What's the story behind your avatar and username? Why did you choose them?

I took mine right before a Gatsby New Year's Eve party!

Anddddd, my username is pretty self-explanatory, but, my username is the first name I could think about when it came to my life and what I desired for my life to be: Shining the light of Jesus to others.

I tend to think of my life when making usernames. Even though it's not that deep, haha.

I came up with my username when I was 13 and made my first online account on some website or other. Mojo was sort of a nickname, and I was 13, so I reversed it into a 31. Now I'm legit 31 :boredsleep:

My avatar was actually created by the funniest dude in CF history, @MrMoe . I had always used Bogart as an avatar image, and one day Moe posted art he'd made out of a bunch of CFers. So I snagged it to use as an avatar.

My picture is just a random picture I found. Looked cool, so I swiped it lol. But it does remind me of Jesus' face looking through the universe.

I joined CF back in 2005! Back then, I was living with my dad and joining a forum and didn't know what my username should be. So, I started looking around the house. Well, my dad was making his famous spaghetti, so I just went with Saucy. He passed a year later, so that's why I've never changed it because it's a connection to him.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. That must've been, and probably still is, a very hard thing to go through. I certainly understand why you kept your username.

Mine are photos taken of me when i was 25/26 for possible use in a resume, by one of my best friends who is a photographer. This is from days before digital photos took over and cameras used film.

And a lot of times a contact sheet would be made to just get a look a what was taken. So a picture could be picked out and printed up for use for what ever.

I ended up never using them in a resume, actually i have only used a resume once in my life time. That was right out of college for my first job interview.

My user name is my name, abbreviation for my first name

Instead of harpooning a white whale, I had/have a similar obsession with tarpon fishing. And just like with the white whale, when the seagulls come through and start making a lot of noise, that tells me the tarpon are close by. As of right now I have been out of it for a little while because tarpon fishing surely held dominion over me just like whaling did Captain Ahab, and it was causing destruction, was a source of pride and arrogance, as well as even anger at times due to my insatiable desire for perfection in my sport. I always had to outperform previous feats. It was something I was involved in well before becoming Christian but I felt convicted about how much time, money, and effort I put in, and just as much if not more focus was placed upon that than God. I had too much success at it for my own good, and I thank Him for every one He allowed me to catch, and every day I had that I was able to fish for them and being able to go to the places I’ve been and spending that time outdoors in His creation. But most of all I thank Him for giving my brothers and sister and I a dad who used to take us fishing when we were little, that is what led to my interest in fishing. I just made the mistake of taking it to obsessive levels when I got older. But I would say that those days when we were little, just catching whatever smaller fish we could get with our dad on his days off, means more to me than the best days I’ve ever had catching tarpon six to seven feet long.

I’d like to get back into it but I don’t trust me, I will end up getting in far too deep like always, sort of like an alcoholic who can’t just drink on occasion. My avatar is a picture of the beach where I first learned how to fish for tarpon a long time ago, right from the shore.

Username is from Norse mythology. Chose it because I like the name and enjoy reading Norse sagas.

The avatar (as were others I've used) are images of Norse Shieldmaidens. Evidence of historical Shieldmaidens is limited at best. However, some of my friends have told me I remind them of one. At least in a modern way. I practice Historical European Martial Arts and have some knowledge of how to use a Viking Age sword and how to use a spear. I also enjoy training in the use of firearms (self-defense and hunting). And Eowyn is one of my favorite characters from Lord of the Rings.

Hi ShineYourLight!

I’ve never met you here before,I’ve been
Here awhile now,but if you ever see me around, mine was taken while on vacation last year in a place called Sanibel Island.

Sanibel island is the best shelling spot in America, and that’s not a personal opinion, that’s a fact agreed upon by many people. My mother has been vacationing there since her childhood dating back to the 70s,the island itself is swarming with shells of all sorts,I myself have found many rare ones, like augers, ceriths, conchs, tulips, whelks, oysters. This previous year the water was the clearest I’ve ever seen it in all my life vacationing to sanibel, and was able to bring home upwards of 70 sand dollars.

But the photo itself was taken on Captiva Island,it’s sister island connected via a small bridge,I was eating at a place called the Mucky duck and the photo was taken at the beach in front to the restaurant, while waiting for my family to come out and take their usual family photos,I decided to make some of my spare time and make sand sculptures. The one on the left is a 5 armed sea star and the one on the right is a sea turtle, but the one I was most proud of was the cross in the center, and if my memory serves me correctly, the Bible verse I drew below it was Genesis 1:21 in Roman numerals(I:XXI) and asked a lady to take a photo of me in front of them with a rainbow in the background from a recent rain shower in the mainland.I upon looking back think of it as the symbol of the renewed covenant of humanity with the Lord as he would never destroy humanity again.

