And this is the quote that you ignore:

""We continue to see warning signs of spikes this upcoming winter, and while the new Omicron variant has yet to be detected in New York State, it's coming," Hochul said."

Sings of spikes already exist without the Omicron variant. That can only make matters worse. But it appears this action is for what is already happening. The benefit is that if the Omicron variant does take off at all like the Delta variant did they will be ready for it. It is a needed action, but there may be as yet unforeseen benefits.

And the entirety of what I showed you in post #119 is what you ignore.
There were plenty more articles I could have linked to, but there's no point in doing so if you're going to ignore the first 3, in addition to the one from FOX.

It's just fear mongering to declare a state of emergency for something that hasn't even happened. It's also dishonest to say that it's not related to the discovery of omicron when it clearly in the article that it's exactly what it's related to.
You want the Governor of the State of New York to wait until it’s bad enough?

Huh.

Have you known anyone who has gotten the Measles vaccine, and then gotten the Measles anyway? It's more contagious than Covid, and yet, for some odd reason, people don't get Measles after they've gotten the Measles vaccine.

The moral of this is:

Get vaccinated and get boosters as indicated. I had to get an MMR after I had a test for immunity. The research is advocating better testing to identify waning immunity so that one can get another VACCINATION.

Thank though for supporting vaccination efforts.

If you don't believe FOX reported accurately, there are other, more liberal sources that mirror the FOX article. Just a few:
‘It's Coming': NY Declares State of Emergency Ahead of Potential Omicron Spike
‘It's Coming': NY Declares State of Emergency Ahead of Potential Omicron Spike

NY governor declares state of emergency to prepare for omicron
NY governor declares state of emergency to prepare for omicron

New York Declares State of Emergency Amid Variant Threat
New York Declares State of Emergency Amid Variant Threat
No, unlike you I do not stop at the headline or try to only cherry pick. There already are signs of an incipient spike without the Omicron variant. But its existence does up the urgency for the need of this sort of act. That is all. In other words, one puts the plywood over one's windows before the hurricane hits. Not after one is in the middle of one.

Covid: BBC news

Mr Johnson said: "Our scientists are learning more hour by hour, and it does appear that Omicron spreads very rapidly and can be spread between people who are double vaccinated."
How long until we find out that it originated in such a person?

Some countries are going to force people to take the jab or risk getting fined etc....madness..
Foolishness like not getting vaccinated can have natural and logical consequences.

Foolishness of rushing to get vaccinated may have bad long term health effects and remorse.
Interesting "theory". Do you have any evidence? The vaccines are far past the experimental stage. They appear to be very safe. How could a vaccine change your body in a negative manner?

They're proving ineffective against the latest mutation. 2 people now identified as having it in the U.S., both fully vaccinated.

Can somebody please explain to Aldebaran that getting vaccinated significantly reduces the chance of developing covid (and reduces its impact if one does develop it), but is not a guarantee against it. I've tried myself on a few ocassions, but...to no avail.

It's like I wake up every morning and the first thing I hear is Sonny and Cher singing. And I just know the same posts will be there when I check the forum.

'Appear' to be safe you said.

I rest my case! ;)

Aldebaran has heard the propaganda lines already. Aldebaran not impressed.

You have no case. There has been more than enough time to show if the vaccines put people at risk. They don't. Meanwhile we know that they save lives.

How can you as a Christian find a valid excuse not to get vaccinated? It is what Jesus would do.

Not likely based any known evidence. Reactions to any vaccine will happen within a few weeks. COVID is far more likely to cause worse symptoms of anything a vaccine might cause. Not getting vaccinated is foolish. Period.

Huh.
In the South we always wait until the tornado is in the kitchen before taking shelter.

Just like posting on the internet appears to be safe, but there's no way to know if there might not be unknown long term side effects. If one were to be consistent with this idea of avoiding any potential unknown hypothetical side effects, better to be safe than sorry and stop posting here entirely.

Let's see if the concern about unknown potential hypothetical side effects is applied consistently.

How do you know ceasing posting on the internet won't have serious long term effects? It appears not to, but ... I rest my case.

So on the one hand you have a choice between a virus that we know frequently kills people and very frequently causes long-term damage, and a vaccine on the other hand that's been administered billions of time with only extremely rare bad effects. And you consider this to be an argument against the vaccine. That's . . . odd.
