I'm wondering if it is because he was really proud of Warp Speed?

That could be...maybe it's a branding effort to make himself the "Vaccine Guy" or a "See, I'm the guy who cleared the red tape so we could get those vaccines that you democrats love so much a lot quicker"

For all of his mishaps & faults, one thing that a lot of narcissistic types do, is "ride the fence" on something until they can see that one particular side has clearly lost, and then hop over to the winning side and act like they were on their side all along, and not only that, brand themselves a "champion" of that winning side.

I can imagine.

It kinda takes away from that favorite allegation of the political Left to the effect that all Trump voters are mindless robots who will consistently cheer whatever Trump says.

For the longest time, there was truth to that...he could make a seriously boneheaded move, and they would rush to his defense and find a reason why it had to be "4d chess".

Now that he's not in power anymore, some of that loyalty appears to have fizzled out.

Whatever you want to I suppose...

I didn't vote for him, so I have the luxury and privilege of not having to defend him lol.

Although, I will say, I've never really cared about seeing any president's tax returns.

Given that he was a rich NYC real-estate guy who owned casino's and had quite a few business failures and sketchy deals over the years, I'll go out on a limb and say what you'd find in his tax returns are the same things I'd find if I got a peek at the CEO's for my company:

1) A High income
2) Exploitation of tax loopholes
3) Writing things off as business expenses (that were really for pleasure)

That sort of stuff...
What they would be looking for are conflicts of interest or perhaps indications that the president is financially chummy with certain organisations or people or foreign interests.
There wasn't a law to say they must disclose their finances, just as their isn't a law to say that people must disclose their vaccine and booster status.

But Trump was calling out Republican's for not disclosing as being "gutless" which obviously ought to apply to himself for not disclosing his tax returns (as all prior presidents have done)

Oof, if you're looking for any politician at the federal level that doesn't have a chummy relationship with one industry or another, that's going to be an extraordinarily short list.

Bernie Sanders, and maybe 1 or 2 others??? That's about as long as the list will get.

Nope, I'm just pointing out the Trump's logic of Republicans being "gutless" also applies to him.

Just casual banter here.

To clarify on this part...

All prior presidents haven't...many in recent history have, but that really wasn't a common practice before then. Gerald Ford is another one on the list who didn't. JFK didn't either, as Nixon was the first one to ever release them...and that's only because he was in some hot water.

Anyway, we now can see clearly that it was all just political sloganeering, and the claim was meant to last only as long as it worked. In reality, it never was true.

And as for the Trump voters themselves...now we're supposed to believe the new claim...that they had a miracle conversion only this week.

Trump calls GOP politicians who withhold booster status "gutless"

Former President Trump slammed politicians who refuse to reveal whether they have received their COVID vaccine booster shots, calling them "gutless" in an interview with One American News Network.

I was surprised to see Trump take boos from his own fanbase over vaccination related comments twice.

I'm even more surprised that it hasn't deterred the messaging, and he (on OAN of all places) called GOP politicians who refuse to reveal their booster status as "gutless".

Either he's trying to distance himself from that particular element of the base, or he wants it to a "differentiating issue" to portray himself as "the moderate reasonable one" in the primaries... or perhaps it's more of the long game. Perhaps he's trying to preemptively let the air out of some covid related talking points that he knew Democrats may try to use against him should get the party nod for 2024?

Still not sure what the angle is. For a guy who doesn't take criticism well, and loves having an echo chamber, he's gone out of his way a few times to say something that he know a lot of his loyal fan base may turn on him for.
Wow, fascinating! Maybe because he was boo’d for saying he got the booster and then sees conservative pundits like Tucker Carlson hide their vaccination status while giving merit to the anti-vax crowd /conspiracy theorists for ratings.
