In another thread, @Gary K got me to thinking;

'What you are describing is sanctification. The changing of your heart that is impossible for you to do for yourself that changes your behavior. Paul calls it the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5. The OT speaks of this too in relation to the Sabbath. Exodus 31:13 Jesus describes this same thing in his conversation with Nicodemus. John 3'

I haven't studied the subject of sanctification much.
Little knowledge of the mechanics.
God has changed me, continues to change me.
It causes me to pray prayers of thanks, many times, daily, hourly.
Not to expound on the negative, but folks have been dealt some pretty bad hands.
I......have been the dealer.
Read somewhere, before you go to God, go to those you've sinned against.
I ran to them.
Asked for forgiveness of things from many years back.
Every one, all, readily forgave me.
Many tears, all around.
Quite cleansing.
I've prayed earnestly for strength, wisdom, knowledge, a right heart.
I've noticed some huge changes in my desires, my soul.
I cannot, not share.
It bubbles forth.

if this is sanctification, then anyone, I mean anyone..... can be sanctified.

I'd like to know more about this.

Amen brother! That is it. The Holy Spirit reveals changes that must be made day by day, gives us the power to walk in obedience and the result day-by-day is as Paul says in Gal 2:20 "it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me".

2 Peter 1 describes it this way

4 Through these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world on account of lust. 5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, 6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, 7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they do not make you useless nor unproductive in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For the one who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins. 10 Therefore, brothers and sisters, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choice of you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; 11 for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you."

====================

Sanctification the Work of a Lifetime
The work of sanctification is the work of a lifetime; it must go on continually; but this work cannot go on in the heart while the light on any part of the truth is rejected or neglected. The sanctified soul will not be content to remain in ignorance, but will desire to walk in the light and to seek for greater light. As a miner digs for gold and silver, so the follower of Christ will seek for truth as for hidden treasures, and will press from light to a greater light, ever increasing in knowledge. He will continually grow in grace and in the knowledge of the truth. Self must be overcome. Every defect of character must be discerned in God's great mirror. We may discover whether or not we are condemned by God's standard of character. 1SM 317.2

1Corinthians 1;30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

If you have an electronic Bible look up the meaning of the words translated as wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. Jesus is all of these things to us at once. He is a package deal when we accept Him into our life.

As to what I bolded I understand exactly how you feel.

Thoughts from the Mount of Blessings is another very good book.This is a quote on the necessity of a living experience with Jesus.

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Without a living faith in Christ as a personal Saviour it is impossible to make our influence felt in a skeptical world. We cannot give to others that which we do not ourselves possess. It is in proportion to our own devotion and consecration to Christ that we exert an influence for the blessing and uplifting of mankind. If there is no actual service, no genuine love, no reality of experience, there is no power to help, no connection with heaven, no savor of Christ in the life. Unless the Holy Spirit can use us as agents through whom to communicate to the world the truth as it is in Jesus, we are as salt that has lost its savor and is entirely worthless. By our lack of the grace of Christ we testify to the world that the truth which we claim to believe has no sanctifying power; and thus, so far as our influence goes, we make of no effect the word of God. “If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal. And if I have the [38] gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And if I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profiteth me nothing.” 1 Corinthians

This quote comes from Christ's Object Lessons page 140, another outstanding book. As Jesus is our example how He lived and worked for others tells us how we should live and work for others. Doing what He did will develop the same character in us that it did in Him.

Christ was continually receiving from the Father that He might communicate to us. “The word which ye hear,” He said, “is not Mine, but the Father’s which sent Me.” John 14:24. “The Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister.” Matthew 20:28. Not for Himself, but for others, He lived and thought and prayed. From hours spent with God He came forth morning by morning, to bring the light of heaven to men. Daily He received a fresh baptism of the Holy Spirit. In the early hours of the new day the Lord awakened Him from His slumbers, and His soul and His lips were anointed with grace, that He might impart to others. His words were given Him fresh from the heavenly courts, words that He might speak in season to the weary and oppressed. “The Lord God hath given Me,” He said, “the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: He wakeneth morning by morning, He wakeneth Mine ear to hear as the learned.” Isaiah 50:4. [140]

From The Desire of Ages pages 190 and 191.

Every man is free to choose what power he will have to rule over him. None have fallen so low, none are so vile, but that they can find deliverance in Christ. The demoniac, in place of prayer, could utter only the words of Satan; yet the heart’s unspoken appeal was heard. No cry from a soul in need, though it fail of utterance in words, will be unheeded. Those who will consent to enter into covenant relation with the God of heaven are not left to the power of Satan or to the infirmity of their own [259] nature. They are invited by the Saviour, “Let him take hold of My strength, that he may make peace with Me; and he shall make peace with Me.” Isaiah 27:5. The spirits of darkness will battle for the soul once under their dominion, but angels of God will contend for that soul with prevailing power. The Lord says, “Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? ... Thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.” Isaiah 49:24, 25.

From The Desire of Ages page 665.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you,” Christ continued, “He that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also.” The Saviour was deeply anxious for His disciples to understand for what purpose His divinity was united to humanity. He came to the world to display the glory of God, that man might be uplifted by its restoring power. God was manifested in Him that He might be manifested in them. Jesus revealed no qualities, and exercised no powers, that men may not have through faith in Him. His perfect humanity is that which all His followers may possess, if they will be in subjection to God as He was.

This quote is why righteousness by faith is such a magnificent message, why it is the third angels message that will light the earth with the glory of God.

Christ has promised the gift of the Holy Spirit to His church, and the promise belongs to us as much as to the first disciples. But like every other promise, it is given on conditions. There are many who believe and profess to claim the Lord’s promise; they talk about Christ and about the Holy Spirit, yet receive no benefit. They do not surrender the soul to be guided and controlled by the divine agencies. We cannot use the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is to use us. Through the Spirit God works in His people “to will and to do of His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13. But many will not submit to this. They want to manage themselves. This is why they do not receive the heavenly gift. Only to those who wait humbly upon God, who watch for His guidance and grace, is the Spirit given. The power of God awaits their demand and reception. This promised blessing, claimed by faith, brings all other blessings in its train. It is given according to the riches of the grace of Christ, and He is ready to supply every soul according to the capacity to receive. DofA page 673

@Gary K -

Thank you so much for these.

I'm into The Desire of Ages right now.
I'm purposely reading it slowly.... digesting the contents.
It sure explains a lot of things.

The Desire of Ages is why I am a Christian today. I really hadn't understood that anyone, let alone God, cared for me until I read it under the influence of the Holy Spirit. He truly is the Comforter.

I kept posting more because I just didn't want you thinking nobody had much to say about the absolute beauty of RxF..
