• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I was doing nothing and thinking about the subject travelling and which countries I was interested in and which not. Then I thought about Israel. I was thinking that I had no interest in travelling to Israel, but then I had this thought that I have sinned because I’m not interested in the country of the faith I believe in. Is it wrong to think like this? I tend to believe it’s not wrong, but my ocd makes everything worse.

It's not as if 20th century Israel had a pillar of cloud by day and of fire by night leading the Jewish armies in returning to their promised land. Jesus isn't presiding over the Knessit as their king so going there is just a personal option today for every Christian. Visiting there doesn't make any of us more righteous or wicked for not going there.

As far as I can tell, what you're concerned about only happens in the future. Zechariah 14:18

Sin is an act of rebellion againsts God, or his laws.
Thoughts caused by mental illnes are not in themselves sinful.
These sort of thoughts just say or think, 'yes that is right' and move on.
Don't talk with, argue or try to ignore these thoughts, just acknowledge and then ignore.

These thoughts can be so confusing, can't they? What are your current strategies for dealing with these kinds of thoughts, and your OCD in general?
