Psalms 60:4 You have given a banner to those who fear You, that it may be displayed
because of the truth. Selah
If you ask what this banner is, you will make the same mistake as Pilate when he asked
the Lord, “what is truth”. The banner of truth is Christ Jesus, which He openly proclaimed
when He stated:
John 12:
32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all to Myself.
33 This He said, signifying by what death He would die.
His soon death by crucifixion would also fulfill the words spoken by Isaiah:
Isaiah 45:22 Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth!
This was also foreshadowed by the brass serpent in the wilderness.
John 3:
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must
the Son of Man be lifted up,
15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
This narrative is found in Numbers, or the Hebrew title Bemidbar=In the Wilderness
Bemidbar 21:
8 Then the Lord said to Moses, Make a brazen serpent, and set it on a pole; and it
shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.
9 So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent
had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.
The lifting up of the Messiah for all nations is also prophesied in Isaiah 11.
When the Lord returns, He again will be the banner that leads the elect
back for the final gathering.
Matthew 24:
30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes
of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of
heaven with power and great glory.
31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather
together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
The Lord will usher is His perfect sabbath rest
Isaiah 11:
10 And on that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner
to the people. For the Gentiles shall seek Him, and His resting place shall be glory.
11 It shall come to pass on that day the Lord shall set His hand again the second time
to recover the remnant of His people who are left….
12 He will set up a banner for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel,
to gather together the dispersed of Judah.
Isaiah 49:22 Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will lift My hand in an oath to the nations,
and set up My banner for the peoples. They shall bring your sons in their arms and your
daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.
Isaiah 62:10 Go through, Go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; Build up,
Build up the highway! Take out the stones, Lift up a banner for the people!
The altar of sacrifice has been replaced by the cross of Christ,
which points us to the throne.
Exodus 17:15 And Moses built an altar and called its name YHVH Nissi, meaning:
The-Lord-Is-My-Banner.
