Or it's fair to say that erosion and such is illustrates that everything is deteriorating. Only in rare cases do we see lava flows creating new land.

So are you saying, this world is still the same rotting carcass, just smellier?

Physical changes in our world have occurred/changed .... the basic nature of man ... no change. We keep repeating the same sins.

On the whole I doubt it smells nearly as bad as it did thanks to garbage and sewage management departments.

That's generous you think we haven't found any new ones.

No doubt, we've forgotten how to do some of the sins, but the new ones are probably those. So nothing new for sure.

and those who use this world as not misusing it. For the form of this world is passing away.

Where in this verse is this seen that Pauls world is not ours.

There will be a new restored earth after the ruin of the earth during the tribulation. I personally believe that is what Paul is speaking of.

I personally believe the earth after the tribulation may again be one circular piece of earth/land. Like God's created earth in Genesis 1 (for humanity) but was broken up during the flood.

That's not far off the mark. In Paul's day idolatry was rampant and the temple sacrifices were still being performed in Jerusalem. In most of the world there was a pagan statue or meeting house on nearly every street corner.

He is speaking of the temple age soon to pass away . The last stronghold for Judaism. Jesus Christ of Nazareth prophetic words are in the Gospels. He spoke of the " end of the age".

The physical world.

The previous world already passed away.

The current one takes on the likeness of the original world, but it isn't really the same thing.

If you are talking about the pre-Adamic creation, I agree. I also believe the the earth was substantially altered by Noah's flood. That's why speculation about the location of Eden is pointless.

The world is in the same form: sky, earth, seas, oceans, human governments, and human accomplishments. It's the same form as the evil world's systems, which will all pass away when Jesus returns.

Paul's idea there is actually about those who use the things of this present world with not abusing it, even though the present creation is in the process of passing away (destroyed).

We know per 2 Peter 3 that this present world, "the heavens and the earth which are now...", is preserved unto destruction by fire. That alone is a revelation that this present creation is not how God desires things to be.

In Romans 8, Apostle Paul showed that this present creation is in bondage to corruption, and seeks to be released from that bondage of vanity. By that Paul showed that he understood that today's present creation is not how God's first original perfect creation was prior to Satan's rebellion and fall.

From Genesis 1:2 forward is about God's creation of this present creation we are in today, a 2nd world earth age. Genesis 1:1 was God's original perfect creation prior to Satan's rebellion. Many brethren are confused about this, but Apostles Paul and Peter both knew about it, because they both hinted at it.

Elaborate on the 2nd world earth age.

The NT Christians thought Jesus would return in their lifetime (see the "we" texts).
Paul may be referring to it ending soon and the arrival of the new earth.
