Now that most people have obeyed and gotten their shots, and then their "boosters" which are the same as the originals which aren't said to be very effective against Delta variant which is blamed on unvaccinated people, we now have another variant that's being blamed on South Africa and is being rumored to be possibly unaffected by vaccines.
There is a lot to unpack in this very loaded statement.

As far as I understand it, most people have not gotten their shots because they "obey" demands by government or scientists or authority.
But they have chosen to get life saving shots because it protects themselves and society against a deadly pandemic.

Having boosters has proven to improve the effectiveness of being vaccinated. A single shot is 80% effective, two shots is 90% effective.

Omicron isn't blamed on South Africa.
Variant happen over time and over generations. Obviously the more people that are infected then the more chances there are for mutations to happen. This is evolution 101.
Since most 3rd world countries have very low vaccination rates, and since in some countries there are many people choosing not to get vaccinated, it is merely recognised that lack of vaccinated people give the disease more opportunity to mutate.
The call is for
People to get vaccinated
Richer countries to assist poorer countries in getting access to the vaccine.

It is underdermined yet if Omicron is unaffected by vaccines or even natural immunity. It has been identified as a risk and so scientists are looking into it.

The actual big questions are:
Are people who have been vaccinated or have natural immunity susceptable to the Omicron variant?
How contagious is Omicron?
How severe is Omicron?
Do we need a new vaccine to protect from Omicron?
How long will it take to develop a vaccine against Omicron?
Do we need to again shut down borders, and go into lockdown to save lives from Omicron?
