• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi all,
I've been lately diagnosed with schizophrenia. I was suffering from depression for years but I stressed too much, I didn´t put God first, I didn´t sleep and eat properly. I often was irritable and my family sufferred a lot. Currently I feel guilty, my schizophrenia feels like really bad depression, I have no hallucinations. Please, pray for me, pray for me to obtain mercy from God. I really did bad things.

Abba Father, thank you for the gift of faith and heart of flesh you gave this dear sister. Thank you for the Lamb that was slain and your forgiveness that brings healing. Abba Father, we pray for a revelation of your love and mercy in this dear sister's life. Please help her believe in who you are that she may receive your peace and joy. Thank you. We pray this in the name of Yeshua our Lord and Savior. Amen.

pray for me to obtain mercy from God.

Jesus died in order to pay the penalty for Your guilt, Your shame, Your evil deeds, and in exchange forgave you All Your sins.
That is All Your sins, known sins, unknown sins, confessed sins, unconfessed sins, Litterally All Your sins.

So keep taking your medication. Keep seeking to serve Jesus and memorise 1John 1:8+9 and do it.

Do you not hear any voices, or feel like you have spirits inside anymore?
No, I don't hear voices anymore, and I no longer feel spirits inside me. It took a while, however, for me to gain enough faith, to keep it all at bay.

Did you take medication while you were fighting this battle?

This is encouraging for me, as I have been searching for someone to perform and old school exorcism.

This is encouraging for me, as I have been searching for someone to perform and old school exorcism.

I had two main times when I heard voices in my life the first were voices of condemnation, accusing me of losing my salvation. I overcame that by attending church and listening to what people said to me. Spiritual encouragement overcame the attacks, as I began to stand on God's word that I was saved. Soon after this, I tried to hear God's voice, and I became a little confused by the messages I was receiving. This was more a self inflicted kind of schizophrenia. At that time I was admitted to a mental hospital and put on medication, due to people not understanding my desire to hear from God.

There have been spikes in my life where a voice of condemnation will occur, but 99.99% of the time I am at peace. That peace is maintained by spending time with God, in the word, and in prayer. A fruit of the Spirit is peace, I attribute the peace I have to that time spent with God.

You mentioned you are looking for an old-school exorcism, I do not recommend that, I tried it many times in my journey, it never did anything. It was only as I grew in trust toward God, and spent daily time in prayer that the primary attacks stopped.

It's possible that the ones you have / had only responded to fasting and prayer.

Matthew 17:21
21Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

It's also possible that the ones some of us have don't respond the same way.

It does not hurt to fast and seek God. It is through seeking God that any spiritual battle is won. The devil loves to tell Christians they are possessed, the reality is, the devil only has the power we give to him. If we can stand in the truth that we are forgiven, and have power over Satan, then he must leave.

I mean, I know what you are saying when it comes to fighting Satan from an external perspective, but that's just not true from an internal perspective because they are already past the armor.

Also, sometimes god gives him power as well, and who are we to take away from something God has willed.

I'm happy that your issue was resolved with right living though, praise be to the Lord.

Hi, Michealaj. It's nice to meet you. I just want to say that, while I don't know your specific struggles, I can relate to guilt relating to psychosis. I have schizoaffective disorder, depressive type, and I've sinned and behaved horribly in my psychosis. But, one of the most important things to remember, is that God knows what you're going through. He hears you, and He loves you. He loves you so much, Christ died for your sins. Including the ones committed when you were dealing with your schizophrenia and depression. It may not be a cure that makes the illness disappear or go away overnight, but remembering how Christ died for your sins, and how much God loves you, it may help. I hope it does. You're in my prayers.
