Good. Land lords should be able to choose according to their standards.

"For Lease: Four bedroom property in Bondi. Off street car parking. Short walk to beach. No Catholics or disabled."

Is that the sort of standards we want people to uphold?

From what I can find, PA has rules that explicitly prohibit discrimination based on sex, and the decision to include lgbtq concerns under the banner of "sex" is being handled as a matter of regulatory interpretation by the commission that administers those regulations.

Can I be evicted if I'm trans? Your tenant rights in Pennsylvania if you identify as LGBTQ.
About PHRC

So, it's not that PA doesn't have these rules at all - it's that they kind of sort of have the rules, but they're subject to change.
Right. Those rights last until the next Republican administration.

From the OP: "Pennsylvania is one of 27 states that have no explicit statewide laws protecting people from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing and public accommodations."

Does it need to be explicit?

There is no civil rights legislation in place for this at the state of federal level. SO it is not redundant.

and who says there is no power to enforce?

I think you are mistaken, but, I am mostly just
commenting on the partisan rush to judgment.
As a kind of double or triple minority myself
I do favour protections.
But I dont live there, its not my deal.

History would say yes. Given the opportunity, humans will happily discriminate against "the other".

If it for example says " no person shall" must every possible person be named?

Im left handed Asian lesbian.
But ostensibly a person.

??

Anti-discrimination laws need to be explicit about the reasons why you may not discriminate against a person. There are plenty of reasonable, legal reasons to discriminate. For example, a landlord may discriminate against you based on income for the justifiable reason that they want to be sure that your can pay your rent. So a non-explicit non-discrimination law does not make sense.

Where not specified, it is usually resolved in a court case where the law is interpreted to include more modern interpretations of non-discrimination laws. This is a sloppy way to do it and very time consuming.

That's their choice. If you don't have facilities for disabled people, why would that be a problem?

There'd be no problem. No steps. Walk in/wheel in shower. I just don't want those sort of people in my home. And good to know you'll support me if I were to actually specify that.

Just the other day, I had a good christian, in a christian forum where folks are not anonymous, tell me that those laws are “evil.” (her words)

No but I'd support you if you don't have those facilities and still want to rent to healthy people. If you have stairs it makes no sense to rent to people who can not get up steps.

That's a laugh, they want to be treated differently they want everyone to think they are something so special. There are laws for disabled people, I know I am a part of the ADA. We work hard to have people treat us normally

As you can see, some people deem that you're not normal and/or healthy, so please don't go crying for special treatment with special laws.

I have the facilities. But disabled people? Sheesh - who'd want a disabled person living in their home? So you'll support 'my standards'. Which will include certain Christian denominations, women, people of certain ethnic backgrounds and gay people. Sounds like you're OK with that.

And I've persuaded all the restaurants around here to discriminate against anyone not vaccinated as well. Glad we've got you on board.

I don't believe in discrimination because of race because it's senseless. Truth is, no one can tell race for sure by looking at someone anyway. But we aren't talking about discrimination, but practicality. At least that's what I'm talking about. You are off on some rant to make everything about hate.
You should be able to choose people based on their behavior and dress codes that you set, however. That's just common sense. If someone is the kind of tenant who is going to parade around in women's underwear it makes people understandably uncomfortable. If they are going to shout religious slogans in the faces of people, that would be a consideration too. Would you rent to Westboro Baptists?

IF there is such mistreatment taking place then it needs to be addressed.
Demonstrating that would beat a whole page of snark.

Shrug. If that's what you object to... who you allow on your property is your business.

No, it is already well established in our legal system that the state has a vested interest in keeping certain classes protected from discrimination.
