So you do not even think God put water above the sun, moon, and stars? It was dry land after God removed the water. It was not dry before that.Land was under that water.
Genesis 1:9 "And God said, "Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear:" and it was so."
This is the first time dry land appeared in this age. God didn't just separate the waters and said let "land" appear he said let the dry land appear, meaning land was here and obviously it was wet since it was covered in water. He didn't just create a bunch of water to start with. Again, he created it not void as he states in Isaiah, he created it to be inhabited.
It does not say, "Let the previous dry land".
The sense is to let the land appear as dry, once the water was moved above the firmament.
"And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day."
"And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good."
Yes there was way more water above what would be dry land. That is why in Genesis 1:1 it was void and without form. Nothing existed prior to the void part. No prior earth was destroyed in water.
At the time of Noah's Flood, the water above the sun, moon, and stars came back and covered the earth. That was what Peter was writing about. Genesis 7:11
"In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened."
"The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated."
The world prior to the Flood was destroyed. The earth was still changing when the Greeks controlled the ME as the 3rd kingdom. At the Second Coming, that change that started at Noah's Flood, will be reversed, by fire, and the mountains and continents will go back to the way they started before Noah's Flood. It will be a new heavens and earth once again.
