What kind of response is that to the obvious correct rebuke that the title of the thread is deeply misleading?

Suppose I made the following claim based on the fact that Charles Manson - the lone person - is a killer:

Long-haired Young Men are Killers

Then, when somebody pointed out the obvious - that you cannot generalize from one person - suppose I replied with

We'll have to see

....as if it is even remotely possible that if we waited around long enough we would discover that most long-haired young men are killers.

I changed the title.

This man is just as credible as one reporter giving an Op Ed. Which, today, is very common and people take it as truth.

If you don't agree with him.. that's fine. Like I said, we'll see.

Again and again we hear of and experience governments lifting mandates and guidelines when case loads ease and infections go down. We've not been "lulled into believing" anything. We took steps to mitigate the damage of a new virus and are easing those restrictions, mandated or otherwise, now that the crises has let up. Simple.

Yes ... I can only wonder about all of the uproar, ... now that the virus' threat has actually diminished ... and we are now on the precipice ... of having all restrictions/mandates lifted ?

I am somewhat dismayed by how long it took for these protests to come to be.

You may wonder about all the uproar. However, millions, if not billions, of people around the world, if so called free countries, are certainly aware of the reasons for the uproar.

Now, the latest "variant" of COVID 19 has passed through, with it's basic flue like conditions, and numbers are dropping off.

So, the powers that be can remove the restrictions and save face by stating that it's not due to the massive protests against control... but simply that the numbers are now low enough to justify reopening...

All this when, never once, have they ever stated an actual "number" a concrete solid metered count of "new cases per day" or " number in ICU" at which they can "open up again".

Most things have a stat based numerical amount to which the rules follow.. 16 years old to drive. 18, 19 or 21 years old to drink, 18 years old to vote. 0.08 mg/l blood alcohol for impaired driving. 60 mph on a highway. The list goes on...

However, with COVID, all we get is "when it's low enough"... So vague.

Then you have the ever moving goal posts.. "masks don't work"... "must wear a mask"
Then you have the obvious and constant "rules for thee, not for me" of elite and powerful people who hypocritically don't follow the "rules" that they make... and excuse it.

You also have the totally illogical thought process of forcing people to get vaccinated..

I mean really.. our Prime minister was double vaxed and boosted and still got COVID.. then mandates that all truckers should be Double vaxed..... It obviously makes no difference.. It's moronic.

We had 90% vaccination rate... for goodness sake... open up..

If the vaccinations work.. we should have had heard immunity at 60%... wait, nope... 70%.. wait, nope..80%... wait.. nope... gotta be 100%....

This world wide global resistance is well warranted and full on against government control and lack of confidence in those giving the "so called" science.

It's about freedom of the people.
It's about halting a controlling government.
It's about the government working for and serving it's populace. Not controlling it's peasants.
It's about loss in confidence with big pharma, health organizations, government leaders, and doctors.

IMO, they tried... but it was too soon and too fast.

If they had of waited another 5 or 10 years until these indoctrinated kids are in places of power and are the majority of the population and parents of the youth.... It would have went like clockwork.

This may have set them back a decade or so.

Like I said.. wait and we'll see.

So far the 7:00PM deadline and the midnight deadline have passed and the police have refused to arrest anyone.

As time passes, we will see, IMO, that the bullying governments understand that their law enforcers are well aware of the law and legal limits.

If Trudeau brings in the military... he will be done. All these things compound the lack of knowledge that he has in what his country is saying and what the civilians of the country that he is supposed to be leading hold dear.

The new variants do indeed pass right though all vaccinations. But basically nobody who has been vaccinated has died from the new strains, worldwide. And that was the main concern.

I understand your frustration with "everyone" not being able to predict the specifics of the pandemic. But we never had a vaccine before to use during the pandemic so we didn't know about these variations that would pop up and evade the vaccine. Because we've never created one before, fast enough.
But the vaccine keeps people from dying, and that should remain our focus.
