I agree. There has always been an ugly element of nativism in this country opposed to immigration. But immigration is what made us a world power.. In 1870, our population was about 39,000,000. In the 1920 census, just a half century later, we had over 106,000,000 people. (These numbers can be easily confirmed on-line.) There's no way that any nation's population can triple in 50 years by the natural birth rate alone. Our population boom resulted from immigration--especially from central, eastern, and southern Europe. It wasn't easy for these folks. They weren't always trusted or treated fairly, and too often were abused. But immigration is how the US became the planet's economic, political, and military leader. If we have any intelligence, humanity, and any understanding of history, we would welcome immigrants--not malign, disparage, or reject them.

Sure, but realistically... large numbers of immigrants have seldom been welcomed by any country. Relying upon immigrants to uphold the economy is not an easy sell politically, especially a country with a strong track record of racial tensions like the US.

I am 30 and have no desire to have kids because having a moderate case of CP I cannot properly take care of myself. I have NO business bringing littles into this world. Plus, I am neither married nor in a serious relationship ( and am in no hurry to change that).

I know. Nativism and racism are both manifestations of tribalism. Which is part of the evolutionary baggage we've inherited from our ancient hominid ancestors. One can only hope that intellligence, learning, and (to quote Abe Lincoln) the better angels of our nature, can overcome it.