Username is from a series that, sadly, I've resigned to never likely finishing (even selling the 9 volumes of the first arc, which are probably worth upward of $100 total, if I had to guess, maybe more).

It's a Japanese transliteration of an expression from the Platform Sutra (I only recently learned this out of curiosity), that author seemingly expanding on it and taking inspiration also from Linji, a Ch'an/Zen Buddhist monk who spoke on the topic as well that we come into life with no preconceptions and such, seeking to move towards such a state of mind through meditation, etc. The author seems to have studied it fairly well to note such a thing as an extra in the manga I must've missed or was in another volume

And the profile pic is more linked to the signature, specifically the idea of spitting on perfection (a quote from the character in the story when facing an opponent that claimed to be perfect and thus couldn't lose), which is similar in nature to the principle that underpins muichimotsu, that seeking perfection means you're trying to find an end goal that leaves no room for improvement, which is stagnation rather than wisdom and knowledge that can better aid others, because none of us are perfect or we wouldn't need to strive to find answers at all.

My name in real life is kinda long and everyone hits it wrong. So as a kid when I hung out at the arcade you could only enter so many charchters for a name when you get top score. Usually 4 was the cut off and thier is no way to shorten my name to 4 letters. So I became Jack and the name stuck. Eventually online gaming became a thing and I thought of a good name that wasn't taken. Ergo jackknife spelled wrong I became jacknife. My Pic is from the game series Zelda.

Avatar is the pic of myself that @shineyourlight and @bèlla insisted I use for my avatar, lol. I should probably get a new pic sometime. My current screen name is my name transliterated from Hebrew and the CF admins were kind enough to let me change it on here after I started on a Torah-observant path. It isn't reflective of my actual legal name, lol.

Great topic!

I could have chosen any flower because half of the pictures on my phone are flowers (from my parent's garden) but Cute Peonies was the ... cutest I guess? No I'm not a florist or a botanist.

And I'm using this picture on all of my social media profiles so I had to use it here too. That lady looks just like me xD She's wearing white and holds flowers and that could easily be me haha The only difference between her and me is our hair color.

Anyways, can't wait to read the other replies.

My gamertag was lavadude, but the name kept getting taken, so instead of using numbers I just added an 'R'. I was a preteen and thought It sounded cool.

As for my avatar blue and black are my favorite colors. The cross is an indicator of my statement of faith in my LORD and savior. The red stands for the blood he shed for my sins. The top left red halo is actually a crown of thorns. The three stripes are the three days he was dead. The nails on the left and right stand for the thieves. You can see there is a crooked nail and a strait nail. (I don't remember if there was a left to right order for thieves in the scripture.) The one on the left is strait for the thief that went to heaven, and the one that is crooked for the one that went to hell.

My username is a shortened version of a username I have been using since the 1980s. RHawk is short for RunningHawk. That name to me means I am not always living up to my potential. Like a Hawk who only runs on the ground, I often fail to realize I can do so much more.

My avatar? I am someone who loves animals. When I got my first pet living on my own, I was living in an apartment and working 10 to 12 hours a day, I knew a dog would need to be walked and taken out and I erroneously thought that cats were very independent and could be left alone for that time (or longer if I went on weekend trips), so I adopted a cat. Now I know cats and have stayed with them. I believe all animals are a blessing from God. I tried to hire someone to create a picture like the Creation of Adam with my first cat, about 20 years ago, but the picture was not that good or what I wanted. Then last year I used a picture of my cat Perseus in a bowtie and decided to place him in the "Creation of Adam" painting and make it "Creation of Pets". I make and sell cat toys on the side, and I have put an ad in my Cathedrals bulletin for the last 4 or 5 years and decided to change it to the image I use as my Avatar, and it says "May the Lord bless both you and your pets" in the ad.

My tag line I hope is self-explanatory. ;)

Vinter is the danish word for Winther. I like Winther. I like all 4 seasons, so I guess could have called my self Summer, Autumn or Spring. But I liked Vinter the best so I went with that one.

My avi is brown leaves with snow, so that is also very winther like.

I have somethimes thought about changing my avi to something comicbook or anime related, but since it's still winther I will keep it as it is for now.
