Hi everyone,

Today I’d like to ask a question regarding the unpardonable sin.

Now as a few may know these past days I’ve been in immense anxiety and worried about apostasy, but I’ve come to realize I most likely haven’t committed it.

Moving on to the question,I’ve heard is 3 perspectives about the unpardonable sin.

1.)The unpardonable sin is lifelong refusal to believe and being hateful and rejective of Jesus.
2.)The unpardonable sin is saying that Jesus did all his miracles from the power of a demon or Satan
3.)-The one that scares me,is apostasy and not being able to repent

Now I’ve heard that God forgives all sins except the unpardonable one.I’m not ever contemplating apostasy or backsliding or falling away,I always tell Jesus “I’ll NEVER renounce faith in you OR abandon you Father”,but if apostasy is committed by one,can they be repent and be forgiven?.

Hi everyone,

Today I’d like to ask a question regarding the unpardonable sin.

In the context of Scripture that Jesus spoke of the "unpardonable sin" it was #2. Although #1 could be an outcropping of that; and is certainly applicable to having not been redeemed in the first place!

As per apostasy? People who become apostate never think they are apostate and thus they never worry about it. So yes; I would agree with you that if you are afraid you've committed the unpardonable sin; the likelihood that's true, would be pretty rare.

Now, "being apostate" doesn't mean that you will never have wrong doctrines, ideas or misunderstandings. We're all learning things as we continue to study. If you keep in mind though that the Bible is its own dictionary, commentary and interpreter; you'll be forever on an uphill quest to understand more. Where I see people "get into trouble" the most is that they are really good at regurgitating what someone else taught them; but they don't actually know, because they've never taken the time to search the Scriptures on their own.

The Bible is kind of like a puzzle. There's all these pieces and interpretation is in learning how they all fit together. Study can be a tedious, time consuming and frustrating endeavor. I can't tell you how many "Bible puzzle pieces" I've found "on accident". "Oh... look; I never noticed that verse before. I wonder what it means?" Which of course requires digging through the rest of the Bible to find the answer.

Don't know how familiar you are with concordances or interlinear Bibles; but they can be extremely helpful in finding Bible passages to compare to each other.

The failure to repent.
You must believe to repent or you are just talking to yourself. When you refuse the gift and calling of Gods Spirit you are lost. Repentance is to turn away, stop what we are doing and take the 'high road.'
When we continually quench the Spirit we can no longer hear it's voice and in essence dismiss His Spirit. There is no avenue back.
God is not willing that any be lost so grow in confidence of 'His' work and promise. Look to Him, not yourself. That can be depressing.

Blasphemy
We know the scripture, yet the question seems to come around frequently. What is the unpardonable sin? We know what blasphemy means, there is a refresher following below. First, what does the Spirit of God do?

First, the Holy Spirit does many things in the lives of believers. He is the believers’ Helper (John 14:26). He indwells believers and seals them until the day of redemption—this indicates that the Holy Spirit’s presence in the believer is irreversible. He guards and guarantees the salvation of the ones He indwells (Ephesians 1:13; 4:30). The Holy Spirit assists believers in prayer (Jude 1:20) and “intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God” (Romans 8:26–27).

The Holy Spirit regenerates and renews the believer (Titus 3:5). At the moment of salvation, the Spirit baptizes the believer into the Body of Christ (Romans 6:3). Believers receive the new birth by the power of the Spirit (John 3:5–8). The Spirit comforts believers with fellowship and joy as they go through a hostile world (1 Thessalonians 1:6; 2 Corinthians 13:14). The Spirit, in His mighty power, fills believers with “all joy and peace” as they trust the Lord, causing believers to “overflow with hope” (Romans 15:13).

Sanctification is another work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. The Spirit sets Himself against the desires of the flesh and leads the believer into righteousness (Galatians 5:16–18). The works of the flesh become less evident, and the fruit of the Spirit becomes more evident (Galatians 5:19–26). Believers are commanded to “be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18), which means they are to yield themselves to the Spirit’s full control.

The Holy Spirit is also a gift-giver. “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them” (1 Corinthians 12:4). The spiritual gifts that believers possess are given by the Holy Spirit as He determines in His wisdom (verse 11)

The Holy Spirit also does work among unbelievers. Jesus promised that He would send the Holy Spirit to “convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment” (John 16:8, ESV). The Spirit testifies of Christ (John 15:26), pointing people to the Lord. Currently, the Holy Spirit is also restraining sin and combating “the secret power of lawlessness” in the world. This action keeps the rise of the Antichrist at bay (2 Thessalonians 2:6–10).

The Holy Spirit has one other important role, and that is to give believers wisdom by which we can understand God. “The Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God” (1 Corinthians 2:10–11). Since we have been given the amazing gift of God’s Spirit inside ourselves, we can comprehend the thoughts of God, as revealed in the Scripture. The Spirit helps us understand. This is wisdom from God, rather than wisdom from man. No amount of human knowledge can ever replace the Holy Spirit’s teaching (1 Corinthians 2:12–13).

I pulled the above from this site. More

Matthew 12:31

Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy G988 against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. The question seems to

STRONGS NT 988: βλασφημία
βλασφημία, -ας, ἡ, railing, reviling (Vulg. blasphemia);
a. universally, slander, detraction, speech injurious to another's good name: Matthew 12:31; Matthew 15:19; Mark 3:28; Mark 7:22; Ephesians 4:31; Colossians 3:8; 1 Timothy 6:4; Jude 1:9 (κρίσις βλασφημίας, equivalent to κρίσις βλάσφημος in 2 Peter 2:11, a judgment pronounced in reproachful terms); Revelation 2:9.

Matthew 26:65
Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; G987 what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. G988

†βλασφημέω blasphēméō, blas-fay-meh'-o; from G989; to vilify; specially, to speak impiously:—(speak) blaspheme(-er, -mously, -my), defame, rail on, revile, speak evil.

Given all that the Spirit of God does for men what should be expected for those that not only refuse (Hebrews 12:25. See that ye refuse not him that speaks. For if they escaped not when they refused him that warned them on earth, much more shall not we escape who turn away from him that warns from heaven.) His Spirit but also, defame, rail on, revile, speak evil, slander, detract, speak injurious of His good name.

Are these the actions of a repentant heart? No, rather the actions of a recalcitrant soul. There is no repentance, there is no forgiveness. God is our loving, forgiving Father. Be careful of rebellion against and the dismissal of His Spirit by which He calls and brings us unto redemption.
