Agreed to a point, but let's remember that this applies only to local elections.

If you live in a city, work in a city, and pay taxes in a city, you are entitled to some say in what happens in the city... "no taxation without representation," after all...
and the next thing will be if you live in a state and pay taxes and the next step will be if you live in a nation and pay taxes. one little liberal step at a time and no one will notice until it is too late.

If you aren’t a citizen then you’re a guest in that locale by choice.

If you disagree with how it’s run then you move elsewhere or return home.

One thing I need to look up, and people can chime in with if they already know, is could a state do this for national level (presidential) elections? Local government don't have this kind of authority, but being a federalist country, our states have a lot of power, generally any explicitly not given to the federal government. As far as I am aware, we don't technically have a national election for president, but 51 separate state (and DC) ones, and their rules vary. As an example, in some states, you cannot vote if you were ever a felon, while others you can vote once you are out, others you have to clear parole/probation, and in 2 you can vote all the time, even from prison. What is to stop a state from allowing any residents to vote if they so choose, regardless of citizenship status?

Too late for what exactly?

Citizens have rights those rights are available to all citizens regardless of how they became citizens, those rights were paid for in blood, they do not come free and they should be valued.

Are you willing to defend them in blood as well, or are these just words?

I personally disagree with this. Voting is a right that comes with citizens, and non-citizens should not get to vote. If people want to vote, they need to become citizens IMO

Thoughts?

No, voting is not a right that comes with citizenship. The constitution only enumerates certain things that cannot be used to prevent someone from voting. It doesn't guarantee a right to vote in the first place and it gives states the authority to determine who's eligible to vote.

Non-citizen voting in federal elections was only banned in 1996.

Prior to 1996, yes, states could've done whatever they wanted. Since 1996, the feds have banned non-citizens from voting in federal elections, but the states are still free to do whatever they want regarding state and municipal elections.

Over here in germany, non-citizens (refugees etc.) are allowed to vote for a local council that advises the elected officials on matters regarding the non-citizens, giving those people a voice to be heard without any direct influence into how things are run.

I think that's fair.

That's an interesting idea. I've worked for non-US companies and there are always people from the original country working there for years on green cards. I would support some kind of representation for non-citizens at the local level such as school boards, the county dogcatcher, etc.

And yet it is the recent immigrants who are the ones who are disproportionatly paying in blood.

I honestly wouldn't even be surprised at legalized inappropriate behavior with animals at this point. I'd strongly oppose it, but it wouldn't surprise me at all considering how many of these slippery slopes have been coming true. And I wouldn't at all be surprised if, when I opposed it, I didn't get dogpiled by a group of people calling me a bigot or hater for having such a rational belief. A decade ago, there was such a thing as a ridiculous extreme. Not anymore. Not in a world in which a major portion of the population has no sense of objective reality. You really can't argue logic when madness has been adopted as a norm.
If irony had mass this could become a blackhole.

Are you questioning my patriotism? Why do you feel qualified to even ask that question? Have you done anything to demonstrate your willingness to make any sacrifice for this country?

I'm not surprised that you're equating non-citizen to non-human.

There's a lot of "blood" talk from certain quarters on this site: "saved by blood", "blood and soil", "paid for in blood", etc.
