So, to answer my own question just above:
How can we do better at accomplishing our ideals when we have in legislative majorities that are thought to agree to those ideals?

I think an answer is to write/email/call to your local legislature more often when you have any way to notice something like this comes up to the legislature: such as allocation of property taxes to poor school districts.

Any other ideas?

Just putting ya'll recent posters in this thread into a notification list so ya'll get a chance to see this interesting video below:

Democrats and especially progressives (a subcategory) tend to correctly be concerned about outcomes.

I was watching something on Youtube the other day while doing some tasks and then this below automatically played next, even though I don't think I've tried to watch one of these NYT opinion videos, but this one turned out to be a lot more interesting than typical opinion pieces.

By far.

I think it's got some really interesting things to think about (and also for me provoked a realization about an entirely different implication unrelated to the video but quite interesting, which I'll put in another post).

Enjoy, and include me in your discussions and/or watch for another post I'll make related to it.

Here is the problem with your post .. I am not democrat nor liberal .. I am life long conservatives.

Here is a video on if Jan 6th was or was not a coup.
The speaker lays out his case.

This is the DEMOCRATIC safe house. I don't think anyone here has any doubt with regard to the nature of January 6th.

And no, I don't view youtube videos on the subject.

If you don't believe it was a coup, get out of here and stay out. There is a reason this section is called the "Democratic SAFE House" and you know what that means.
Hey, the video guy, despite his appearance, does think that it was a coup attempt and lays out the reasons why. He is thoughtful and well-spoken. He does argue whether it was a "dissident coup" or a "self coup" (spoiler alert - he believes the latter).

@JustOneWay is fully aware what thread this is and has posted appropriately.

That's what I love about the 'video guy'. Never judge a book by its cover.

I've only been posting in the Democrat Safe House since 2005 or somewhere around there....LOL

I find it more sad than curious. But I'm supposed to become a Republican or conservative with age? Yeah, not gonna happen.

I never heard that about aging and my mom is proof against the idea. She switched parties in 2000 (from Republican to Democrat) and both of her siblings have been Democrats longer than that.

It's based on a quote attributed to Winston Churchill. And I have encountered the assumption from American conservatives that "As people get older and mature, they get more conservative."

I've never found the sentiment to be true either. Not in the notion that people generally get more conservative with age (I think it's really that younger generations are more socially liberal, making older people seem conservative by comparison). And not in the notion that conservatives are bastions of maturity as they jump up and down about election fraud and everything being communism.

I just just sat down and watched a movie with a woman, who just happens to be white.
Nahh, doesn't sound quite right.

It really is a very odd thing to say. Is it such a novelty for Trump, to talk to black people, that he has to call it out???
At least he didn't say "this is my African American" again, like he is property. So it's an improvement, but there is still plenty more room for improvement. Trump has lots of potential. When you start from such a low place, the potential is bigly. Maybe a friendship with Ye will do him some good.

The courts today decided that the actions were a seditious conspiracy. At least 2 of the guilty counts are punishable by up to 20 years in jail. There are at least 19 more cases.

There is no question that this action was. Many will be convicted and go to jail.

One open question is whether any WH folks will be convicted of serious charges.

The other open question is whether the Republican senators will stand up and condemn the conspiracy, the big lie, and the actions of Trump in supporting these efforts.

Well, 7 have, and that's...enough to mean there is some portion of that group that tries to do what is right, and/or has more honesty in their thinking/words than those that preferred to repeat Trump's election lies. Though, yes, it would be great to have more than just 7 of the Republican senators standing up for what's right.

A nice bit of satire from USA Today:

Sample:
In February of last year, Trump told Fox News: "Durham is also coming up with things far bigger than anybody thought possible. Nobody ever thought a thing like this would be even discussed, let alone an act like this committed.”

The things nobody ever thought would be discussed were apparently so much bigger than anyone thought possible that Durham’s four-year investigation yielded a whopping two acquittals and one guilty plea resulting in a former FBI lawyer getting sentenced to one-year of probation. Undoubtedly the libs will think twice before again committing the crime of the century.
