I have a love/hate relationship with this hobby. It takes so much thought and patience! I was going to give it up even after spending oodles of money for the dies, but I'm having second thoughts. I for sure want to make a beautiful birthday card for my oldest daughter. I was going to do it this year, but I forgot to purchase one of the necessary dies. Now I have the die for next year.

Tonight I made a simple card for my grandson. It's not his birthday. It will just be a surprise.

 That's precious Phoebe. Praying great favor and blessings with this wunnerful endeavor.

God bless you. Card making is a lost art. May all of your cards be a unique and special blessing to each one gifted with one of them.

The ministry idea just sorta' came to mind a few minutes after i posted the first post and i just had to share that.

I love cards. Finding unique cards that are closer to what one wants to express are difficult to find.

Praying that God lights your path before you Phoebe. God bless you and all your family.

This verse comes to mind about inventiveness and creativity:

"I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions." ~Proverbs 8:12

I wish it mattered. No one seemed to appreciate them. My parents and siblings didn't like Bible verses. The time spent making the cards that didn't impress people (or perhaps people don't say "Thank you" anymore)was hard work.

Don’t give up. There’s a lot of people who enjoy card making and related crafts. I post them on my thread.

I agree with @brinny. It’s a great ministry for the sick, shut-in, elderly, lowly, and new mothers. Many would appreciate receiving your treats just because. :)

Oh no, this is sad thing when it happens. Some people just can’t understand how much thought and work you put into it. But don’t let it affect your creativity. That is gift from God and to be appreciated. Keep doing what you do!

I have only just found this thread - sorry to be so late.

I make handmade cards too.
When I had M.E I didn't have much energy, but I was still doing some cross stitch, so I started making simple cards, or making up the free cover kits that came on cross stich magazines and sending them. I was doing this mainly for birthdays, but people were having birthdays far quicker than I could cross stitch, so I started looking around for other crafts, and discovered rubber stamping.

Then I started making cards using this craft because I was unable to get out to visit people; sending a card to say "get well soon", or "I care" or just because, became another form of ministry. Often when making a card I had someone specific in mind, and would spend time thinking about what they liked - flowers, animals etc - as well as favourite colours (if I knew). Spending so much time thinking of the person, it became quite natural to pray for them as I was making the card.
I don't do this as much at the moment, but I did send a card - actually, 2 or 3 - to every member of our church during the pandemic. Most were appreciative and thought it a great way of keeping in touch.

I notice in your OP you talked about dies; do you always use these and enjoy using them? I can't really get into them somehow; if I decide I want to use any, I buy them off ebay.

God bless you in your card making ministry.
