Hello! After several posts on another thread I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this issue.

Did God send, call, appoint, anoint or empower Donald Trump?

Please be kind and gracious in all posts.

A very good question. I think that God do not do any of those things in your list since we have no King, I think President Trump got in because people were tried of the other guy.

don't believe salvation is by support for conservative institutions- repentance and faith in Christ necessary

maybe all the prophets of Trump were wrong completely about Trump- not only about his-re-election

He's a professed Christian friend.

He's done more for the Christian community as a president than any that has came along for the last 40 years or more.

We voted in a president, not a pastor.

Edit: here's the article Trump Becomes the First President Since Eisenhower to Change Faiths in Office

While I do not believe that God sent Trump, if Roe is overturned, then perhaps we can say that Trump has done a big favor for the unborn, even if he almost certainly did so for political reasons and not out of any great personal opposition to abortion.

Yes...everything that happens, God allows.

I think everything we see happening with nations and rulers are ultimately heading us toward the goal of making the nations of this world the footstool of Jesus. All the nations are aligning with the antichrist. All of them - Even the USA. Up till that day, I believe God will use rulers.. even evil ones, to drive those who will be saved toward Christ.

Rev 13:
7 Then the beast was permitted to wage war against the saints and to conquer them, and it was given authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation.
8 And all who dwell on the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written from the foundation of the world in the Book of Life belonging to the Lamb who was slain.

I suspect that the SC will not outlaw abortion in any degree. I think they will simply rule that the states have a right to restrict abortion. In that sense, Row vs Wade will be reversed. And even if some states outlaw abortion, other states close by will not. I think the only way abortion will be made illegal is by way of a constitutional "right to life" amendment that declare the unborn to be human beings that deserve protection.
So, the Trump appointees to the court may be his biggest legacy. Though Kavanaugh sounded a bit wishy washy in his questioning.

Even pagan kings are God's annointed. See the example of Cyrus in Scripture. Biden is just as much a servant of God as Trump. Also, Christ is the promised seed of Abraham, not a secular nation created in the 1940s. See Galatians.

I agree that it's questionable whether the modern nation-state of Israel is what God sees as "Israel" these days. And God has let the Jewish nation-state be conquered before.

But I do think God is protecting Jews as a people from annihilation. Every king or nation that has tried to annihilate Jews as a people has been destroyed instead. The United States as a nation is safe within Genesis 12:3 and Psalm 33:12 as long as Jews can safely flourish here.

I agree that God is preserving the Jews but I believe that America and the world exist because of Christians per Christ's parable of the wheat and tares.

He did not send, call, appoint, anoint or empower, Trump's followers did that.
God only allowed the test to go forward to reveal those truly in His Kingdom. Blessings.

Well we have to keep in mind who the alternative was and God fearing Christians can’t be expected to support a pro choice candidate.

I am against abortion and I choose to be that way . If a woman chooses to abort, she will find a way to do it even if she does it herself. The whole premise of Roe vs Wade was to avoid self mutilation and the unlawful cottage industry of abortion. There is no winning this battle.

That’s doesn’t mean that I should support a candidate that advocates it. I think voting Trump at that time was choosing the lesser of two evils.

There is a need to inculcate a conscience into our culture about the evil of abortion. One step is to make it illegal. Another is to make it socially unacceptable. You are correct, there will always be abortion just as there will always be homicide, rape, drug addition, war, etc. etc...
Only a change in heart will stop these things.
Peace.

Perhaps instead of instituting abortion, the Government should have incentivized healthcare workers, religious and otherwise to reach out to the most vulnerable who seek abortion and their babies

Talking of abortion. Sadly I heard a speaker from the pro-life organisation SPUC talking about young Christian women being pressurized into abortion. One testimony shared was a young unmarried woman pregnant, the father was the son of the pastor and the leaders of the church did not want the stigma of unmarried mother or the sex outside of marriage to stick to them. Thankfully the young woman reached out to the SPUC and escaped that toxic environment. We need to take this out of the toxic political realm and into the realm of support and mercy. It should be about supporting women and saving children, not scoring political points.

The attitude of the leaders above maybe atypical now, attitudes are changing. There was Trump, he was boasting about having had more sex than Casanova and was the evangelical darling. The stigma of unmarried sex is turning into a no big deal.

I've always viewed abortion as a worldly thing. Christian women are not seeking out abortion,.. and it would have to be a forced issue for one to have one.

The world is going to do what the world wants to do until The Lord finally comes. I don't think we as Christians should be focusing all of our attention on worldly issues such as this.
