Law and actually killing the opposition. Ten of them listed here:

How do I know the information from Ukraine is misinformation? It's always later contradicted/corrected. The Dutch news now say 'according to Ukraine' and 'unverified' until the correct information can be given. Ukraine are engaged in a disinformation war, we are advised on how to deal with this (in the Dutch media).
It was obvious when Chernobyl wasn't destroyed causing a nuclear disaster and after the bombing of the maternity hospital didn't add up to "evidence of genocide" that Ukraine were guilty of grossly exaggerating, which is misinformation.

I'm not sure the other question is for me? Nobody has invaded my country recently. I don't have an opinion on Zelenksy banning opposing parties during wartime.

I'll bet that you won't find anyone suggesting that the damage to the maternity hospital was in itself genocide. What you will have read is this:

“Hospitals and schools are destroyed. Churches and ordinary buildings are destroyed. People are killed. Children are killed. I suggest you read reports more carefully. It will prevent people from thinking you are trying to lessen the impact of Russia's attack on a sovereign nation. I'm sure you wouldn't want to do that.

Last week, Ukrainian TV host Fakhrudin Sharafmal on his show cited Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann calling for extermination of all Russians including children, and his Fascist speech caused widespread concern and panic, especially among many Russian civilians.

I don't understand some of these truly bizarre opinions.

"Ukrainian people are dying! But who is to blame? Is it the army attacking Ukraine or the soldiers and civilians defending Ukraine? Who can say?"

It's ridiculous. Surely no one disputes that Russia invaded?

Is this some kind of prosperous lie along the lines of: "Russia wouldn't have invaded if Ukraine hadn't tried to join an alliance to protect themselves from a Russian invasion!"
