The mark of the beast is not a physical mark. The forehead represents the mind, and the hand is a symbol of work or actions.

The Bible say’s,

“It shall be as a sign to you on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that the LORD’s law may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand the LORD has brought you out of Egypt.” Exodus 13:9 (NKJV).

“You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.” Deuteronomy 6:8

“Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.” Deuteronomy 11:18. (See Strong’s Concordance- H2903
“Strong's Definitions: טוֹפָפָה ṭôwphâphâh, to-faw-faw'; from an unused root meaning to go around or bind; a fillet for the forehead:—frontlet”

Outline of Biblical Usage:

1 bands, phylacteries, frontlets, mark

“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” Hebrews 10:16

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.”Ecclesiastes 9:10.

The mark of the beast has to do with worship. One will be marked in the forehead by a decision , or in his hand by his work/actions.

Will you worship God and keep His commandments?!?

“6 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people—
7 saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”Revelation 14:6,7.

“Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” Revelation 14:12

Or will you worship the beast and his image?!?

“Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand,
10 “he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.” Revelation 14:9, 10

In conclusion, The mark of the beast is not a chip or a tattoo or anything material.
I like how the America in Bible Prophecy Magazine from Amazing Facts puts it, “They are marks of your character. You will, in essence, mark yourself choosing whom to obey.” The Bible say’s, “Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.” Revelation 22:14 (NKJV). It’s important to know who the beast is, so that you can identify it’s mark.

Sorry, but the evidence suggests this mark has to be something physical.

When a person buys and sells, this is a literal transaction. There is interaction between buyer and seller. You buy something in the shops, this involves interaction between two parties. You buy something online, this still involves interaction between two parties.

This "mark" has to serve as some kind of means of identification. The parties concerned has been marked or branded in order to engage in business transactions.

It makes no difference whether this mark can be seen with the naked eye or requires the use of special equipment, either way, all logic indicates has to be something physical.

How else are people going to know who has or who has not been marked?

Thank you for your reply. I do dispute “that the mark has to be something physical”, I think the word literal describes it better. In your example of an online transaction, there is no way that the seller can see a “physical mark”. You are right in saying that “the mark” has to serve as some kind of means of identification. There has to be a literal method of identifying who can buy or sell. Where we disagree is the mark. There is a difference between the mark of the beast and the method of identifying who can buy or sell. I didn’t say that their wouldn’t be some kind of “method” to carry out the mark of the beast. What I’m saying is that the actual mark of beast is not something physical. To know what the mark of the beast is, the beast needs to be identified. The link to this Bible Study on the Mark of the Beast explains my understanding . God Bless!

The problem with the "buying" aspect in regards to the translation is the nature of the greek word Strong's G59 - agorazō. There is just to many possibilities of what this could be referring to.

Because there are alternative meanings for this word, one has to consider the various possibilities.

The question remains, is it buying in general, (like in a bricks and mortar stores and online buying), or is the reference to something rather specific, like going to the markets or shopping centres and doing transactions face to face (and looking at Strong's G59 - agorazō gives that impression)

If, and I mean a big IF, if the reference is to be understood in the context of people going to the markets, and shops in shopping centres, or other places where there is a gathering of people, then we are in real big trouble, as look at what is happening in the world today.

Now in the context of Rev 14.9-11 look at he word "received" more carefully and look at the greek word Strong's G2983 - lambanō, and all manner of reason and logic would indicate the individual has to be given a choice to accept or refuse, in other words the individual would have to submit and agree to get the mark, or refuse.

Another problem is this word "hand" that is used, Strong's G5495 - cheir. I had to research further, and there is not much information I have come across, but I have come across some material which may indicate that word "cheir" could refer to both hand and arm.

This particular Scripture isn't that difficult to understand and there's really nothing to debate when it comes to whether or not the mark is physical. The interpretation methodology being used to indicate it as not being a visually identifiable physical thing lacks any kind of consistency. Another thing to consider is the fact that the particular Scripture in question directs the reader to count the number. It also states that "he causes all... to receive a mark on their right hand or forehead". There's nothing mysterious about it.

Given the serious consequences of accepting such a mark, Scripture is pretty clear about it. The mark cannot be forced upon anyone by tying them down and branding them, nor can it be "disguised" to trick people into unwittingly or unknowingly accepting it. Also, its not going to be some preexisting "mark" system that gets hijacked by the antichrist and converted to the mark of the beast. Everyone that willingly takes the mark will know that it means complete submission to and worship of the beast.
I should also point out that to anyone taking the mark, the antichrist will appear to be the messiah, so there will be deception involved, no doubt about it. However, at the time this occurs, he will have shown his true colors, so people will either accept the lie and live for a few more years or deny the mark and be put to death.

The mark cannot be forced upon anyone by tying them down and branding them, nor can it be "disguised" to trick people into unwittingly or unknowingly accepting it.

It does sound logical that the mark cannot be directly forced upon people by tying them down and giving it to them without their consent, because such a individual didn't give their permission in the first place. However, the mark could be indirectly forced upon the people (make life so unbearable for those who refuse to be marked be cut off from society all together, with restrictions on top of more restrictions and so on)

Now if you think people cannot be deceived into getting it, I suggest you read Rev 19.20 very carefully, because in Rev 19.20, there is a reference to deception being involved.

The question that needs to be asked "how were the people deceived?" The only logical conclusion that makes the most sense is that the people believed whatever they took, in one way or another, had benefit them, or it was for their own well being that they needed it.

Of course, and that was covered. However, keep in mind that for the amount of deception that will be going around, there will be just as much truth(the two witnesses and the 144,000). People will need to choose what they have faith in: the popular lie or the scorned truth.
