The Jews, the Messianic, and the Seventh Day Adventists, all have one thing in common, it is Exodus 20:3, to remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. I know this because they have taught this to us on this forum....
Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Everybody is led by God in some way or other, so that teaching they shared ( of their beliefs they follow) gave awareness, of the significance of remembrance.
The Gospel we see in Luke 1, begins by showing how God now has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy ( now time for grace in Christ)
This is the knowledge of salvation, by the remission of His peoples sins, now that God had visited them, to guide our feet now unto the way of peace. ( Christ says my peace I give unto you)...
Luke 1:54 He hath helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;
Luke 1:77 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
78 Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Jesus teaches how it is that Holy Ghost that will teach us all things and will bring all things into remembrance, what Jesus had said to us.
For us then to teach all nations, to observe all things what Jesus had said to us ( Jesus then being with us forever when the Spirit of Christ dwells in us)...
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
The Apostles ( mostly Apostle Paul who is Apostle to the Gentiles) teaches us that we shall be brought into remembrance of his ways in Jesus Christ. ( this is how Paul taught in every church)
Paul taught of the offering of the body and blood of Christ, how we are to do this in remembrance of Him.
Paul shares again, tidings of the faith and charity of the believers, which shows the good remembrance of the Apostles ( of their ways in Christ)...
1 Corinthians 4:17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.
1 Corinthians 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
1 Thessalonians 3:6 But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
Now remember the purpose of this thread. It is remembrance ( which is conscience)
In the last times, some come along who have no remembrance ( of the ways of the Apostles in Christ)
Paul taught what it is they do specifically. forbidding to marry, and commanding to not have the meats which God has said every creature is good.
The significance here is, we are to put the brothers in remembrance of these things, to be nourished up in the words of faith and good doctrine.
1 Timothy 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1 Timothy 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
1 Timothy 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
This continues now to Hebrews 10.
The law had a shadow of the things to come ( the shadow of the law was to remember the sabbath to keep it holy)
The law could make nobody perfect ( remembrance of the sabbath to keep it holy could not be holy/perfect)
The sacrifices Israel made could never cease to be made ( the remembrance of the sabbath could never be ceased until the comers were made perfect, and no need for them to remember to be holy once sanctified, as was the every creature sanctified by the Word of God and prayer, and we were sanctified once for all by the body of Christ)
The ones who then still have remembrance of sins, have remembrance of keeping the sabbath day holy, and have remembrance of refusing to call all creatures good. It is told why, as the conscience is seared with that iron, instead of being saved by the baptism of Christ in the answer of a good conscience of Gods remembrance for us and of remembrance of the ways of the Apostles of the Lord in Christ....
Hebrews 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Hebrews 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Make no mistake, nothing in our entire new testament tells us to remember the sabbath day to keep it holy, as that would be teaching against how God remembered us to sanctify us, and also in the cleansing of the Gentiles revealed all creatures of God are good. ( no longer the Jews separating from the Gentiles as they did and do, and as testified, sensual, separate, having not the spirit)
Now the remembrance is to put on Christ, which is to put on charity, this is the baptism of the Holy Ghost ( Gods grace) and not the remembrance of the law and of the sabbath to keep it holy...
Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Colossians 3:14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
Jude 1:19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
Add to our faith knowledge ( knowledge of salvation by the remission of our sins, which is Gods mercy in remembrance of Israel/grace and the law is not of faith)
Add kindness and charity. ( remembrance of the ways of the Apostles of the <Lord is the faith and charity of them)
To abound this way as testified ( in our new Testament) is to be fruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
To not have these things is, to not have true remembrance ( it is to be in remembrance of the law and sabbath instead)
To do the law is to be fallen from grace, it is forgetting ( and then not remembering) that they were purged from their old sins.
Galatians 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
2 Peter 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
The theme of the thread of remembrance, there is nothing else to remember kin the entire new testament, go and search for anything else at all.
Apostle Peter then makes certain not to neglect to put these things in remembrance for us, ( taught to us against what they do not remember, by remembering an old testament ways instead)...
2 Peter 1:2 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.
13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.
15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
