This is exactly like the moral panic about D&D in the 1980's. It would be just as sad and laughable if it weren't so dangerous in its consquences.

THey obviously are not that's why sex ed and other things are needed, too many parent don't care, too busy, or too oblivious to whats going on.
That doesn't mean the rest of us who ARE or DID do our jobs are required to cede our responsibility to the government for our children. Nothing could be a worse idea. Parents, step up.

So just leave the kids that aren't educated in things, and yes it does. Children being bullied and having problems is a societal issue.

One of the school systems cited in the article educates my granddaughter. These people scare me. They scare me for her. I don't understand how one can be against mental health in schools given youth suicides, bullying, and only this week another school shooting. We won't do anything to jeopardize our precious guns, but we won't do anything to help youth who might misuse them either. In what kind of world does that make sense?

In my experience, school social workers and counselors do an excellent job of support, identification, & referral.

.

It has nothing at all to do with mental health.

Try to find a clear definition that everyone agrees upon for Social Emotional Learning.

It doesn't exist. It ranges from a deeper consideration of the emotional needs of the child to...."restorative justice".

The science behind it is flimsy at best. People profit greatly by selling it.
